2023 foreign proxy server (Proxy Server) recommended! (difference from VPN + working principle + purpose)
What is the difference between a proxy and a VPN?
When we want to visit a certain webpage, our Internet devices (such as computers, mobile phones, and tablets) will send a connection request to our network service provider (ISP: such as China Telecom), and the ISP will try to Share our IP address with the web page we are trying to access, then the target web page will grant the device access to it after receiving our IP, and finally, you have opened the target website!
Here: the IP address will reflect some of our information: such as identity information, residential area and online activities, etc.!
The so-called Proxy Server (proxy for short) is to shield these IP information!
In this process, the proxy server acts as a "middleman", passing data between you (usually called the client) and the target server (usually called the network terminal).
When using a proxy, your IPS will send the proxy's IP to the target website instead of your own IP, so it seems that your proxy has visited the target website, not you. Hidden And replaced your IP!
Similar to a proxy, a VPN (full name "Virtual Private Network", that is, a virtual private network.) will also hide your IP through a remote server and reroute your Internet data traffic, so that neither the ISP nor the other party's website can get it. Know your original IP or location.
Also, the VPN client establishes a secure tunnel with the VPN server, so it also encrypts all data flowing between you and the network, which is the main difference between a proxy server and a VPN. Of course there are some other small differences, see below.

What is a Proxy Server proxy server?
Proxy server usage:
Referred to as a proxy, it is the most an "intermediary". Generally speaking, it exists in the form of a website. Users only need to use the webpage of the proxy server and link to the webpage they want to visit, and then they can use it as usual browsing.
How the proxy works:
The proxy server visits your target website by itself, and downloads the content of this website to a large hard disk buffer, and then passes the downloaded content to your page. This is equivalent to browsing the target website.
Benefits of using a proxy:
You do not need to visit the target website directly, so the target website cannot obtain your IP address, and instead obtains the IP address of the proxy server. This way you can hide your private geolocation.
When you visit most proxies, they will usually ask you to choose a country where the proxy server is located. You can access the target website through a proxy server in the corresponding country, so that the target website will think that you are visiting in the corresponding country. For example, if the website you want to visit blocks your country, then you can use a proxy server to replace the IP of another country. As long as the location of the proxy server is not within the blocked range, you can access it through the proxy server .
Proxy server advantages:
When you want to break the website block, choosing a proxy server may be the easiest and most convenient way.
No need to install a software APP, just find a suitable server, and then visit its website. (There are also a small number of installed agents, ranging from mobile apps to browser plug-ins to desktop apps)
Great temporary solution, especially when you find a website locked and need quick access.
Can be used on any operating system, since many proxy servers serve web pages.
Proxy server disadvantages:
General proxy server can only browse the web
The transmitted content is not encrypted
Long-term use will slow down and the speed is not stable

What is a VPN (Virtual Private Network)?
Many people are confused about proxies and VPNs, so let’s also talk about the more famous VPN services!
The main difference between a proxy and a VPN is whether the data sent by the user to the server is encrypted.
This encryption also protects against government surveillance, website tracking, and any malicious parties or hackers who might try to intercept and attack your device.
working principle:
To use VPN, you need to install the software first, and the user's information will be encrypted by the software first, so that the data between the user and the intermediary server is inaccessible. The logic of subsequent related transmission data is the same as that of the proxy, but it can be used in any content other than web pages. apply.
Advantages of VPN:
A VPN can hide what you do on the Internet. A VPN establishes a tunnel from the user's end point, and no third party, including the ISP, can "see" what you transmit.
Concealment means security. Many criminals will intercept data packets sent by users to steal user privacy, but users don’t have to worry if they pass through VPN. For criminals, these encrypted data packets are useless. Sending personal information or conducting VPNs can be considered for property operations.
Stable, good connection for long-term use.

What are proxies used for?
Here again, I will systematically talk about the benefits and uses of agents. If you choose an agent, you will know what to use it for!
  1. Break through the geographical restrictions of the network
At present, many foreign websites, software, games, etc. have restrictions, so using a proxy IP can solve the problem and break through the restrictions, such as Google, TwitteFacebook/INS, YouTube/1024/P station, etc. It is impossible to visit these overseas websites in China, so using a proxy can facilitate and objectively visit them.
  1. Proxy server share Internet access
Many people are using the proxy server to share the Internet, using the wired broadband of the LAN to speed up the access speed of intranet users, and can also share the proxy to access the Internet. At the same time, it can be used as a firewall to protect the security of the intranet, monitor network transmission records, and strengthen network security.
  1. Improve download speed
Break through the download limit. For example, the download resources provided by some websites are downloaded by one ip and one thread. At this time, proxy ip can be used to realize multiple ip downloads, and multiple resources can be downloaded at the same time.
  1. Hide your real IP
When using proxy ip, we can hide our IP to prevent hackers from attacking, and no longer worry about IP being blocked.
  1. Applicable to various scenarios
Market Ressarch:Analyze the market & gather information from each niche.
Sales & E-commerce:Collect pricing data on every product across the web to get and maintain a competitive advantage
Social Media for Marketing:Dominate your industry space on social media with smarter campaigns, anticipate the next big trends
SERPs & SEOs:Optimize digital presence and claim your place on the ladder of success.
Ad Tech:Protect your brand, verify ads, & conduct real-time ad intelligence for optimized data-driven campaigns
Travel Aggregation:Compare prices and achieve the competitive advantage straight away.
Sneaker & Tickets:Improve your Sneakers retail game without limitations or restrictions.
Data Scraping:Use the power of web data to improve the world.

Which type of agent is better to use
There are many proxy IP brands on the market. Although they are all proxy IPs, their specific functions are also different, because proxy IPs are also divided into types. You can choose which proxy IP according to different needs. Let’s see which type of proxy IP compares easy to use?
  1. Http proxy: the most commonly used proxy, the proxy we refer to in daily life generally refers to this kind of proxy, and it is also the best proxy to use. Proxy client's http access, mainly proxy browser to access web pages, its ports are generally 80, 8080, 3128 and so on.
  2. SSL proxy is also called HTTPS proxy, which supports http proxy with the highest encryption strength of 128 bits, and can be used as a proxy for accessing encrypted websites. An encrypted website refers to a website starting with https//. The standard port for ssl is 443.
  3. HTTP CONNECT proxy: It allows users to establish a TCP connection to a proxy server on any port. This proxy can be used not only for HTTP, but also for FTP, IRC, RM streaming services, etc.
  4. FTP agent: The ftp software on the proxy client computer accesses the ftp server, and its ports are generally 21 and 2121.
  5. Telnet agent: It can act as a proxy for the telnet of the communicator, used for remote control, and is often used during intrusion. Its port is generally 23.
  6. Socks agent: It is an all-round agent, just like an adapter board with many jumpers, it simply connects the system at one end to the other end. Multiple protocols are supported, including http, ftp requests and other types of requests. It is divided into two types: socks 4 and socks 5. socks 4 only supports TCP protocol, while socks 5 supports TCP/UDP protocol, and also supports various authentication mechanisms and other protocols. Its standard port is 1080.
  7. TUNNEL proxy: The data packets converted by the HTTPTunnet program are encapsulated into http requests (Request) to penetrate the firewall, allowing the use of the HTTP server to do anything that TCP can do. The function is equivalent to Socks5.
  8. Ssso agent: It acts as an agent for the ssso program on the client computer to access remote websites. It is a super agent with SSL encryption strength and supports socks.
  9. Flat Proxy: Proxy the flatsurfer program on the client computer to access remote websites. It is a special proxy with high-intensity encrypted data flow, supports socks, and can set up three cascades at most, and can set traversal proxy. Its port is generally 6700.

