Hi everyone,
Im looking to start selling prints of my artwork. Im not wanting to invest a huge amount of money in fancy equipment, and need a lot of budget friendly options (especially since I’m not sure how well I will sell).
I have found some online sources to make budget friendly prints of my work- but the main thing that is tripping me up is that I’m not sure how to get a high quality image of my art. Do I always need to use a professional camera in order to achieve this? Can I take photos with my iPhone and then somehow digitize them in an app? Should I invest in a scanner? The process of taking a good photo is also overwhelming because I don’t always have access to the best lighting.
Does anyone have any beginner tips? Thank you in advance

Before you hit the downvote SD community let's just talk about something important: consent.
There was a recent controversy where a streamer was caught looking at deepfake porn of a colleague and that has opened up a lot of thoughtful discussions about the nature of deepfaking and consent:

PenguinZ0 on Deepfakes or the more casual and chill audience.
So let me summarize and then open it up for discussion:
Whether it is porn or not, making a fake picture of someone real without their consent is wrong.
Whether it is porn or not, focusing on creating fake images of someone real without their consent is unhealthy
It doesn't matter if it is pornographic or not because there is no "acceptable" amount of non-consent
We as a community laugh at the anti-ai world claiming txt2img is just a pedo/porn factory but we have to acknowledge the ethics of what we as a community do and how we present to the world.
Allowing celebrity or other real people without consent betrays both the technology and ourselves. It puts us right into the box that the haters want to put us in.
We need to be better than that, and the rules should reflect that.
Alright that was the summary, here's the arguments in depth
Whether it is porn or not, it is without consent. Even if it is a perfectly innocent picture, the technology is at the point where only the creator, a handful of experts, and the subject would know the truth. You could easily see pictures of Emma Watson or Daniel Craig or whatever posted on here, the hyper realistic ones, being picked up by paparazzi places or news orgs as a real photo. Now you have a situation where the person in question is being gaslit as people think they took some photo that they didn't.
It doesn't matter that it isn't real, it doesn't matter that it isn't "really them" when the average uninformed viewer can't tell the difference. Ultimately without consent, manipulating someone's identity like this is ethically wrong and likely going to be illegal as well as laws catch up to technology.
Penguinz0 described it as such: would you want someone deepfaking your face on an ugly unflattering body and just spamming it to you constantly going "this you?" Would you appreciate a super high quality AI image generated of your naked body being sent to your work? Your friends? Your family? No, of course not (or if you wouldn't mind congrats thats consent. I'm sure you can imagine people who wouldn't appreciate that).
"But people are going to do it anyway...." is another popular argument and yes, of course you can't police everyone. People break laws all the time but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have them. Just because some people drive drunk doesn't mean we should just say "oh well, guess it's okay." We as a community can be part of the good guys by stopping the normalization of deepfaking celebrities. It is sadly very common for people to showcase the quality of their models with faked images of celebs. Not cartoons or obvious fake images but the photo realistic ones. Just one search for Emma Watson on this forum results in way too many results.
Whether it is pornographic or not misses the point entirely. The point is about consent and the manipulation of the public who is unable to distinguish between what is real and what isn't. You do you in the privacy of your home because you might be responsible but these forums are open to the public and you have no control over what someone else does with your work.
"Obsessing about real figures is unheatlhy" - this goes deeper into stuff Dr K talks about Parasocial Relationships where the public invests way too much in their connection to a celebrity that is entirely one sided. Ultimately obsession with celebrities isn't healthy and for a community that prides itself on being able to create literally anything, re-creating people who already exist is both unimaginative and limiting. Don't use celebs, create your own original works! Be bold, push the envelope and support work that doesn't have to rely on the familiar to be recognized.
"But they're public figures..." also is something I've seen and that also doesn't hold weight. First of all paparazzi following around famous people and snapping pics of them taking out their garbage is itself pretty trashy but on top of that the person is at least DOING the thing that they're shown doing. If you go outside you can at least expect to be seen but the stuff that is going on here, putting real live people in completely fictional situations and then sharing them for thousands or millions to consume isn't the same.
Now I have seen people post their real faces and go "do your worst" and thus consenting to have fake images of them out in the world but let's be honest, celebrities that are being used time and time again (Johnny Depp, Emma Watson etc.) are not in that same situation. They (probably) didn't consent and there is no reasonable assumption that just because they were in a movie and a couple of red carpet shows that they can be digitally added to whatever the anonymous internet desires. Maybe in the future that will change and maybe AI fakes are just going to be "the thing" like the 21st century version of paparazzi but that doesn't mean we have to embrace it or normalize it.
tl;dr: I propose an update to the rules to ban deliberate deepfaked celebrity pictures. If you use them as an influence or a blend or it is in a medium that can easily be distinguished as not real that may be fine but the photo realistic exact or near replicas of celebrities and other real living people should not be permitted to both promote better ethics and a healthier community as well as a better public perception of AI image generation as a whole.

