2023.02.02 23:35 mattyt879 Who is responsible for alleys?

Submitted a request for alley repaving on the MyBham311 app. Got a response from the person it was assigned to that they wouldn’t repave because it only provides access to my property so I should be responsible for repaving. That’s not true because the alley is also the only access to my next door neighbor’s car port and is regularly used by 4 to 5 houses on our block. They also tried to say it wasn’t the city’s responsibility because it’s a “dead end alley” that technically doesn’t connect to the street on the other side of the block. It seems like they are making up groundless excuses to avoid responsibility. On Jefferson Co parcel viewer the alley is clearly a public right of way and not inside any property lines so per my understanding should automatically be the city’s responsibility to maintain. Does anyone know what local regs are for this?

2023.02.02 23:35 MesserChup 23m England; another post by a guy looking for friends [Friendship]

Hello,
I'm hoping to find some local(ish) friends (Buckinghamshire) but I won't keep my hopes up. I do have a car, so if you leave semi-close then that could work as I don't mind driving (if you're worth it).
Anyway, as this is the internet and due to anonymity I am going to be as forthcoming as I can, and pray someone doesn't doxx me.
I don't have any friends at all. I stopped talking to my school friends years ago, for many reasons. Mostly because they treated me like I was nothing, so developing friends of any kind has been very difficult for me as I don't trust people. I'm quite guarded and reserved for that reason, but I really want to change that. So that's why I'm on here. I've never used this before. I presumed as a guy that no one would message as this is mostly guys, and the few women that do post probably get swarmed with messages so I haven't bothered to try until now. I'm not being anti-women, it's just realistically how it is.
About me:
I'm a guy (duh) in my early 20s. A rarity for this sub, I know /s.
With my time lately I haven't been doing too much with myself. I had a job but got sacked and that shattered any modicum of care I had for working menial jobs. I now plan to hopefully start a degree and get into the mental health sector, but that's if things go well. I would love to do something that matters and makes a difference to someone out there, before you think I'm lazy.
On a good day I'll drive out to this beautiful, tranquil park that I know and go for a walk and read. I read quite a lot, just to get away from the stress of social media. At this moment I'm reading Kafka's Metamorphosis, which I first read two years ago but didn't appreciate at the time. Other authors I love are Edgar Allan Poe, Oscar Wilde and Charles Bukowski.
I'm really into music. I love it probably more than anything. Listening to it; playing it. I don't care. Hank Williams, Chris Isaak, Bauhaus, Tomahawk, Elvis, Morrissey and The Deftones are artists I'm frequently playing as of late; but I love all kinds. Rap is the only thing I can't tolerate to be quite honest. Can't stand it. I do play a bit of guitar, bass, and keyboard but I have never had lessons. I probably never will.
I love films too; Blue Velvet, Chinatown, Ed Wood, High Noon, and Breezy are among my top 5. But there's so many others I could pick.
My dress sense is very formal these days. I sound uptight, but I feel like a hobo if I'm wearing blue jeans and a graphic tee, so I can't dress that way at all. I don't really care how others dress (as it makes me look better!) but for myself I prefer to at least dress smart, just to feel somewhat sharp mentally. Even if i feel awful.
I'm sort of into art. I'm really not that good at it though, I can just barely sketch an apple. Perhaps you can give me criticism on how to improve?
I'm hoping if I find someone on here we can do things together like hang out and get lunch, go for drives, or play in a band; something like that? As I said, I don't have high expectations as I'm not sure if my interests are that interesting to most? Or if no one lives near me to me. Just as, talking online all the time really doesn't appeal to me, the idea for this was to get out of the house. But anyway, that's all I have to say. I look forward to any responses :)

2023.02.02 23:35 Throw179619 New partner (M) can't cum during sex and doesn't seem to know how to thrust. Any suggestions for both problems?