2023.02.03 04:38 rockingwing Welcome to Trackmania - A Beginner's Guide

Hi and welcome to Trackmania!
You've just downloaded the game for the first time and now you're wondering how to get started, where to get all those fancy overlays your favorite streamers have on their screen, how to play Bingo or generally just how to become good at the game? Then this guide is for you!
Let's take things slow and start with the basics...
How to get started in Trackmania
Trackmania is available on Steam, Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store and soon available on PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series consoles and Amazon Luna.
Once you're booted into the game and selected your region, you want to head into the Play section of the main menu and go to the Training campaign. This special campaign consists of 25 rather basic tracks that are meant to introduce you to the different surfaces and special effect blocks you'll come across in this game. Try to aim for the Gold medal on most of these tracks, that should provide a good challenge for any newcomer. Note: The Training campaign has not been updated since the launch of the game back in July 2020 and some of the tracks in it aren't representative of how certain surfaces actually get used in maps these days. They also do not explain the Plastic surface or interactions with Water. Those got introduced to the game in July 2021.
After you're done with the Training campaign, jump into the Seasonal Campaign (at the time of writing this is Winter 2023) and try to aim for Gold or Author medals on all tracks. If you're a complete beginner to the Trackmania series, going for all Author medals in your first campaign is probably a bit too ambitious, but it doesn't hurt to try.
Wait, what's an Author medal?
Excellent question! Trackmania has 4 different medals that prove your mastery of a track: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Author. The Author medal is set by the track authomapper after they're done building the track. Once you get into community-created tracks, Author times are generally more difficult than in campaign tracks, especially when it comes to tracksthat get featured as Track of the Day.
Okay, I got all Gold/AT medals. What next?
If you haven't already, you should consider buying one of the paid access tiers. Standard Access is the cheapest out of the available options and gives you access to 99% of the content the game has to offer. More on that later. You should also redeem the VIP keys from here and enable the settings option "Always Display Records" from the HUD category to be able to watch streamers'/pro players' ghosts in the seasonal campaign and copying/learning from the lines they take.
With that out of the way, it's time to introduce you to the main attraction of the game, Online Multiplayer.
Trackmania features several game modes for Online Multiplayer, of which the free-to-play (demo) Starter Access can only access a limited subset.
First off we have Ranked Matchmaking, which until Gold rank features the current Seasonal Campaign tracks of varying difficulty (Bronze: White and Green difficulties, Silver: Blue to Black). At the time of writing this is still played in a 3 versus 3 team based format, however this will soon be changed to 2 versus 2. In the Ranked Teams mode, players all start at the same time and depending on how fast they finish, their team gets points. All those points get tallied up and the team with the higher amount of points wins the round. If your team wins enough rounds to win the match, you get Matchmaking Rating (MMR) points based on how well you performed within your team. Bonus points go to the highest scoring player in the match (MVP).
Second, you have Royal, which is a wacky and fun gamemode featuring a team based battle royale style game mode similar to Fall Guys. Tracks in Royal behave different from all the other tracks you'll encounter in Trackmania, they're split up into five stages. The faster your team finishes stages, the higher your team ranks and the longer you will survive. These stages get progressively harder the further you get, so mastery of the car and the game's numerous mechanics is recommended if you want to make it far consistently or even want to be crowned the Royal Champion.
Third, there's Track of the Day and the thrice daily Knockout event held on that track - Cup of the Day. Note: This feature requires Standard or Club Access. These tracks are built by the community and chosen after being reviewed in the Map Review server of the game. A new Track of the Day releases every day at 7PM CET (CEST from like March to October) and the Cup of the Day starts at the same time with two re-runs of the event happening 8 and 16 hours later respectively. In Cup of the Day, you have 15 minutes to get familiar with the track, while trying to improve your time. Based on the time driven within those 15 minutes, you will be assigned to a division of 64 players each against which you will then face in a Knockout event. Try to survive as long as possible to be eventually crowned the Cup of the Day winner for your division.
Last but not least, there's the Arcade servers. Note: This feature requires Standard or Club Access for unlimited access. Free-to-play (Starter access) has access to a rotation of Arcade servers and the official Seasonal Campaign server. This is regular online portion of the game that many players that might have played previous Trackmania titles are very familiar with. Here you will find a multitude of servers with playlists of tracks curated by the community. Some even feature so called server controllers with additional features like server records, a track voting system to show how populagood a track is, etc.
Okay, cool, but how can I build my own map?
Welcome to what makes Trackmania so great - the map editor.
In the Main Menu, clicking on Create lets you jump into the Map Editor, of which there are several variants.
There's the Basic and Advanced Mouse + Keyboard editors and the Gamepad editors. For ultimate track building freedom, I recommend the Advanced Keyboard + Mouse editor. Note: The Advanced KB/M editor currently requires Standard or Club Access. This restriction will be lifted with the launch of the console versions.
Since Mapping is a very subjective and creative process, I won't delve into what you should and shouldn't build. Just remember to add exactly one start, numerous checkpoints along your route and one or several finish blocks at the end of your route.
Got it, now how can I get all those overlays, Medal windows, play RMC/RMS or Bingo?
May I introduce you to Openplanet? Openplanet is THE modding platform for Trackmania games. Created by the talented Miss, Openplanet has been around since 2016 and has since become a staple in pretty much every regular Trackmania player's must haves. It lets you easily install plugins that add quality of life features and additional functionality to the game.
Couple suggestions for plugins, in no particular order: Ultimate Medals, Dashboard, ManiaExchange, Tweaker.
For more information, check Openplanet's website and join their Discord server.
Can you explain the payment model of the game to me? I'm confused with all these access tiers and subscription costs. Do I have to pay monthly for the game?
First of all, no, the subscription costs are not monthly. They're an upfront cost for 1 year or 3 years and support the ongoing development of this game. If there were no subscriptions, we'd probably have a Trackmania 2022 or Trackmania 2023 by now. And no, the game will not feature microtransactions for the foreseeable future, the developers have been very clear on this. Now, here's a breakdown of the features of Starter, Standard and Club access in a concise manner.
Starter Access Free version of the game. Gives you access to the Training and current Seasonal campaigns, the rotating Arcade server, Matchmaking, Royal and the Simple Editor. No access to other custom maps, public servers, in-game chat, skins, in-game ghosts, club features (e.g. hosting your own rooms) or the Advanced Editor.
Standard Access 10€/year or regional equivalent. Gives you access to custom maps and public servers (incl. TOTD and COTD and previous campaigns). Unlocks the Advanced Editor. No access to skins, leaderboard ghosts or club features (e.g. hosting your own rooms).
Club Access 30€/year or regional equivalent. Gives you full access to all of the game's features including skins, leaderboard ghosts, club features (hosting your own rooms, organizing events, creating campaigns, uploading skins, and much more).
My question wasn't answered here/I'm still confused.
Don't fret! Trackmania's community is rather helpful and welcoming to new players, we get a ton of questions all the time and are always happy to help. If you still have specific questions, feel free to post them as response to this thread or join the Official Trackmania Discord where you can interact with the community and answer as many questions as you want. The Discord server also has a community-run support section that is targeted towards people having very specific questions or technical difficulties.
Thanks for reading and see you on the track - welcome to the club!

I can't get login to my Minecraft account!
These image links are always broken and it is VERY frustrating. I use two email/password combinations to log in. I've tried my old and outdated information: nothing. I try my what SHOULD BE CORRECT, NEW information from when I migrated my account a couple of years ago: nothing. I try yo use the single-use code that appears to be an option, but there is nothing to click! This link is so broken and whenever I try to gain access to my Microsoft account via outlook I have a similar broken-link issue. Nothing is clickable and I don't know what to do. I can't use a code on the launcher, I can't reset my password, and whenever my information (which literally cannot be incorrect. I have the right password/username) is entered, I can't even use the "next" button to log in.
Is this an issue with the launcher? Microsoft? My PC? I would greatly appreciate the help, and if it's a different issue, it would be awesome if someone could direct me to where I can get help for this issue.
Before I enter any info. Also, the blue font atop dark grey is nauseating. ↓

Drama Reviews
We welcome well-written detailed drama reviews. Reviews should be for completed series only -- that is the series has finished airing all of its episodes and the reviewer has watched the entire drama. Reviews where the reviewer has not fully completed the drama will be removed. For those that just want to write a short blurb about a drama, feel free to share in any of our weekly discussion threads instead. See our tips on how to write a helpful review.
Reviews are moderated according to our moderation guidelines for reviews for content. Other rules and policies, such as On-Air or review megathread rules, still apply. Notably, reviews are subject to moderation for frequency under our Rehashed Discussions rule.
Fanart And Memes
We have a Designated Day, currently every Tuesday from 00:00-23:59 KST (UTC +9), on which we allow our members to share up to two (2) self posts of either qualified Fanart or Memes on KDRAMA. Fanart and meme posts are not permitted outside of Designated Days. Please review our Designated Day rules fully before submission.