The last few months had been quite troubled… Dropping out of college seemed a good idea at first, but only at first. It is necessary to stress that. The fact is that ever since mother divorced from father things had been difficult, mainly due to income. I was partially to blame, for the divorce I mean, but there are some things better left unaddressed for now at least. It was among these circumstances I, then jobless and desperate, found an ad offering a nightshift security guard position at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. You see, that name ringed a lot of bells. My family was deeply intertwined with the establishment, more specifically with its foundation, so at least familiarity was on my side. However, with familiarity comes past experiences I would rather not like to remember, past experiences, though, not strong enough to keep me from assuming the post. Mother was already very overworked. I’m sure she wouldn’t have fancied me taking the job, but I never got around to telling her any details anyway, so it worked out. At around 11 pm of the same day, I was reporting for duty. A guy was there to receive me, wearing a gray uniform I distinctly recalled being purple.
“You are the new guy, right?” he asked, pointing at me.
“Yeah, that’s me.”
“Great. Let me show you around. Your shift starts at 12 am and goes all the way to 6 am. It was already on the ad, but there’s no harm in saying it again, right?”
He finished the line with a chuckle, almost as if trying to dissipate tension and trigger a response, but I didn’t answer. After opening the doors and guiding me into the building, the man resumed his introduction:
“So, you know, the job is pretty simple. You just need to look at the cameras and make sure nobody breaks in. It can get quite boring, but you can’t sleep on the job. We will know if you do, okay? Now, let’s take a look at the office.”
The building had a very musty and unpleasant smell. It was hot and damp, the floor covered by black and white tiles, impregnated by filth. We passed through a short hall and then by a main stage containing three animatronics: a brown bear by the name of Freddy Fazbear (the main character), a blue rabbit by the name of Bonnie and a yellow chicken by the name of Chica. I didn’t get a good look at them, but, from my brief glimpse, I noticed they were quite run down, very different from how I remembered them from all those years ago… Left of the main stage was a door that read “Kitchen” and an extension leading to bathroom stalls. Right of the main stage was a steel door that read “Parts and Service” and, not far from it, a smaller platform concealed by violet curtains glistering with silver dots and stars. Next to it, a dark hallway extending into the pizzeria: the way to the office. The room was dimly lit by a hanging, orange lamp, from which emanated a considerable amount of heat.
“Right, so this is it. Your workplace! Not too luxurious I know, but it will do. Since inside here can get quite steamy, you can turn on that fan, but just remember to conserve your power.”
“What?” I asked, not really understanding what he meant by that.
“You see, the restaurant is not doing quite well. Keeping it afloat has been quite a challenge, especially after previous incidents…” he coughed as if trying to withdraw the statement and continued on: “Consequently, in order to relieve the electricity bills, you have a limited power supply. I mean, it shouldn’t be a problem, but it’s good to keep in mind. Another thing: you see this door?”
It was only then I noticed a large, sliding, steel door.
“It was added due to some complaints, from people who worked here before you. You likely won’t need to use it, but, in case you do, you just press this button to close it. No big deal. Now, your main work will be directed to this monitor. Here, you will watch the cameras and be on the lookout for any suspicious activity. That’s it. Piece of cake, ain’t it?”
I just nodded while taking a look at the cubicle-like space. Hanging on the walls were some posters of the animatronics and also children’s drawings, all of them crudely made with what seemed like crayons. A soda cup stood on the table with the monitor, along with a grimy phone and a pink, rubber cupcake, equipped with eyes and a candle, likely another mascot of the place.
“Another thing, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza provides you with a uniform. You don’t need to wear it, since there is no here right now, but, in case you want to look more professional, it’s there for you,” he talked while opening the tall metal locker located opposite of the office table and showing the uniforms, all of them grey except for a very dusty and torn purple one, a true relic.