I'm 26F, he's 23M. I'm experienced and used to experienced partners, he's only had sex a few times with two girls before me. Apparently he couldn't cum with either other girl and hasn't with me yet either.
I'm used to the opposite problem, while I don't want to sound arrogant, it's relevant to mention that I'm conventionally attractive, hygienic, very tight and know how to please men, men normally complain about cumming too fast. He's clearly attracted to me, has never made me feel like I'm the problem, doesn't seem nervous or anxious, as far as I'm aware, isn't on any medication, and was either sober or had a maximum of two beers when we've had sex so far.
He also seems to struggle with thrusting, we've only had sex in cars so far so we are already starting in awkward positions, but he seems to put his dick inside me and then only really thrust a couple of inches. I've suggested other positions where he should be able to thrust more easily, but he has a bigger than average dick and it seems to pull his foreskin painfully.
Apparently even when he's by himself, it takes him around half an hour to finish himself.

2023.02.02 23:34 ThatOneYourn Galaxy Buds 2 earbuds battery draining while in the case

I got my Buds2 back in August of 2022. Then during OctobeNovember I began to notice my earbuds' battery draining down to 90%, sometimes even as low as 83% while in the case despite the charging indicator inside the case showing me a green light. It's not until I pick up an earbud and place it back in does it show up as red. I often have to do this for both earbuds to charge back up to 100% but then after a while of not using them, they drop back down to the values I showed earlier. I am not at all sure whether it's a defect or a software issue and I sure as hell take good care of my earbuds so I don't think I even damaged them accidentally.
Has this happened to anyone before?
I've tried resetting, unpairing them, giving them a full battery cycle...nothing worked despite them working fine the first few months I got them!

2023.02.02 23:33 laughablelif Update

Yesterday was the 1st day I slept in my car. Since leaving my abusive sisters. House. Temperatures were at 38 degrees. With the window cracked open. I froze. There was a part of me that wanted to sleep in my sister's upstairs loft but I didn't. In fear she would get mad at me for sleeping in her house.
Keep in mind I'm small so I was able to fit in the trunk with the chairs in the back down. I laid a towel over head and I had truck covers. So no one could see me. I had no windows covers however. Other than the front ones. And when I woke up I snuck into my sister's house to retrieve my bag. I still have to get my mattress and my stripper pole. But at the moment I am just mentally and physically exhausted. I woke up at 230 am last night and couldn't go back to bed. Unless I peed first. Which went horrible. I couldn't find the desinated water bottle. I had specifically cut open for this reason. So in my sleepness. I poured out the contents of my coin jar and went in that. The hole of the lid smelled like it would have been wide enough for me to go in. Nope I was wrong. I managed to get pee on the seat and some on my pants. I got so mad Keep in mind it's 2am and 39 degrees. I cleaned it up this morning and even got a portable water. Container for messes and hand washing. And tooth paste use. I may have used the wrong word. But it's for my chores the 2 other water bottles I have are for drinking water.
Sorry I was talking about random details but yah. I froze it was horrible. I didn't sleep well. I feel super tired and when I woke up in the morning it seemed my sister had already managed to get a new roommate. A car I didn't see was in the drive way.
And then last night right before bed my brother asked when where I was at. I told him my car and I said I was sleeping in it. He said just be safe. And he asked what happened to living with my friend. I told him I didn't have money to move in with her. And didn't want to stay with my sister. So the car it is. Tonight ill shower at planet fitness and this weekend luckily I'll be able to sleep at my bf house. His parents are out of town for the weekend. He's 24 and so am I. They know we are dating. And said I can come over. I just have beef with his mom and don't want to live there. He offered and I was like no. I get paided soon. It's just horrible waiting on money. All the time And I passed my entry exams for the lvn program. So that's something. .

2023.02.02 23:33 truckmonkey12 My biggest piece of advice as semi driver to anyone planning a US road trip:

Don’t use the interstates.
As a semi driver I don’t have much time to stop and do touristy activities. The closest I can get is to admire the scenery and nature of the area I travel in. Most scenery along the interstates will be the infrastructure and other cars. It isn’t as remote and most towns along the interstates are much more urbanized and used to out-of-state travellers.
However, the US routes and state highways are less urbanized and have more scenery to enjoy, they are also less busy. The people living in those towns are more culturally isolated and distinct from the more urbanized areas. You’ll more like you are visiting a foreign uncharted territory (I’m exaggerating of course to make a point). I enjoy driving on the US routes much more than the interstates, and I don’t even get to stop to explore the towns i drive through.
It’ll take more time, but trust me it’ll be much more worth it than taking the busy, urbanized interstates.