I want to start writing that I have written a draft book which can have a global impact:
"I believe this book will change a lot in the world" - https://imgur.com/7Pu4JOy
"OMG - easily the most organized and complete presentation of any and all arguments I have come various books, articles, videos, lectures, etc." - https://imgur.com/34mEe8M
"Before this I would've killed for my religion" - https://imgur.com/ZmZ4vMK
"This has got to be hand down one of the best books on debunking islam I have ever read" - https://imgur.com/MzZCpuo
"You are doing humanity a huge favor" -https://imgur.com/EKSQrdc
"your work is changing the world" - https://imgur.com/sg4LK85
"When I was young there used to be this book everyone would give out called "A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam". I have something better. "Disproving Islam" by DisprovingIslam" - https://imgur.com/r1tsLtX (He is a famous former Muslim).
"There are many books about how Islam is false, and about Sharia's incompatibility with Western values, and about jihad violence. Never has it all been put together so efficiently as in the new book Disprovingislam Islam - which you can download for free here" - https://imgur.com/7jrFbXk (His books were used by the FBI, and he gave seminars to the CIA, FBI, US Military and many others)
"Just saying simply that this is useful is an understatement. Wow, this is very valuable." - https://imgur.com/9yIzuoW
"This is the best book I have ever read" - https://imgur.com/GGZwh83
Please, read every single comment on these images. If I had used 10000 hours more in the time I had been possessed in the last two years, I would had every single hour a comment like this.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, to answer your question. I don't give a damn about what you have accomplished in your last 1000 lives, or your next 1000 lives - I have accomplished more than this. If my work wouldn't had been disrupted in the last 2 years with the other soul, my book could had been 20x better. I used 5000 hours in one year before the spirit possession (and an extra month later), and planned to used 10000-15000 extra in the next couple of years - around 10-18 hours a day in 4-6 years.
In short, my work can reduce terrorism at least 50-70 percent. If Bin Laden would had read my work, 9/11 would not had happened. Half of Taliban and ISIS would perish, and the Iranian Islamic Regime, just a country to mention, would be democratic. Christian persecution would be reduced, and wars and civil wars would had reduced - but this is mostly if I had used 10000 hours in the last to years, if it weren't for the spirit possession. Every single time someone gets killed in the Middle-East by Jihad, I feel like my work would had made a difference - and it still can. Now read the Pew Research from 2012 about how many hundreds of millions, if not at least a billion and a half, wants sharia law - my work can have a change. If only I wouldn't had been spirit possesed, it would be an entire different matter.
You have made it clear in your books, but I have not read them. I have only read the part in your Exorcists's Handbook about exorcism. It's hard to read when two souls are communicating in my head, where one of them is mine.

You have tried to contact me through other people and that is no ok.
There are only two ways I tried to contact you, with this post, which is now deleted, and since this is about the future of the world, I had no issues to contact your husband through his website - he can move his ass and give the message to you.

You have been pretty rude and nasty with people in this thread who offered reasonable advice, even if you felt it was not right for you.
Gosh, how stupid you are. Firstly I haven't been "pretty rude and nasty", I just really wrote the truth about the persons stupidity. How dare he waste my time with "It's not the place to post this kind of question here". It's none of his business. I didn't ask him/her about that. Secondly, you wrote "people". It's only one person. Learn the difference. Thirdly he wrote what you might say "seek mental health". I didn't ask for his opinions. I have talked with a catholic priest in late novembedecembejanuary, and since it is not a demon possesion (which I agree), he said that I'm mentally ill, and asked to talk with psychiatrist and try anti-psychotics. I said I have done that. So the problem is that since it's not in the Bible that there can be two souls in one body, his conclusion is that I'm mentally ill. But if it was written in the Bible that two souls could inhabit a body, he wouldn't had said that. So it pissed me off that he is "confident" that I'm mentally ill, just because the Bible says a body can't inhabit two souls. Furthermore I posted in other subreddits, and many comments wrote about "try seeking mental health professionals/psychiatrists". I DIDN'T ASK FOR THAT. I'M 100% CERTAIN THAT IT IS ANOTHER SOUL/SPIRIT! Or demon in disguise. Fourthly, he doesn't even know the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist! You have no idea how stupid it is to get a comment from someone who doesn't know the difference between those two. Oh wait, you don't have a medicine/pharmacy degree, that's why you think it was rude and nasty, without thinking about how awhul that small comment was. It's is like getting medical advice by a 10 year old child to a person with a medical degree - that has lived with another spirit in the body for two years. That's how it felt, and I'm sure he didn't even think about his comment. And even you writing "reasonable advice". Dear God.

Clean your shit up, grow the fuck up and stop being a whiny baby
Now let's get this straight. I have learned many skills in my life, studied a bit construction engineering, then physics, then law, and then got a bachelor in pharmacy. I'm considered a semi-professional in sports and basketball: This is an image of me back in 2017:
https://imgur.com/SLDI6UW
I bet you never grew up with a body like this. Furthermore I can mention 10-15 other skills, and of course having spiritual experiences (not including the spirit possession). So really, I could debunk Islam in all fields. It's just a shame that I only used 5000 hours in one year. Every single day that goes by, I see destruction, and more people are getting killed by sharia, jihad and terrorism, and honor killings - and persecutions. Now you wrote "grow the fuck up, and stop being a whiny baby". I mean being beheaded by jihadists, is not something to joke about. Plus writing this book, and knowing that if I get hacked and terrorists would find my adress and kill me. Oh wait, I actually got hacked my website! And my e-mail, adresse and phone number was known to somebody (don't know who) - and yet I still kept writing the book 10 hours or more a day, knowing that someone could knock on my door. Writing to me "grow the fuck up and stop being a whiny baby", oh dear God. You wouldn't dare to even begin with a work like this. I have many words descriptions about you, but I'll just leave it with that.

then you may find the help that you need.
Let me be very clear here: If you don't help me, I will guarantee you that in the after-life you will be known as the soul who let chaos destroy the world. I have tried to get help for two years, on and off, and almost nobody seems to care much, or can't help me, or won't help me.

Until then, you are just one of many thousands of people wallowing in their own dirt and beings that have attracted by their own behaviour
I will garanatue you, that I'm not like the thousands of people wallowing in their own dirt bullshit, licking your ass, you trying to get as many followers as possible - as you probably claim. Furthermore in the period, there were times were I felt being controlled, even before the spirit possesion. Maybe someone made me do that, so I wouldn't finish the book.
and I don't have time to wipe your ass for you.
As I said, I will make you accountable in the after-life where you will be known by everyone that you didn't do anything, and hundreds of next of your lives, of what's to come. You really have no idea. I'll just give you this comment:
"I pray because you've done a great job. That book need to get to the hands of millions or more." - https://imgur.com/oeARHUo

Once you take the step towards taking real responsibility for yourself in all ways, then the help you need will find you.
Shut the fuck off, you ant. I have had more resonsibility than you ever had in all your previous lives and ever will, you pussy. Now I'm saying to you again: If you don't help me, you will be known as the person in the after-life who let chaos destroy the world.
I litterally had to come forward with my private information in public to make it clear to you, because it's not possible to DM you.
Now. I don't know if it is possible, but if you have the possibility of reading minds, I would let you do that with me - and you will know it's not a joke.

2023.02.03 03:40 mudderfudden Is there any way to simplify my script?

I went through Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and MS Edge, found all of their shortcut keys and made an AHK script to disable all of them. Below, is a sample of my script, which is a bit long.
Is there any way to simplify this code by possibly using loop?
This is AHKV1. I'm very interested in moving to AHKV2, as well but know very little about it. Would this script in V2 be similar or identical?
If I remember correctly, the ^ means the CTRL key.
Is there a way to do something like CTRL+ ? Or any other way to simplify this code?

2023.02.03 03:23 NebNegreb I got into a car accident today because I was emotionally distracted.

