2023.02.03 05:42 TriforceJaycePepega As a DPS/Ball main I tried playing Support in comp this season to understand Support mains better and ended up gaining valuable insights 😊

Context: I am your typical DPS/Ball player that support mains hate, and I started playing the game when OW2 came out. I wanted to play support more this season because I want to understand the game from a different perspective, and want to know why these people hate me so much. After playing a lot of support games this season and climbed to the highest rank I've ever climbed to in this game (Plat) as a support, I believe now I can call myself a support main and share with you fellas what I learned along the way, if you would allow me to:
Idk how to end this essay. Go fight me in comments I guess I'll see you all there.

2023.02.03 05:41 Leox3920 I've had two 8 month FT jobs in a row. What should I do?

Hey everyone.
I'm a SWE that's early in my career (~1.7 YOE) and my experience in the industry has been trash. My specialty is Front End development and I don't have a CS/CE degree (not yet).
But that's enough on me, I'll get straight to it. My 1st junior job was complete shit in terms of development/actual coding. The majority of my tasks there was documentation and testing, and some code. I bothered them for code oriented tasks, but it never came. They got acquired during my 8th month there and they laid off some folks. Of course I was among the first to go.
My 2nd junior job was a lot better in terms of actual code, and it used my stack (React, Redux). My team leads liked me and I was constantly outputting good code, that didn't matter because my manager fired me last month (8 month mark). His reason why was bullshit but explaining it would make this post a page long.
Now I have two 8-month full-time jobs on my resume, and I'm kind of panicking because I don't want to get into a third bad company and look incompetent over short tenures who.
I got a couple of questions:
Keep in mind, all I want is a job where I can code and stay at for at-least 2 years.

2023.02.03 05:40 Cindyclawsbee Going to listen to TMV (the record) for the third time, since right after it launched. Song for song diary.