2023.02.02 23:33 easterngray_77 Golden Acrylics for sale

Golden Acrylics for sale
Hello - I'm selling Golden Acrylic Paints and Mediums at the reduced price of $150. I have one 16oz bottle each of Hansa Yellow Medium, Naphthol Red Light, and Quinacridone Magenta unopened and still in the shrink wrap (valued at $39, $44, and $56 respectively). I also have a handful of other items- 16oz of Ultramarine Blue, 32 oz Mars Black, Phthalo Green Yellow Shade, and assorted Mediums included in the attached photos. The Ultramarine has been opened but is nearly unused. More than half the 32oz. tub of Mars Black remains. All of the caps have been securely fastened and the paint is in good quality. The unopened bottles are in perfectly unused condition. Golden Makes products of the highest quality and I am selling these items at a price you will not find at supply stores. I am moving away from using acrylics and so would like to see them go to someone who has a use for them. I am somewhat flexible on the price but, given the amount of paint, condition, and quality; I know the price I am asking is a fair one. These items are available for pickup near Wyckoff and Halsey. Feel free to ask me any questions regarding the paints and mediums and I will get back to you. Thanks

2023.02.02 23:32 aft_punk Is it possible to extract (so I can respond) to a Message?

I’ve been getting spam text messages from one of those pharmacy scam deadbeats. I don’t know how my number got on whatever call list they use, but they’ve been using it for at least a decade at this point. The calls stopped a while ago, but now they are using texts, and those are daily.
So my plan is to make some sort of chatbot (with the goal of wasting as MUCH of their time as possible, and as little of mine as possible. So definitely a automation project!
I know there is a trigger for when I receive a message, but it doesn’t appear that the content of the message is included, at least directly anyways.
I’m not really attempting to create something capable of deep conversation, just something to make them think I might be a potential victim with the 20-30 messages I will be spreading over the course of a day. That said… I’m not sure I’m not sure how successful it could be with completely random response.
I also don’t want to build some elaborate system of different triggers based on messages content (the only way I could parameterize it currently ).
So my question is ultimately… is there an indirect way of getting the message content(screenshot to text, etc) Is there an API I could access to do this? I’m cool with a method that doesn’t use shortcuts, although it might be worth mentioning these are green text messages (so not iOS or whatever difference it means)
Thanks!

2023.02.02 23:32 happy_kins Better to use rental car or public transport while in Valencia? En Valencia es mejor usar el coche de alquiler or la transportación publica?

We will have our rental car with us, but I am wondering if it would be better to leave it behind and use the public transportation...or to drive the rental to the downtown area and park it for the day while we wander around. We are a group of 3 people so the rental car might be more economical, but I hear parking can be hard to find. TIA! Gracias!

2023.02.02 23:31 Jawn_Nasty Good beginning set.

I would love to get into the world of slot cars. I used the have a few tyco sets as a kid and maybe a carrera. I just remember cars were 2 corvette early 2000’s one red one silver these were my favorite. I have no idea what happened to them after I moved out the parents house. I know a lot of tracks broke I was a young kid and did the best I could. I would love to get suggestions on beginner H/O sets. Space is tight for me that’s why I wanna go small scale. Was also thinking of getting some old tyco cars off eBay that I could run on the track.

2023.02.02 23:31 Cellifal Struggling to compare two jobs apples to apples

About six months ago, I left my full-time role at a company because I had a recruiter reach out to me and offer ~4x more money for a consulting role (~$31 / hr -> ~$120 / hr).
I've now been doing the job for about six months, and honestly the money is the only good thing about it. It's essentially an IT role that requires me to travel about 3 hours away to be on-site 3 days a week, the work isn't interesting, and it feels like I've actually taken a step down in responsibilities. As a consultant through a recruiting firm, I don't get PTO, a bonus, I can't contribute to a 401k, no stock options, etc - typical contractor arrangement, trading salary for benefits.
I'm currently sharing an apartment with a cousin near the site so I have a place to stay when I come out every week - he finishes grad school in around 6 months, so I'm considering leaving this job at that point rather than either paying for an apartment on my own or living with a random roommate, and I have a handful of people from my old company offering me jobs. The trouble I'm having is with comparing the two roles apples to apples to figure out how much I would need to get paid at the new job to "break even." This is what I've come up with so far (all numbers are monthly, salaries are gross rather than net):
Full-Time Role Consulting Role
Salary $9200 $16,666
Rent 0 -1600
Food 0 -400
Commuting Cost 0 -400
Health Insurance -100 -300
401k 500 0
Bonus 700 0
PTO 1200 0
Stock Options/Grants 150 0
Driving Time 0 -2000
Monthly Total $11,650 $11,966
Some notes here:
Would love to hear if anyone thinks I did this differently from how I should have or overlooked something, but it seems like $110k is about the break-even point on the full-time role. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