For context, I'm a 25 year old man and I currently live with my parents. I feel like I've been going through a rough patch for awhile, and don't really know what to do. I went to school for a useless degree in TV/media, and while I work full time at a local TV station, it's a dead-end job and I'm working nights. I don't really know what I want to do with my life, and I've lost a lot of passion since graduating 3 years ago.
I've been a late bloomer in just about every aspect of my life. It took me until almost 23 to even get my driver's license, I've never moved out on my own, never dated anyone seriously before (or even experienced physical affection outside of family), etc.
When I first started driving, I had gotten into two accidents about a month in between the two, drove fine for a year, then got into a third the following year. After the third accident I put a lot of effort into improving my driving. I even downloaded an app from my insurance account that tracks your driving and lets you know how you're doing, and (until today) I was doing great.
For the past few days my mind's been all over the place. I've been worrying about a career, dating, a lot of personal things that would probably be better to save for therapy. Admittedly, on the drive home from the grocery I was ruminating on these issues pretty heavily. Making a left turn into our neighborhood, I looked before I hit the gas, but obviously wasn't paying full attention because I got in an accident. I was pretty close to hitting another flawless year, too. Surprisingly, despite it almost being a head-on collision nobody was injured, and the cop must have noticed I was having an awful day because he didn't put a mark on my record at all. Just gave me a ticket with a $100 fine and told me I had to pay it by X date. I still felt like a complete idiot, standing on the side of the road, basically crying while everyone drove past because I was so disappointed in myself.
My dad tried to make me feel better by pointing out the fact that even though my insurance will likely go up further, at the end of the year my first 2 accidents fall off the insurance, and I have plenty of money to pay for my repairs. This doesn't change the fact that I've been beating myself up over it for the past six hours. I'm going back to therapy next week, and I might honestly give ADHD medication a try, if they recommend it. Maybe it will help me out a little bit.
I think I'm just frustrated because I'm tired of living with my parents, working a dead end job. I'm tired of being an anxious mess because of my childhood, which wasn't even that bad. I just want to move out on my own, be alone for awhile, and take time to figure myself out.
TL;DR: After a few minor accidents years ago and making improvements in my driving skills, I got in a big accident today because my anxiety and worries have been in the back of my head all day. Nobody got hurt, the other driver and the cop didn't make a big deal out of it, and the only real outcome is my monthly insurance will likely go up for the rest of the year, but I feel like a complete idiot.

2023.02.03 03:19 tin_man6328 Is it possible to update to the next version of MacOS (12.6.1) instead of all the way to Ventura?

I used a boot drive to download (downgrade) to Monterey 12.3.1, because Ventura has proven absolute crap for Logic Pro X users.
In settings > software update it shows Ventura as the available update, but if I click the blue “Other Updates” or “More Updates” it loads a window listing the other updates with selected check boxes before each one. In this case, Monterey 12.6.1 and Safari, but Ventura is not one of these boxes. I don’t want Ventura (yet), but I’d like to update Monterey to the next version.
The last time I remember trying to do this, it went all the way to the latest OS update. Is it possible to avoid this?

2023.02.03 02:58 cmickledev Front-end dev, working with WordPress for the first time. Advice?

Hey there! So, my friend has a Tattoo shop, and his website he made himself, it's done quite poorly, bad styling, bad contrasts with fonts, not following responsive layout design, cluttered, disorganized. I want to remake it and do an overhaul for him. I can do this with HTML CSS and JS, or even using React or Next, (though that's probably overkill).
He's currently doing everything through and has made things with WordPress, and hosting on BlueHost.
Is there a way I could make a site out for him with HTML and CSS, and JS, and he can still use WordPress for his content management, of uploading pics, and changing / posting blog content etc? Any advice on this?
Not looking to spend a ton of time on it, more as a surprise nice thing to do during some free time for a friend.
Thanks for any help, hope you have a good day!

2023.02.03 02:44 HecateCleric Apple Watch playlist won't play already-listened to episodes

I have a playlist that downloads to my watch, and it syncs fine and there's no issue with the downloads afaik. However, once I listen to an episode, I can't replay it from my watch--it will skip to the next new episode in the playlist no matter how many times I try to go back and play one that's been listened to. I can't find any setting that might be causing it, but I'm also very new to having a smart watch and not sure if I'm missing a config option somewhere. It's a series 7 running watchOS 9.3, if relevant.
Apologies if this has been answered before, I looked through as many Apple Watch posts as I could!

2023.02.03 02:26 GongoBongoReddit Anyone experiencing REALLY slow ResWifi speeds??

For context, I regularly play online games, stream movies & shows, attend online classes, etc, but mostly the game experience is affected for me. I live in the crown/merrill apartments.
Ever since my roommates and I moved back in from winter break our wifi speed has been ATROCIOUS. I used to pull an average of 300mb download speed but now I get like 30-40mb. All the games I play are barely enjoyable and super laggy, and I have an average of 120 ping, peaking up to 500+ frequently.
I'm having someone come check out our router next week but I wanted to see if anyone else has been experiencing bad network since the start of this quarter. Thanks.

2023.02.03 02:19 CSQUITO Urgent: Am I (23) overreacting about this situation at work, or do I need to quit?