The man looked at the office one final time and extended his hand. I shook it with lacking conviction.
“My name is Jeremy by the way,” he finished off after clearing his throat.
“Mike, Mike Schmidt.”
“Nice to meet you, Mike. Welcome to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where fantasy and fun come to life!”
Jeremy waved and walked away. Just as he did so, I plummeted into the chair, which squeaked greatly in protest. Popping my fingers and speaking to myself, I said:
“What a promising career, Mike. What a promising career…”
Looking at my watch, it was 11:15 pm still. 45 minutes to go before the start of my shift. With time to spare, I opened the two office’s drawers. The first one contained a flashlight and a small spider, scurrying into the gloom as the light swept its home. The second one was a bit fuller. There were some newspapers and a small handbook. The cover was blank and, curious, I started scrolling through its pages. It seemed quite old, the paper was yellowish and full of holes, likely the result of silverfish. Most of its pages were blank, but some of them contained basic information, such as which areas were observed by which cameras, how to operate the monitor and so on. At the end of it, however, things took a sudden turn. Instead of blank pages or ones printed with instructions, there were drawings. Some of them were hard to be interpreted, but the majority seemed to show shadowy figures and some even nightmarish, ghoul-like versions of the animatronics. Creeped out, I closed the book and put it back in the drawer, under the newspapers where it originally was. The digital clock beside the cupcake announced 12 am. It was time to finally start checking on the cameras.
Like everything else, they were remarkably low quality and presumably old. The images got transmitted with a terrible static that, sometimes, made it outright impossible to see. Naturally, first I looked at the entrance: nothing. Honestly, it would have been surprising for someone to break into the restaurant in the first place, seeing as nothing of much value could be possibly robbed. Then, I focused on the main stage, containing the three aforementioned animatronic characters. Observing them more calmly, I was able to notice how poorly conserved they were. Their fur was incredibly dirty, to the point the original colors were partially lost. Their rubber faces, harboring the soulless, dead eyes, were also quite deteriorated, with some patches of paint peeling off. Given the bad cameras, one can easily conclude how bad the robots’ state truly was. Moving on to the halls, several posters and children’s drawings, both similar to the ones adorning the office, were glued to the walls. These, in turn, were covered not only by grime whose origin can only be imagined, but also by black, extensive mold. No wonder the place was having a hard time with revenue. It baffled me the pizzeria hadn’t closed down due to health concerns, but oh well…
As the night went on, I became, as could be expected, incredibly bored. Not wanting to pick up the book once again, I would just look around the office, check the cameras, watch my power go slowly, but steadily down and gaze occasionally at the clock, the minutes passing by like hours. It was during one of my camera checks I noticed the first of the many unusual events surrounding my experiences with Fazbear and associates. The purple, glimmering curtain surrounding the smaller stage had been slightly pulled back and, from inside, a single eye beamed through the darkness. I was sure that, when I had arrived, the curtain was completely closed shut, so, instantly, a shiver went down my spine. Only then too did I notice a small sign sitting close to the stage that read: “Sorry! Out of order”. At that moment I remembered Foxy, the pirate fox, a character I had some backstory with, so to speak. Either way, I decided to look at some other cameras, since maybe someone had gotten in and had messed with the curtain. However, from what I could see, there were no signs of forced entry. Going back to the main stage, I lunged backwards when I noticed one of the animatronics, Bonnie, was missing. I squeezed my eyes, opened and closed them, even pinched myself, but, indeed, Bonnie wasn’t there anymore. Two options: either the robots were moving by themselves or someone was inside the building. I considered the second one and grabbed the flashlight. It was time for some investigating.