Just an fyi, I typically don't really give a fuck about lyrics until I do and even then still focus more on just the music. Mind you, I know what the subject matter is about and I understand the beauty of some of the songs.
Also, I am listening to this straight through and keeping a running diary as I listen to it. Not that anyone asked or gives a fuck lol.
Blacklight Shine - The song that I thought was going to lead to a new direction for the band in general. And let me tell you, I was fucking so on board with this sound going forward. It's still such an amazing song. It does have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth from the initial hope. The video version is so cool too, I love the fucking beats and the beach. I can do that all day.
Graveyard Love - OK, so we're just doing whatever we want now huh? The drumming is just so good on this song. This feels like a clean version less original Volta sound of a sub-song found on scabdates or something. Vibing, and working towards the beginning of the next banger.
Shore Story - I can't lie I already don't like it. Ok, 1:30 is what I want hear. I love Cedric's voice but I am legit bored. That little drum part was cool.
Blank Condolences - I love how Cedric writes his lyrics within the music. But this just feels like half of TMV. I need more sound. Speak of the devil, Omar doing some stuff, forgot about this. I need a funkier bass too here or something.
Vigil - Already listened to this a bunch before the album came out. I literally thought to myself that if the album sounded more like this than the other three then I think I am not going to have a good time. Called it... but I will say I like this album so far more than I remembered. This just feels like sad not weird Bosnian Rainbows dialed down even more.
Que Dios Maldiga Mi Corazon - YASSSSSSSSS, obviously if you have been reading along I am loving this. Bro, this is a fucking banger! Still want more from Cedric or some sort of biting sound there. Ok this guitar part is so great and subtle. Oh yeah FUCK. This song is a minute forty bro................
Cerulea - This is a song so far. OK well I have nothing else to focus on but the fucking lyrics and they are very nice. This is a nice song. My wife is ill and has been for a while, maybe a subliminal reason I did not favor this album lol.
Flash Burns From The Flashbacks - This is a good song so far. Good drumming all across this album for sure. I have good headphones and a pre-amp and I just can't feel the bass, idk man. I'm no audiophile or professional musician but whatever.
Palm Full Of Crux - Can only focus on the lyrics. Just not what I want to do here man. I still love how Cedric sounds. And it's a very nice thing this record has done. Song made me think if my wife, way back in the day, always with me and toughing it out to be close to first in line to their shows in the freezing cold every time they came to town and it made me tear up. Everybody on? Good great, GRAND, WONDERFUL!
No Case Gain - I don't like the beat at all lol. The beginning feels like that musical TV show that takes the band in some stupid direction. And then the next section starts and it sounds like they did it again but better lol. This song sounds like a Ween song or something. So, I guess I objectively like it but not as TMV lmao.
Tourmaline - I feel hints of past TMV songs in this one. Too bad Jon is playing on carpet drums and Omar is passed out. Didn't look at the lyrics this time. Meh.
Equus 3 - That last song was good enough where I skipped ahead to write that I think I remember liking this one? Oh shit yeah I like the groove. It seems like it's building to something cool here. Cedric comes in cool. His style and voice so cool here, as normal. Different voice shit finally. Underwhelming payoff but it's still a good song so far. Not going to lie looking forward to chorus again. The drop is good. Oh shit Omar is alive. Weird Omar guitar detected. Me likey.
Collapsible Shoulders - Man, Cerulea through Palm Full Of Crux was fucking rough to get by. I swear this was going to be fucking Vigil again. Oh shit that's right, this whole melody he does is really fucking cool. The rest of the music just supports it. So, I guess I didn't really like all the other times this album does that hahahahaha. Yeah, this melody is cool as fuck.
The Requisition - Literally feel like I've never heard this. Ok start. Ok Ok OK I like the drumming and guitar here finally. Yeah, this is good. I like the aggressiveness here. He sounds vengeful. Wow, for a song I have definitely listened to twice I forgot this existed noooooooooo it ended? I swear I was typing this as it ended I am not memeing.
Conclusion - Better than I remembered. I honestly listened to it all just on a whim since I was feeling good and wanted to give it another go. Not going to lie, I think there's only a few songs on here that will pop in my head and make me want to listen again. I'm glad they're back and I'm glad for everyone who loves this record. It's not for me, but this listen was better than the first two that's for sure. I listened to it on back to back nights when it came out. All that build up and wait as a long time fan really fucking kneecapped it.

2023.02.03 05:40 RenegenX question about report cards and optional courses

As stated in the title, i have questions about the report card part of strixhaven memories, it seems that the report card is only for the required course for each year, and if so what interaction do the optional classes have with the students.
if i missed somthing in the book it would be appreciated if you could point out what im missing with the page nummber.
i know i could homebrew my own rules but if there are existing rules, that would be easier, thanks.

2023.02.03 05:40 Varzsy Rapid thoughts that are constantly replaced by another

29F, diagnosed couple years ago, tried all the possible medications and found the right one. most of my issues are mostly resolved.
But there one thing that plagues my existence everyday.
Thinking about doing something, and when starting whatever you wanted to do you immediately find yourself absolved in your thoughts thinking about doing something else
For example: I would remember that I have to check if the noodles I'm cooking are ready or not, I would go to the kitchen to check, but when I arrive at the kitchen I'm already thinking about doing something else and forget that I had to check on the noodles.
I used to write every thought I had on a small notebook, that kinda worked but it was really annoying.
Are there any phone apps that would help?

2023.02.03 05:40 ZetaMarlfox I (28M) just broke up with my girlfriend (28F) because of her kid and his behavior