**tl;dr So this is very long and detailed, but I will try to give the main points. Unfortunately I don't know anyone who can advise on these things. I will start by saying I work in an industry that is known to be problematic. My company is the governing body (technically a non-profit) that oversees the industry - like a council. I'm 23, and I'm 2 months into the job. I work in the central team of the business. The team is split into two channels with 4 people on each team. So I am 4/4, the person above me I will refer to as 3/4, and so on. The head of the team, I'll call Sylvia, oversees all eight people. So 9 altogether. My contract lays out a three month probation. The end of next week marks two months done. Although it was previously a target company for the purposes of experience, in a small industry, that technically is still a function I want to work in, I feel that I've seen quite a few red flags and I might resign at the end of three months.**
I immediately noticed orange flags from the day I started that weren't really specifically about anything I did:
  1. On day one, There was a clear division of the company from the "main team" of 9, and they were openly bitching about the other team. At one point in a group chat including members from the other team, someone had made an error, and my team were saying "what the fuck is wrong with them".
  2. My second day of the job was the work Christmas party, and I was sat next to the head of the team, Sylvia who is 25+ years in the business. I come from a more traditional academic background, and I went to high ranked university. I don't personally believe this kind of thing means much, and I don't wave it around. However I have noticed some people have a certain defensive reaction if they know this about me. It's also an industry where people tend not to come from those kind of schools, and usually creative degrees like marketing, journalism, communication. I also happen to come from a privileged background (again I don't wave that around I am estranged from my abusive family and have been financially independent since 18). I only give this context to truly explain that at this point the orange flags weren't about anything I did. I noticed that Sylvia seemed to be trying to brag. By a certain point she literally said "Yeah I have loads of designer stuff, lots of Prada shoes, stuff like that". I was polite about it, but I feel that once I see that behaviour in people in general, regardless of work environment. I feel that it is a major form of projection, and quite surprising coming from someone with her level of seniority.
  3. Also at the work Christmas party, which was on day two in the role. A woman, also fairly senior level, and in her 50s pulled me aside maybe four hours into the party when people were just hanging around. I am an introvert and fairly new, and it was a three room venue, so I was wandering from time to time, meeting everyone (office of 50 people). She said "hi, I saw you walking by yourself. Everyone, this is CSQUITO she was hanging by herself it's her second day". I said hi to everyone and chatted for a bit. She was then like "everyone is looking at you people over there were saying you look gorgeous" I said thanks (note I was dressed business casual in jeans, a nice top with long sleeves and covered). Then she was like "You can relax you don't have to be so formal". And at this point I was just uncomfortable. Then she introduces me to the head of a smaller team who is actually someone who has been at the company the longest (30 years!), and she says "This is Sam, you have to be really nice to her." I found the entire interaction odd and awkward but was polite, and soon after excused myself. After this since I've seen her over the past two months, she has noticeably avoided eye contact and doesn't really say hi.
  4. A boss from my team, 2/4, called Juno, (12 years my senior) on my fifth day showed that she was jealous of the company's head of PR (around the same age as her) who got a lot of expensive gifts from clients for Christmas. She said "I was supposed to have that job". She often complains about not being rich enough.
  5. At a client event, a guest who was a VIP was talking to Juno and approached me. He asked what my background was since he noticed I had not been at previous events, and that I was new. He said "wow from that school? what are you doing here?" and I said "I am most passionate about this industry, and I see most potential here". Juno said "I bet you think this job is so easy, and we're all making a fuss about nothing". I said "not at all". The client was talking about culture, and he asked something about mine. I said "I think the defining trait from my culture is the confidence. Like if they believe something they will say it and they're not timid or too consumed with what other people think. Also very direct. Maybe borderline cocky" Juno said, "yeah I see that". And the client said to her "No it's not cockiness. You have a regality. And it has nothing to do with money."
  6. Juno and Tom were talking about their nails. I said they were really nice and that maybe I should try to get mine done (I cut mine down never grown out or painted). Juno asked to see my nails and said "Ugh of course you have really nice nails" in a really spiteful way.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Okay now I will proceed to the parts that *were* related to my actual job and performance, leading up to today.
My immediate line manager, 3/4, called Tom, age 29, has been at the company four years. On my first few days, everyone on my team was really supportive and I made some suggestions/input that they said were really great. Juno, 2/4 was also supportive but made comments such as "you have a good brain, I don't have a brain", which I find uncomfortable because I think it's a sign of underlying competitiveness. I'm an assistant so I have no desire to compete with her, and I also don't plan to stay in the company for another twelve years - just to put into perspective her experience versus mine. So we're not remotely competition.
On my first day, Tom asked what I wanted to do like as a big picture in my career. I guess he might have already been aware of my two years of post-grad internship experience (which were all "known" or "big" industry names). I said "basically working in this role, this function is my dream role, and getting more experience along this trajectory, maybe eventually in-house". He was like "nice well just learn as much as you can here". Maybe on the fifth day, when everyone else had left the office for lunch, Tom out of the blue said: "So yeah no one really gets promoted for two years on this job. I've been saying to the bosses that that's quite a long time, because our goal is to get people to stay and build a relationship with the clients". Note he was technically the last person in this role three years ago, but it had a different title, and straddled different teams. I said "yes, I guess two years is longer than standard time before a promotion from entry level up, but it's also a small company and the sub-teams are small so in that regard it might make sense". Also he went on in this conversation to say "I moved on up quite quickly in this company" (he is two promotions above me and in four years I would say it is normal progress) and "I'm really good friends with a boss from the other team, I go to her house and stuff". So I was starting to get the impression that he was also insecure.
I noticed he had some micro-managing behaviours. For example to ask me to do something, he would say it verbally, put it in a 1:1 chat, put it in a group chat and also email, often in a short space of time. Sometimes he would verbally say something, then say it again if there was a group of people (not just to let them know). Naturally I felt that it could have been an indication to get it done faster, so I did just that. But he did this with everything and there is nothing I do without him telling me every single thing to do and say several times. It isn't only disruptive, but over time, there is no emphasis on what is a priority and what is not.
I made a few errors on a few occasions - nothing major, mostly from things I didn't know yet. Like which teams to CC on which emails. Often when I would ask I got the impression that he wanted things to go through him first before I would share on a team chat, or CC the rest of the team. Which makes sense, and was something I was already conscious of, since senior people definitely should not be bombarded. And for a few reasons I felt uncomfortable about it, but I went with it for a few weeks. I noticed, however, that when he checked over my work he would re-write emails, or text etc. sometimes with errors. And I didn't want to challenge his authority, especially over minor things, but these were things I noticed. Especially if I was tasked to do final proofreading for the team, that technically had been overseen by everyone, it's hard to know what to do when you still see some errors. Most of the time I just let it go, sometimes I raised it with him and framed it more as "which is your preference?". Occasionally I more vaguely asked the team in a group chat.
So I gather, the general order of working is that I create/do something, send to Tom to look over, send to Juno to look over, who sends to Karen (boss 1/4). Most of the time it comes back to me and then I execute it. As a side note, to anyone who is still reading: Is this normal? I draft most emails, and then send from a company email, but occasionally draft emails for Karen, 1/4, but do not send. I don't have a problem with it, but I will explain the relevance of it:
There were a few instances where Tom was supposed to look over something after me. In particular we are looking for errors on client data, and it takes more than one pair of eyes. As the first filter, I tend to get more than 80%, and then it goes to Tom who checks another facet and then to Juno. To make things extra clear, I link and label everything, which the other coworker who is also a junior does not. I do it because I quickly learned that some data points are revisited for later purposes in the process, and it cuts time in half by pulling it through, linking, and labelling it as a first step instead of as a 10th step. I also took additional steps - such as saving data into separate files, labelling each file. Previously, the team never did this, and I think Juno initially thought it was condescending, but at the end of the day, it took up less space in the group notes, was clearer to read, made all data aceessible and ultimately, since I would be the one working from the data the most it was necessary to my own role. In the joint inbox I started also tagging emails that had not been replied to from clients who were assigned to me. Still, any time an email came in, Tom would tell me (and it was not that I left emails unanswered for more than an hour or two at the absolute most).
There were instances of when Tom didn't notice small errors in his check, and there were still tiny errors when data had been through me, Tom, Juno, and Karen, and sent back to me. For example, Tom edits final PDFs to add commas to prices. e.g. £500,000 instead of £500000. Tom would then tell me to go back into the massive spreadsheet (which was step one, before all the team had gone through it) although the numbers had already been checked to be correct, because he didn't know where to put the commas. I think Tom would purposefully do this hoping I did not already have the data - trying to make me think I had got the actual figures wrong. The reality was the input was not formatted to add commas, but the actual figures are correct and had been checked by five people at this point. The job of adding commas was just to space the numbers. I explained this to him, and I said it was formatting not errors in the actual number. So all of the numbers can be formatted as £X,XXX,XXX if we choose. He initially said "Oh silly me", but then repeated the request when he found another file which had numbers with out commas. I asked him if he would like me to run through all files, so I could do them all in one go, since the formatting would be inconsistent across all files (each file is being sent to a different person so it is not a major "error" and it was the first time it was ever raised with me). He decided he wanted commas in all files.
This sort of behaviour repeated. The team set me a task of streamlining a contact database, which I did promptly and accurately so that we could start working from it. I also suggested that the team makes a sendout to a certain membership mailing list, since recipients kept replying saying that the contact was out of date, and promptly made the survey so it could be reviewed by him, then the rest of the team, and implemented. I don't believe that he has checked it or shared with the team at all. In the two weeks Tom had to check the survey, he kept flagging errors in the old contact database. I had told him already that all correct data was now in a new document, but he kept asking me to update the old document too and spotting "errors".
One of the last straws for me was earlier this week, when I was asked to draft seven emails. Four to be sent out by me from the company inbox to a mailing list. And three to another. In a call, Juno mentioned that all emails were good to go. The day of, I sent the three, and I asked tom if I should send the others. He said yes that's fine he had already seen them and that he did not need to look over it again. But I had a feeling I should check with the team. I asked the group chat of four of us and Tom replied no. Karen immediately explained: no, that I drafted the emails for her to send. This was never made clear until that moment, especially since in all three drafts I had signed off with the generic company signature, not "Karen" and Juno and Tom said they were good to go. Tom had confirmed just two minutes earlier. Not a problem, I was glad I checked, but I found it really strange.
One more: today when I had drafted emails to be sent out to a potential client who had made an error in documents submitted. The email was a brief request to amend the data on the document. Tom confirmed that all were good to go, then suggested that I add a blank template attachment to make things easier for them. This is a template document the client already had. I downloaded the document from our system - which, unknown to anyone, had a template format from three years ago attached. The link should have linked to the correct document. It was supposedly a coding error on our company website, and that doc should not have been accessible anywhere, let alone on that page. The client immediately replied to say that yes, the data would be updated but just to let us know, the file attached seemed different from the one they had. This was totally my error, and I was not aware of the differences between the files.
Tom put in the team chat that I needed to run things through him, and "trust that the team has experience and expertise" - as if I had purposefully attached the wrong document because I didn't want to run it by him.
So Juno set up my 2 month catch-up meeting today: Her first point was that I was "proactive in the wrong ways sometimes", for example that I had once offered to draft an email that had not been specifically assigned to me (I had asked about it because I had drafted every other email on the project). That I am an assistant and I don't yet have the experience to send off emails myself. Secondly I had been leaving work at 6:00 to 6:30pm, since the team of 5 typically had at least two people working until 6pm. My contracted hours are technically 17:30 but I tend not to leave until I know I can't help with anything else, since leaving on the dot feels awkward. Juno was implying that I thought I was as senior as them, and that is why I was staying later.
Her second point was that I joined video work-from-home meetings late. I think this is a valid feedback point. I was aware that a few times I was about 1 minute late. This is because scheduled meetings run anywhere from five minutes to hours behind schedule, and she explained, the company culture is that whenever the most senior person starts the meeting, that is when everyone else hops on. And often the most senior person is running from one meeting to the next. More than a few times, I needed to re-adjust/go to the loo in the waiting period hence I was a bit late, but never more than a minute.
Her third point was that I need to make a spreadsheet for myself and enable access to her and Tom and make a note of every single thing I do in it for every single initiative as reminders for everything. Again, I tried to politely ask what it related to, and she said there are times where they assume I remembered something but I asked about it later. Here I got the impression that Tom had relayed to her that he *had* to remind me to do things. However, there were no concrete examples.
Her fourth point was that I was fast, but I made small errors - like not CCing Karen, which made Karen ask Juno and Tom if emails had been sent out, or attaching the wrong document. I typically would not CC people unless I was told - seeing as Tom tends to give directions for single thing (multiple times. That I should always send drafts to them as emails first to them including attachments and note of CC. This contradicts what they ask for most of the time, which is for me to send things off directly.
She asked if I had any questions: I mentioned that from time to time it is difficult to distinguish before a piece of feedback, a request, and a priority. I did not specifically say that it was about her or Tom, but between their micromanaging, it is hard to tell where certain requests are coming from, urgency, and whether there is a specific reason they are saying something. I am never late with anything, and mostly go above and beyond with the task, making sure my contributions to shared documents facilitates the whole team, not just me. I noticed that the other assistant doesn't do this at all.
When I asked her if generally, I was in the right direction or up to speed, she said "you couldn't possibly be up to speed, and that I was an assistant, and I can't be up to speed in three months, but if I need to learn something it is that I "need to talk to Karen and Tom, how she talks to Karen, and how Tom talks to her", possibly implying that I should run everything through Tom. She didn't mention "how I talked to her" there, which again made me feel that it was primarily based on something Tom had said. I was sort of listening waiting for her to give examples, and she said I should "read the room, sort of".
I had noticed that In this feedback session there were no positive comments at all. And a lot of what she said lacked specific examples. I didn't argue with anything but later in the evening, I sent an email to thank her for her time, and also requesting to run through some of the points she had raised because I just wanted to be extra clear on them. The two points were - the spreadsheet request where she and Tom would track every single thing I do - she did not give any examples of me failing to complete a task because I forgot it, or forgetting a task - but instead it was me asking about certain tasks that were actually the responsibilities of other people. The second point I want to raise is about her point on "how I talk to people". I am usually very polite, but also direct. I'm not afraid to raise questions, and most of my suggestions (which I pitched at appropriate times) were implemented.
HELP. Do I just quit?