Hey all, hoping I can pick your brains with my question here. I'm feeling incredibly burnt out right now and I want to make sure I'm not viewing this issue in some type of way because I'm burnt out.
I run a small business in the hospitality industry, that also retails specialty food & bev items. We have a member card that customers can purchase for a small fee, which earns them a free product of a certain value for every x number of points they earn on each purchase.
I had a customer reach out to me last week. He went to the shop and planned to use his member card to collect his free item. Unfortunately he forgot his card, and he asked our employee if they would give him the item for free, and then work it out later. Our employee declined and explained our policy (which is something customers do agree to in a digital sign-up form when they purchase a member card). You need to have the card with you and the policy explains why. There is also a sign posted up at the cash area. The customer got upset with the employee and emailed me as such.
In the email, the customer said that he felt my employee should have remembered him from prior visits because he remembers the employee's face, and therefore should have just given him the free item. He said it's not about the money, but the fact that he felt like no one cared to remember him and didn't trust when he said he had a card.
I understand people are entitled to how they feel, but my first argument to this is that the majority of our staff are part-time and students, so their schedules vary greatly and while it would be wonderful to remember every single person's face on a daily basis, I certainly don't expect that of them when we see hundreds of customers, sometimes thousands on a weekly basis. They do try to remember people as much as they can, and they care about our customers. Additionally, the majority of customers have been wearing face masks here up until maybe 6 months ago, and some people still do. And besides this, remembering someone has nothing to do with the policy we have for this card that is agreed to by the customer when they sign up.
I contacted the customer and apologized that they felt unappreciated, then explained our policy and that the physical card is needed to claim the item. I explained that it doesn't have to do with remembering someone's face or presence, but these measures are in place so we can keep the program running with integrity and fairness to everyone who participates, and in a way that allows us to financially maintain the program for our customers. I then offered to meet them in person at their next visit, where I'd say hello and thank them for their support, and give them their free item.
I thought this was a fair response, but the customer emailed me back and went on a tangent about how he is certain our staff remembered him, and how the issue is not about the product. I'm kind of at a loss because...if it's not about the product or the policy then what is the issue then? I truly believe the employee did not remember this person, as I watched the camera interaction and she very politely and professionally explained the policy to the customer, and I stand by her response. It's not like this policy is pages long, but it does have some very basic rules and we even have a sign posted at the cash area that states you need the card with you.
The customer included in their last email that they want to speak to me in person about this, which I already offered, but it is clear that they want to give me a stern talking to as they said "AGAIN IT'S NOT ABOUT THE ITEM!" to me in all caps as if they are yelling at me despite my best efforts to help them. I'm just struggling to keep my cool here with this customer.