2023.02.02 23:31 Solus_in_OK 45 [M4F] Oklahoma/Online Looking for someone to roll with (extra points if you know what this is referencing)

Hello,
I always seem to get writers block when I start to compose a post. I have had a very hard time sleeping lately. While I have been single for awhile, loneliness and depression have been my companions lately. I have been getting help for the depression but the loneliness has remained consistent. I miss having someone to talk with, text with, send memes and videos with, snuggle with, be intimate with. What I guess I am trying to say is, while I am capable of living alone and doing all the things, I miss sharing my life with someone. I don't want to be dependent on someone, I don't want someone to be dependent on me, I want someone to share the journey of life, to grow along with someone, to be a partner. And that is why I am sending this message out to see if I can possible find someone to connect with.
As for me, I am 45 years old, divorced and single, living in Oklahoma. I am 6' and 265 with a dad bod that I am working on.
Talking about dad bod, I am a dad. I have four kids. Two are adults and the other two are getting there. None of them live with me but I see the two youngest every other weekend and occasionally through the week. No dram with my ex, we are good coparents and I am active in their lives.
Introverted by nature, I do enjoy going out once in awhile to do different activities. I love going to the movies, to the theater, hiking, going on road trips, going on day trips, festivals, renaissance faires (and I will dress up if I have a costume), and concerts. That being said, I need time to recharge between activities. The larger the crowd, the more time I need.
I love to laugh and my sense of humor is all over the place from goofy and light hearted to dark and dirty. I love stand up comedy. George Carlin, Denis Leary, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, and many, many more.
Conversations are something that I enjoy having and can talk about anything. Literally. If I don't know something, I have no problems admitting it and then questions to learn. I love to learn and use my brain. I have gone down many a rabbit hole before looking things up.
I am filled with useless and trivial knowledge. It ranges from movies, music and books, to knowing how big the worlds largest taco was (it was 1654 lbs by the way). I seem to be a sponge for knowledge but weird stuff is what sticks lol.
My movie tastes are all over the place, I enjoy sci-fi and fantasy, comedies, drama, action/adventure, horror, really anything that entertains. While I enjoy old movies to recent movies, 80's and 90's movies will always have a special place in my heart.
My music is like my movie taste, all over the place, I enjoy everything from classical to country, rock to rap. My favorites are 80's and 90's rock and alternative, hair bands, and music that just touches the soul.
Reading is another hobby I enjoy. I mainly ready sci-fi/fantasy, science (ie Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking), and philosophy.
Crafting is another hobby of mine. Currently I am into working with paracord and making chainmail and chainmail jewelry. I have dappled in bead work but would like to learn macrame, knitting, and crocheting.
I enjoy games of all types from board games, card games, tabletop games, and video games. Role playing and single player games are generally what I play. It is an escape from reality for me, a way to relax.
Cooking is something I love to do. I don't usually cook for myself but I will for others. I have recently been learning how to cook Asian dishes using a wok. Italian is something I enjoy cooking as well. I make a really good lasagna.

While it would be amazing if I found my soulmate, I am really looking for friends and if anything develops, that's great. And if not, I have a new friend. As for what I am looking for:
I am looking for someone that likes to use their mind, enjoys conversation, and knows who they are. Like I said earlier, I am looking for a partner to share my life with. Relationships are not 50/50. They are both people putting 100% of themselves into it.
Communication is key for any relationship and I need someone that can communicate. During a disagreement, you don't shut down or block everything out. You can discuss hard issues without yelling and that compromise is key in a relationship.
It helps if you know what your love languages are. Mine are Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch is a close second, Quality Time, Acts of Service and Gift Giving.
Religion. You can believe anything you would like. I am not religious. I have studies lots of different religions and philosophies and came up with my own belief system that works for me.
Politics. I lean towards liberal. In this area, there is a hard no for me. If you are a Trumper, do not message me. We will not get along.
As for physical traits, I don't have anything set in stone I have to have. Height, weight, ethnicity, it doesn't matter to me. There does have to be a physical attraction but I find all different women beautiful. I attracted more to who a woman is rather than what they look like. Kindness, empathy, intelligence, sense of humor, these are traits that matter more to me than physical traits.
Now for a topic I have been debating on whether or not I should add: Sex. When talking with someone, I don't want this to be a main topic right off the bat, but I do think it needs to be mentioned here. I have kinks of my own and looking for someone that has some too or willing to try new things. I have a high drive and would like for someone to match mine.