2023.02.03 02:13 CSQUITO Hi Mom. I urgently need to talk to an experienced adult about red flags that I think I see at work.

Naturally I felt that it could have been an indication to get it done faster, so I did just that. But he did this with everything and there is nothing I do without him telling me every single thing to do and say several times. It isn't only disruptive, but over time, there is no emphasis on what is a priority and what is not.

2023.02.03 02:12 NCMN Migrating all Data from an HDD with sector errors?

Hey all, so a week-ish ago I realized I finally needed to replace my PC's current main HDD with something else (I've been ignoring uncorrectable errors for a little too long), I have several external HDD's and bought a new SDD to replace the internal drive. - My problem is that due to the HDD sector errors it's making moving my data over seemingly impossible. Here's what I've tried in order: 1: Made a windows backup image & Recovery Media - Got an error when trying to re-image 2: Use Macrium to make a system image - Error while trying to make the image 3: Use Macrium to clone drive - Error while cloning at 93% completion 4: Realize at this point that I won't be able to clone/image my drive because of the sector errors (Should have been obvious) so I download Acronis and try to backup everything to my HDD so I can just do a fresh windows install on the new drive. Acronis hung up on calculating storage space for several hours
So I'm an embarrassing amount of time into this job and really not sure of what to do next. Is there any good actually free backup program out there that you folks can recommend? At this point it almost seems like it would be easier to comb through my files for hours on end dragging and dropping, please help Reddit

2023.02.03 02:09 InidarReddit Pokemon SV+ is BACK and better than ever. Includes QOL changes, trainer overhaul, new post game, catchable home exclusives, restored Pokedex and much more! Screenshots inside

Pokémon SV+ is back!

And better than ever.
Due to difficulties with our old host, we have now moved to Nexus Mods. And after weeks of crunch time, we are finally ready for re-release!!

Pokémon SV+ is the first Pokemon Scarlet & Violet rom hack and aims to provide a Vanilla+ experience, with QOL changes, trainer overhaul, new post game, and much more. With this mod, you will be able to catch every single Pokemon in the Paldean Pokedex and all variations for the first time!

Works with both 1.0.1 and 1.1.0, on your Nintendo Switch console or on emulator, and can be added halfway through playing or for a brand new playthrough.

Click here to Download Pokemon SV+

Title screen and thumbnails were created with art by baku-inu and used with permission -- to see more, check them out on pixiv.
End credits song created by Zebra And The Bandit -- to see more, check out their Youtube channel

Note 1: Only connect to other Pokemon SV+ or Pokemon Compass players while you are using this mod. Do not use otherwise unobtainable items or Pokemon from SV+ online in any way or you may be banned.
Note 2: Save frequently and keep backup saves. This mod was thoroughly tested, but we are a small team and the base game is already notorious for crashing.
Note 3: Pokémon SV+ DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ACTUAL GAME. You will still need to buy your own copy.

Features

1. Post Game+

All 5 star raids have been replaced with 50+ currently unobtainable Legendary/Mythical Pokémon as well as opposite version Paradox Pokémon
This large scale mod will be the base of Pokemon SV+ and aims to recreate the feel of Hoopa portals from OAS and increase playability post-game.

Legendaries will battle you at level 85, but will be level 70 when caught. They will be tough, so don't show up underprepared.
Each Legendary will be holding its special item (such as Griseous Core for Giratina) when applicable.

2. Trainer Overhaul

All trainers and static event Pokemon have had their levels increased by 40%. This change is meant to make the game more challenging while keeping the original difficulty curve and progression order intact

3. Alternate Evolutions

Adds alternate method for trade evolutions, Hisuian Pokémon, and Espeon/Umbreon/Sylveon. Also allows Spewpas to evolve into any patterned Vivillon, and adds new evolution items for purchase at Delibird Presents.

This section was created in collaboration with Aria Seri & Kas Seri and is designed to allow players to link to their upcoming rom hack called Pokémon Spectrum, so make sure to check that out too when it's released!

Notes: Evolution Stones require a minimum of 3 Victory Road Gym badges to purchase. Auspicious Armor, Malicious Armor, Galarica Cuff, Galarica Wreath, and Strange Mirror require a minimum of 4 Victory Road Gym badges to purchase.

4. Expanded Wild Pokemon OR No Version Exclusives

Re-adds all wild Pokémon that normally spawn exclusively in one version.
Also adds 50+ HOME transferrable Pokémon to the wild, including regional forms and the various starters.

This section was created in collaboration with Aria Seri & Kas Seri and is designed to allow players to link to their upcoming rom hack called Pokémon Spectrum, so make sure to check that out too when it's released!
To see all changes made, please see description on Nexus Mods

Warning: This part of the mod creates many illegal Pokemon that should not be used online. To remove it and only allow Paldean exclusive Pokemon to spawn, download alternate_pokedata_array.zip and paste its contents into the world folder of SV+.
This will replace the original SV+ pokedata_array.bin located at the world\data\encount\pokedata\pokedata with the alternate, and can be done at any time -- either before or after combining mods with Trinity.

6. Pokedex Restoration

Restores the Pokedex and all Pokedex entries for previously home-exclusive Pokemon.

7. Better Map Markers

Adds markers, borders and level ranges to the in game map. Also adds level Ranges for each area, and makes area names stay visible while zoomed in.