Hello Guys,
until now I mainly have been into 35mm film cameras and old digital Photo-Cameras. Today I found and old camcorder from my dad in our basement. Ich charged it up and tried to make it run. It also turns on, makes noises and beeps. But that’s it already. No matter what I do, the viewfinder and lcd-screen stay black. You can see that it’s on, but it doesn’t show anything. No date, no error display, nothing. I tried resetting it a couple of times, but nothing helps. Is there an error or an defect on a specific part, wich typically causes this problem?

I've tried this several times using NVENC (NVIDIA 3070) on a Manjaro system. This Kdenlive is installed via the flatpak and is at the latest version (22.12.2). However it also fails on any type of export (x264, x265). The project and all its folders were moved to another latest updates, Manjaro machine and rendered there where it crashed with the same error.
Not sure what the problem is or how to fix it. Can you help me?

Energy and Matter are two opposing sides...two different faces of the same coin...but they work together to bring about wildly designed creations...let me explain. Although I am one who's interest leans more on the Metaphysical side of things; I can see how truly advanced we have become as a species. - technologically speaking, I mean, just think about it....in The Old Kingdom, or Ancient Egyptian Times where inventions such as the wheel or paper revolutionized society and people were fighting with swords and shields. Communication, verbal or physical otherwise, was purely organic as it only came from our bodies instead of through a medium like a phone or camera. We either traveled on land by foot or on horseback. On the seas were ships that were of simple design. We fought with Swords and Shields. We were creatively limited as compared to today as well. The most intricate workpiece I'd say was the Great Pyramid of Giza which we are still unsure about the construction techniques behind it. Now, this read is going to take a different turn at this point but stay with me. We couldn't manipulate pure energy at all. Fire, which could be considered as a mixture between matter and energy, had been discovered by then. And excuse me for jumping off the timeline but speaking of fire...think about heat as a source. I saw many post on how do better textual inversion, some good.
But on all this post,until now, i see a bad mistake about image used for train.
All suggest to use image 512x512 on sd1.* and 768*768 in sd 2.*
THIS IS AN ERROR!
Output not depend on size of image used for training, but on model you load.
you can train sd 1.* or 2.* with image like 2048x2048 or more high(depends on your pc).
The output is based on model you have loaded, so if you load an sd1.* you train an embedding for these version.
This is an example of an embedding for sd1.* trained with 20 images of one of my model(10 images, 10 specular) at 2048x2048 resolution.

As you can see i get really good eyes,teeth,skin.
The prompt was simple: High detailed professional photograph of embedding_name, sharp focus

The value not showed here are value you can change as you need.

On 6Gb train with these setting need about 30 min.

Tips for not wasting time:
Set Save an image to log directory every N steps to 100.
Check every image created, if about 5 image you start getting crap and inconsistent result's, stop. I don't mean if you don't get realistic photo,on train sample image is normal, but i mean if you are training a woman, and you get a man, a dog, or malformed people you stop. that mean some of your image are not good. need to check and prune them.
For sampling image, use quality high resolution image. Waste phone photo, it's really compressed, use dslr photo do difference in details.
If you want to train a face(this is the case i posted here) take a photo with full face from different position,angle and expression. and minimum one from back. keep all head in photo.
If is possible use different backgroud they do contrast on subject. if your subject is blonde, use colors like blue,cyan,grey. using non planar color background is preferably. don't use same background on all train photo.
Having good light on subject, like studio light. high contrast photo ruin the train.

I hope these help you on do better embedding.