I'm still hopeful that I will find someone one day. You could call me a hopeless romantic. Still looking for someone to snuggle with while watching movies, cook dinner together, or hop in the car and go on an adventure. If something resonates within you while reading this, or you feel you match some if not all of what I have written, please feel free to send me a dm or chat. Eventually I would like to move to actual texting and phone calls, but that is after we are both comfortable with that idea.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you have a great day/night.

By the way, in my title, I was referencing "The Missing Piece Meets the Big O" by Shel Silverstein. Takes less than 5 minutes to read but has a great meaning. I would suggest reading it if you haven't already.

2023.02.02 23:30 Vollemort Asymmetrical RGB focusing issue

My question has to do with editing a photo of the moon using a new 500mm telephoto lens with a 2x converter (effective 1000mm). I noticed that separating out the RGB layers showed the blue layer out of focus while the red and green were basically perfectly in focus. I think it also results in the being moon slightly different sizes for each color. I discovered this trying to align the layers, as there was a strong blue misalignment and general chromatic aberrations. Did I just not have it completely in focus? Is blue just not a strong color from the moon?
Camera: Nikon d5200 Lena: Vivitar 1000mm telephoto manual lens Gimp: Color>decompose Location: Suburbs
I can share the image and individual layers if needed.

2023.02.02 23:30 orangebluefish11 Starting over in your 40s

I’m not positive if I’m clinically depressed, but I think I’m definitely on the “spectrum” of depression.
I’m 4 years sober off alcohol, 2 years no cigarettes. I still have bad anxiety with panic attacks.
My on and off toxic/codependent relationship with my narcissist ex came to and end finally about 2 months ago.
Being an alcoholic myself, 90% of all my close guys, going back all the way to middle school, have OD’d, been shot dead, on drugs/alcohol, in jail or dead for some other reason.
I have no friends left. They’re all gone. I have a few guys from AA I talk to, but they have their own lives and things going on, not to mention, how do you replace 25-30 years of memories.
I’m a dedicated father of 2. Both of my kids are happy and healthy and on the right path. My relationship with their mom, my ex-wife is solid.
I have a good job that pays well, but it’s very physical it’s very long hours.
Long story short, all my best friends are gone, the only person I had left, my abusive cheating ex (from after my marriage) is gone. My entire life is spent at work and when I do have time off, I’m involved in my kids activities. I basically have no life and no support system other than my mom
That’s the bad. The good thing is that I’m a homeowner, my car is paid off, my child support is current, im debt-free, I’m tall, thin, fairly handsome man and in good shape.
I don’t even know where to start, with a social life. I don’t even know where to meet women. I used to get tons of female attention, but I’m older now I just don’t get the same “traffic” I used to.
I’m sure everyone will tell me to take some time to myself and heal from the past relationship, which would be easier to do if I had any kind of support system beyond my mom.
Besides my kids, I have no real connection with anyone. I work all day alone, I come home alone, I’m in an empty house alone, I go to bed alone and wake up alone.
It’s wearing on me. I’m just looking for any kind of suggestions, thoughts, ideas. Thanks

2023.02.02 23:29 Zinnia-Sama Are there any old sayings about anticipation?

Hello, I was talking with a coworker and wanted to use a saying about anticipation but realized we didn't know any.
By sayings I mean those old sayings your grandparents used, for example:
Those short but memorable sayings is are what I am looking for. I tried looking on Google but it kept pulling up long winded quotes which are not exactly sayings as a saying is often short, easy to remember and makes its point clearly. So I decided to try reddit and see if anyone knew any off the top of their head.