SV+ Patches

Since Pokemon SV+ is meant to be a Vanilla+ mod, many changes that could be fun to add don't fit into the main download. SV+ patches fix this problem by extending the mod in many -- sometimes radically -- different ways.
Want your own mod listed here? Contact me on Discord and I will share the files you'll need to make it compatible with SV+

1. Instant Eggs

Makes eggs spawn instantly while picknicking. To use, download the Trinity Version of Instant Eggs During Picnic then drop the ZIP contents into the SV+ romfs.
Download Link (Instant Eggs)

2. Faster Player Speed

This patch increases player speed beyond what is included in this mod. To use, download any Trinity version of Run Speed and Slope Tolerance then drop the ZIP contents into the SV+ romfs.
Download Link (Faster Player Speed)

3. Stronger Eeveelutions

Created by Likara, Stronger Eevelutions vastly increases the stats of Eevee and all its evolutions.
Eevee itself has a BST of 570, while its evolutions have a BST of 670! This puts them at the same BST as Legends. This also makes Eevee itself viable to use without evolving. Each one, including Eevee, has also gained an extra move at level 60, in line with its typing. To see all changes made, see their mod description
Note: Must be combined with SV+ using Trinity Mod Loader -- make sure you use the version listed as compatible with SV+!
Download Link (Stronger Eeveelutions)

4. Shiny Wild Pokemon Indicator

Adds glowing eyes to all shiny Pokemon that can be seen from afar so you never miss another shiny during a hunt.
Especially useful for shiny Pokemon with only subtle changes like Pikachu. This change will be active as long as you have the mod installed, even for Pokemon in your party. So unless you love the laser-eyes look, you will have to uninstall/reinstall this mod in between shiny hunts.
Note: Must be combined with SV+ using Trinity Mod Loader (tutorial link in Installation Instructions)

2023.02.03 02:07 CSQUITO Urgent advice: I booked a 1:1 meeting tomorrow with a boss about recent feedback because of possible red flags. Should I quit?

1) On day one, There was a clear division of the company from the "main team" of 9, and they were openly bitching about the other team. At one point in a group chat including members from the other team, someone had made an error, and my team were saying "what the fuck is wrong with them".
2) My second day of the job was the work Christmas party, and I was sat next to the head of the team, Sylvia who is 25+ years in the business.
3) Also at the work Christmas party, which was on day two in the role.
4) A boss from my team, 2/4, called Juno, (12 years my senior) on my fifth day showed that she was jealous of the company's head of PR (around the same age as her) who got a lot of expensive gifts from clients for Christmas. She said "I was supposed to have that job". She often complains about not being rich enough.
5) At a client event, a guest who was a VIP was talking to Juno and approached me.
6) Juno and Tom were talking about their nails.

Hi folks!
Attached is the RFP and styleguide for an up-and-coming tech company (think satellites but sky's the limit).
This is a dream client. Jobs like these don't come around often but when they do we need to knock it out of the park. Simple ask—2D, infographic style for a short internal presentation with the potential for it to go external if approved. They have huge social presence as well and could boost BW there—in addition to a budget that finally makes sense in this day and age.
Let's go forth and rock this!

Thanks for this Jayson!
Quick question- The style guide has a lot of info re: iconography we typically don't see in one of these: skulls, nuclear symbols, nuclear clouds, cities in nuclear explosion etc. etc. Are we sure this is just satellites?

Dana! This is DOPE!
Seriously sick. I just have a few thoughts:
- Can missiles be scarier?
- Possible to keep final frame of flaming cities on loop? May need to vamp during this portion and keep prezzy goin.
- Can you add some more 'Exceletor' feel onto the transitions? We want people to associate us with technology and advancements and transitions feel current day and not next-gen.
Seriously tight.

Public Regulation and Private Insurance: How Blackberry is poised to take advantage of changing market dynamics
As most of us know, Blackberry operates in two highly growing market segments: IOT and Cybersecurity. But something that doesn’t get discussed much is how public regulation and private insurance requirements are creating market changing dynamics in these industries. Blackberry’s products are well positioned to take advantage of a changing public regulation and private insurance requirements.
Personally, my original interest in Blackberry as an investment opportunity started once I realized that the regulatory environment was going to change in 2021 and those changes would eventually alter the market dynamics of both the cybersecurity and IOT industries. The Biden Cybersecurity EO was the first hint of that change for me.
I found it encouraging that Blackberry viewed their business in a similar light:
One of the unique opportunities about this company, in my view, is that trust is such an important component of the business model. I won’t get into how trust plays a role in my evaluation of the company here, but I will say that I think it is the key to understanding the company and managing your investment expectation.
Anyway, let’s get into some of the regulatory dynamics that are ongoing.
Example 1: Automotive Safety Standards and Enforcement Actions: A Classic Example of Market Failure and New Potential Requirements that Create Opportunity Blackberry
One of the classic examples of market failures of the 20th century involved Automobile Safety Standards. Books like “Unsafe at Any Speed” by Consumer Advocate and One-time Presidential Candidate and Bush v. Gore spoiler, Ralph Nader highlighted the “designed in dangers” of automobiles in the United States. The book was so successful that it led to the creation of the Department of Transportation and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. These agencies were instrumental in developing safety standards for automobiles that saved many thousands of lives over the years (source: Google it). It wasn’t that long ago that fewer than 20% of automobile occupants wore seatbelts and there weren’t mandates to enforce seatbelt usage.
Today, a technological revolution is underway in the automobile industry. The Software Defined Vehicle is bringing computer vision, computation, advanced driver assistance, artificial intelligence, and other risks to the "intelligent edge". With these changes in the vehicle, there’s a huge opportunity to decrease safety with poor design or increase it with good design. As Volvo's CEO Jim Rowan said recently "digital software is a digital seatbelt" for a new era.
These days, instead of looking at seatbelts and airbags for these new vehicles, the NHTSA and Department of Transportation are highly concerned with cybersecurity and reliability at the edge (aka in the car). Speaking at the AUTO-ISAC Cybersecurity Summit, Ann Carlson (the current Acting Administrator of the NHTSA and the general counsel at the time of her keynote address) had this to say:
“It seems clear that a secure future is a safer future. Ensuring the public’s trust in vehicle technologies is paramount to their adoption. As automation and innovation progress, the industry must stand ready to combat any cyber threats that could endanger the public. It only takes one attack to shatter confidence, trust, and safety.
NHTSA stands ready to help you in your quest to strengthen vehicle cybersecurity. I am pleased to share that today we published our updated Cybersecurity Best Practices for the Safety of Motor Vehicles.
The two standards that impact Blackberry most clearly are ISO26262 for foundational safety in automobiles and ISO21434 for cybersecurity. Blackberry currently touts their ISO26262 ASIL-D functional safety certifications that provide a huge advantage over its competitors. But ISO21434 addresses cybersecurity in the vehicle and is also critically important. Blackberry addresses both of these standards and it’s why they work with 24 of the 25 EV OEMs.
Notably, the only OEM that doesn’t work with Blackberry is Tesla. Tesla's vehicles are not ISO26262 certified. As you may or may not know, Tesla (the only QNX holdout) is currently under investigation by the NHTSA and the DOJ (not to mention the SEC). Ann Carlson, our friendly Acting Administrator of the NHTSA, recently gave a public statement regarding NHTSA’s investigation into Tesla:
“We're investing a lot of resources," said NHTSA acting head Ann Carlson in comments to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Washington. She declined to commit to a particular timeframe on when the probe will be resolved. "The resources require a lot of technical expertise, actually some legal novelty and so we're moving as quickly as we can, but we also want to be careful and make sure we have all the information we need." - Source: Reuters
Is it possible Tesla might be pushed into adopting safety standards that they don’t currently employ? According to page 9 of their latest 10-K, it’s certainly a possibility.
“Certain Investigations and Other Matters
We receive requests for information from regulators and governmental authorities, such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, the SEC, the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) and various state, federal, and international agencies. We routinely cooperate with such regulatory and governmental requests, including subpoenas, formal and informal requests and other investigations and inquiries….the company has received requests from the DOJ for documents related to Tesla’s Autopilot and FSD features. To our knowledge no government agency in any ongoing investigation has concluded that any wrongdoing occurred. We cannot predict the outcome or impact of any ongoing matters. Should the government decide to pursue an enforcement action, there exists the possibility of a material adverse impact on our business, results of operation, prospects, cash flows and financial position.” - source: Tesla 10-K
If an enforcement action were to occur against Tesla related to their full-self driving and Autopilot, how would they respond? According to John Wall, COO of QNX, Blackberry could help them out which would make Blackberry a provider of safety software for 25 of 25 EV manufacturers. Additionally, if Blackberry is able to capture Tesla as a customer due to regulatory enforcement by the DOJ or NHTSA, then it will be the dominant market player with strict barriers to entry creating a substantial and durable competitive moat.
There is no known timeline for DOJ or NHTSA enforcement or implementation of new Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Most EV OEMs are already complying voluntarily with ISO26262.