This means everything is giving off a energy due to these almost invisible pieces of matter. These mediums carry all other energy aspects such as sound or light. The frequency energy aspect has one superior quality that relates to its invisibility....wirelessness. Through crazy technology we are able to do what was once unimaginable. It is more intriguing than a cordless remote changing the channel on you TV. Today, we are able to manipulate these aspects in crazy ways like sharing a video on Youtube or sending a text message. This may not seem that wild at a glance, but like I said you have to look deeper. It is unreal how all of these things work. Now I am one who believes that numbers mathematics for lack of a better term is neither natural nor artificial. Numbers and the alphabet are an invention this is true, but existence has and always will work by mathematics. An example of this is calculating the speed or force of a moving object. We are using artificial numbers to describe and explain a naturally occurring action. In computers coding is super intricate and multi-layered. The display that you are reading this on right now and all the things you are able to see on it...deep down are fueled by nothing but a series of numbers and letters working together...along with the complicated design of microchips and circuits to produce visuals and audio. It is just baffling how it all came together...and how it advanced so quickly in such a short time frame from its inception. And speaking of displays when Liquid Crystals were discovered, we really saw a rise in complexity. A Liquid Crystal is a state of matter that occurs between solid and liquid. We use them not to manipulate energy, but to display natural existence on an artificial screen...get it? Do you see the weird and somewhat wacky ways in which nature or energy works with what is artificial or matter to make mind-blowing creations on and it works in very complex ways with many parts. And do not even get me started on the Internet, the transfinite infinite online ether space of the world. The matter aspect here is the series of computers made of various physical properties which produce an invisible infinite-like ethereal cloud by the use of its invisible frequencies and waves. That is pure power plain and simple and it does not even seem like it does it? Overall, I believe that existence has truly come very far....who knows...in the future maybe we will be able to imitate our natural senses like our touch, taste, sight, etc. through matter....like living in VR Game like that show Sword Art Online. I believe it helps describe the trancelike passage of time...how Energy and Matter advanced over time...where nothing was in the beginning of time...but even Nothing is Something?
Energy and Matter are two opposing sides...two different faces of the same coin...but they work together to bring about wildly designed creations...let me explain. Although I am one who's interest leans more on the Metaphysical side of things; I can see how truly advanced we have become as a species. - technologically speaking, I mean, just think about it....in The Old Kingdom, or Ancient Egyptian Times where inventions such as the wheel or paper revolutionized society and people were fighting with swords and shields. Communication, verbal or physical otherwise, was purely organic as it only came from our bodies instead of through a medium like a phone or camera. We either traveled on land by foot or on horseback. On the seas were ships that were of simple design. We fought with Swords and Shields. We were creatively limited as compared to today as well. The most intricate workpiece I'd say was the Great Pyramid of Giza which we are still unsure about the construction techniques behind it. Now, this read is going to take a different turn at this point but stay with me. We couldn't manipulate pure energy at all. Fire, which could be considered as a mixture between matter and energy, had been discovered by then. And excuse me for jumping off the timeline but speaking of fire...think about heat as a source. Think about how we can manipulate that aspect of energy (fire) as a temperature source (heating/cooling) in the modern world by combining materials such as metal and electricity (another amazing energy source that I will get to later) and making things such as AC heaters and coolers...the complexity of the pathways we went to over Time in order to design something that can manipulate such energy is insane when you look at the detail of the design...as opposed to the past. I can get very deep about with certain inventions which I will do later. And also, while I am on the subject, I like how heat can be represented physically as fire...and the cold as ice...think about how opposing each of those densities are physically. Picture Fire and Ice in your mind's eye...It's the amazing qualities of Energy and Matter and this is what best describes this pair. Energy is much less dense or physically transparent while Matter is much more dense and physically non-transparent. Yet, somehow two these characteristics to be manipulated into fantastical ways. Fire also gives off light...another dense Energy aspect...whereas Ice does not. I think that's cool - no pun intended. OK, sorry for getting off topic...back to the TimeLine. Let us jump to the 19th century where we can talk about another incredible energy aspect and its inventions - Electricity - because that is where things start getting more interesting to me. Electricity is a flowing type of energy that is found in nature not only in lightning but also in our bodies helping our nervous system. The ways that artificial matter or technology works in order to mimic or imitate the properties of the natural energetic elements of existence is just astounding to me. You could see a light bulb as a technology that uses matter such as glass and wirings of different elements to produce or mimic light and I could go on and on about how the design of a battery - which uses chemical energy, (Also an artificial energy source as opposed to the natural ones talked about above, which has the potential to be very complex) can change this unnatural energy into natural-like electricity. That word is emboldened because that is just the thing. Matter can only imitate, manipulate, and/or expound upon what we see Natural energy does in existence, but it can never be Energy itself.