Example 2 - Medical Software Bills of Materials - SBOM Requirement Starts in less than 90 days
Cybersecurity is paramount for connected medical devices. An overview of the concerns about medical device cybersecurity can be found in this FDA video on medical device cybersecurity concerns and this video on Cybersecurity Awareness for Medical Devices.
The FDA’s Justification of Estimates for Appropriations Committees highlights the national security need for cybersecurity in medical devices and the lack of SBOM requirements for medical devices. Section 3505 of the Congressional Appropriations bill mandated that medical device manufacturers submit software bills of materials to the FDA to ensure cybersecurity of these devices. This mandate goes into effect at the end of March 2023 and represents an opportunity for Blackberry's Jarvis product.
That said, might the next frontier for mandatory SBOMs might be in the Automotive Industry? It’s a good bet. Blackberry partner Visteon (and Qualcomm partner) is using Blackberry Jarvis for their digital cockpit technology.
Here’s some BB Jarvis background: Blackberry Jarvis - SBOM (Blackberry Jarvis Video).
Timeline for Medical Device SBOM Mandate: March 2023.
Example 3 - Market Failures in the Cyber Insurance Industry: Cyberattacks, Ransomware, and Blackberry’s Ongoing Awareness Campaign and Insurance Partnerships
In my opinion, one of the most interesting dynamics at play related to Blackberry’s product portfolio right now is the state of the Cybersecurity insurance market and how Blackberry might be involved going forward. Since August 2022, Blackberry and Corvus Insurance, a startup InsureTech company, have been working together on a number of studies and research focused on the market failure occurring across all industries hoping to purchase cyber insurance coverage.
In this Blog Post from August 10, 2022 called “The Cyber Insurance Gap: What is it, and how can we close it? Blackberry and Corvus Insurance highlight the problem (market failure) of underinsurance in the SMB market. Only 55% of survey respondents had cyber insurance and only 20% had $600,000 worth of insurance coverage (the median cost of a cybersecurity incident). The post goes on to illustrate the business risks of not carrying this insurance and how it ultimately impacts the bottom line. Corvus and Blackberry have gone on to partner on several other live videos, reports, and blog posts.
Corvus and Blackberry are driving home through their insurance research press releases that small to medium sized businesses don’t have the resources necessary to gain comprehensive cyber insurance coverage and it’s driving up costs and lowering coverage availability to customers. Although Corvus and Blackberry haven’t formally announced a partnership, the tailwinds in the insurance industry are such that we should start to see stronger growth in Blackberry’s Cybersecurity products, potentially larger than the 10% that Blackberry offered to it’s investors at the investor day earlier this year.
A rosy(ish) outlook on the Cybersecurity Business
In previous earnings calls, John Chen has stated that he believes Cybersecurity will return to profitability at the start of FY24 (in the Q3 earnings call he pushed that back 6 months to 2H FY24). Why might he feel that Blackberry’s cybersecurity products are positioned well to compete next fiscal year?
In my view, the rosy-ish outlook has something to do with upcoming change in the Cyber Insurance Industry. As has been well-reported here, here, here, and here. What these articles boil down to is that starting in March 2023 (next month), Cyber insurance companies will no longer be covering nation-state backed cyber attacks.
But private insurance companies that are partnering (in some way) with cybersecurity vendors are coming in to fill the gap. Companies like Corvus Insurance, Coalition Insurance, At-Bay Insurance are all well-financed start-up companies that are filling in the cyber insurance gaps with a risk-based approach to cybersecurity. Companies like SafeBreach (Blackberry Partner and 2022 Security Summit presenter) offer tools to assess the security posture of organizations using automated technologies.
A couple of intriguing facts
Intriguingly, Corvus Insurance (Blackberry’s partner in crime on these research reports) is strongly connected to a group of Prem Watsa/Fairfax Financial owned insurance companies including: Axis, Hudson Insurance Group, and Crum Forster. Both Corvus and Coalition are connected to Lloyds.
Since Nation-State Cyberattacks won’t be covered any longer, it’s a good bet that Blackberry’s product portfolio which includes government and financial services clients (two group that are in most need of the best cybersecurity products) will compete well for new customers. Partnerships between Blackberry and these insurance companies would be good news for Blackberry.
Just this last week, BB Cybersecurity CTO Shisir Singh joined a podcast to discuss cyber risk and accountability.
Timeline to Changes in the Insurance Market: March 2023
Bonus Example: Ivy and Insurance: The next frontier?
How might this connect to Blackberry’s automotive business? Well, we know that both State Farm (linkedin posts one and two) and Geico are Blackberry IVY Partners. We also know that Automobiles are at risk for cyberattacks (see: DEFCON - Hacking into Automotive Clouds, DEFCON - Hacking the Tesla Model S, DEFCON - Breaking into a JEEP, Remote Exploitation of a Vehicle , Ed Markey Senate Office Report). We also know that insurance companies are stopping automobile insurance coverage because of vehicle security issues.
Thankfully, Blackberry has a head start because it offers a product (Cylance AI) that they’ve demonstrated in vehicles running QNX as early as CES 2020 and have had three years to perfect. Which reminds me that we haven’t heard much about their budding Cylance AI OEM Partner business. I wrote about the Cylance AI business a while back.
Timeline: None. But don’t be surprised if fleet customers start pre-loading Cylance AI products via Blackberry IVY.
Example 4 - From Cell Phones to App Stores: a New Era of Antitrust Enforcement?
As we all know now from personal experience or this CNBC documentary What happened to Blackberry? or this Business Insider video on The Rise and Fall of Blackberry, Blackberry fell behind after Apple unveiled the iPhone and its walled-garden app store which catapulted the iPhone with its superior set of apps that Blackberry wasn’t able to access. The app ecosystem proved too much for Blackberry to overcome and the market was left with just two dominant players: Apple and Google, a classic duopoly market structure. Indeed, the Verge reported that Google and Apple control 99.6% of the iPhone market in 2017 and that number hasn’t changed much according to this January 2023 data from StatsCounter.
Today, both Apple and Google are facing major civil antitrust litigation. Apple is battling Epic games in Antitrust court. As of November, the trial was still underway and the US Department of Justice, the State of California, and a number of other states were participating in the trial to present their arguments for the proper legal framework of how to evaluate the Antitrust complaints brought forth in the suit. There’s also reporting that the Department of Justice is in the initial phases of bringing a separate lawsuit against Apple.
In a separate lawsuit brought against Google, the US DOJ Antitrust division is currently taking on Google’s AdTech business which shows that the administration is serious about taking these lawsuits forward. That said, these agencies often have major budget constraints and may not be able to finance every antitrust suit they see merit in bringing forward.
How Blackberry Fits in
This week, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) published a report “Competition in the Mobile Application Ecosystem” recommending Antitrust enforcement over app stores more broadly. The report recommends a number of changes in the mobile application ecosystem including “encourage tools and standards to increase operability and reduce developer costs” and addresses security deficiencies within the Google and Apple app stores.
Although Blackberry doesn’t make phones any longer, they still operate a modest app store marketplace that you can see on their website. From a cursory look at the Blackberry enterprise marketplace, it’s clear that they can’t compete. Most of the apps are for enterprise (understandable considering Blackberry is a B2B company). But it begs the question: with antitrust enforcement, could Blackberry launch a competitive enterprise app store focused on app security? At last October’s Blackberry 2022 Security Summit, there were several enterprise marketplace app developers who presented including Blue Cedar which offers a tool to create Blackberry secured versions of apps with a no-code tool.
Timeline: no timeline but meaningful antitrust enforcement could enable Blackberry to offer a secure enterprise applicatino marketplace differentiated based on their security differentiation.
These are just a few examples of regulatory changes that are playing out favorably to Blackberry. There are certainly other examples as well.
TL;DR - Blackberry operates in highly regulated industries and proposed regulations and enforcement actions will only push Blackberry’s products to greater and more widespread adoption over time. Some might take years to develop (e.g. Antitrust actions) others (e.g. Private insurance changes, Medical SBOM requirements) will likely start changing market dynamics as early as March 2023.