We'd been going out since September of 2021, and things started out great, even with her kid. She had returned home to the USA from Germany after having been there for four or so years. We were in an open relationship and had acknowledged that I didn't want kids of my own; I wasn't there acting as a father figure or anything and was more of just a "friend" to the child, at best. All was well for a while, but ever since September of last year the cracks started showing.
Her child is high-functioning autistic (sometimes I doubt it, but that's not the point), and for the last several months he had really drove a wedge between us and the interactions we were having. January was the climax and today was when I ultimately put my foot down in that I couldn't be a party to it anymore. He got suspended from school for "violent behavior" in the last week of January so that really sent up a red flag on my end, and couple this with the fact that he has an unhealthy obsession with firearms that ESPECIALLY disturbed me. Whenever he was over at my apartment he was always begging me to let him hold my SKS rifle (which I recently sold in part because I needed the money, but also because I didn't want him around something like that) and/or my old airsoft guns that were in the closet. Naturally when you put the fact of his suspension and his gun interest at age 12 together, you can see a cause for concern.
Yesterday I learned he had also gotten detention immediately upon returning to school because he never does his homework or schoolwork, and doesn't turn it in if he does. I blame this in part to his unbelievable laziness. No chores done, he literally just sits on his XBox all day when he's not in school babbling his gamerspeak while there's dirty dishes, full garbage bins, and laundry all over the place. It's disgusting. I feel like she's partially guilty of this too with how she's part-time and has time to do this stuff, but that's a more minor part of my reasons to sever relations.
It got to the point that we couldn't even watch a movie or sit on the couch without him getting up in our personal space or spazzing out.
Secondary reasons would be that she's been fruitlessly spinning the tires at her job "waiting" to take the test for pharmacy tech certification, which she was supposed to take in November. She claimed that her employer said "they have no record of her application to take the test". And that was the end of it, she literally has not brought up again when she's taking it, and honestly part of me thinks she's content not to because she's making about what she would in part-time and child support from her ex that she would be making in full-time if she got certified. This part is all speculation and maybe she really hasn't been able to get full-time and certified for reasons other than that, but it's just what I have come to suspect.
Today I finally said enough is enough and pulled the plug on the relationship.
I'm most distraught at what it's going to do to her, and not to me. She always put me first in this relationship and seldom thought of herself. I was pretty much the only thing she had here besides her sister, son, and relatives (her mother is deceased and her father is absent from her life), and knowing how important I was to her, abruptly cutting this off has me internally feeling guilty and like I'm the one at fault.
This is the longest relationship I've had and the first in which I have been the one to initiate the breakup. Maybe it's an alien feeling to me, but I didn't want to do this because I do genuinely care about her and all she did for me. Am I a bad person for having done this? And if not, how am I supposed to feel better about myself?
TLDR: I broke up with my girlfriend because of her child constantly inhibiting our relationship and I feel like the bad guy even though I can't condone his behavior. She needs to focus on herself and her kid.

2023.02.03 05:39 QueenAfyn Carpet mod, does it do anything without config

So as title suggests I'm trying to run a vanilla feeling server with as many vanilla features as possible. I've been looking at using carpet mod to change some things but I'm worried that simply installing it will change the game in some way without config. If I install carpet mod and then don't change any of the config files or any of the settings will it do anything or will it wait until i turn features on before changing anything?

2023.02.03 05:39 TangoBolshevik How can chatgpt 'take our jobs' if its existence is predicated on plagiarism of our work and gaining access to confidential information?

I'm making an assumption here... that is that "AI" cannot learn without digesting copyrighted information.
Not to mention, a vast amount of the information that these programs will need is confidential and privileged...It therefore won't have the benefit of most of the information available to the profession without a serious amount of work and legal hurdles being overcome.
Am I missing something? I see some big problems with the entire model.
All one needs to do to get an injunction is to show the bot accessed an article on a webpage (which is how it gets the information) and you've got a prima facie copyright infringement case...

Tier0.dll causing issues in csgo
When loading into a map, the loading bar gets almost to the end, my audio kinda bugs out and everything sounds kind of crackly, then the game crashes. Event viewer shows tier0.dll to be this issue.
So far i've tried: -Uninstalling reinstalling -deleting tier0.dll and verifying game files (only works like... 40% of the time when starting the game again)
-changing launch settings (-novid -debug -nojoy)
-disabling controller support through big picture mode
-excluding .dll files from windows defender scans in virus & threat protection settings (also excluding the csgo folder, csgo.exe, & the bin folder that contains tier0.dll) -a sea of other smaller things, ill stay up to date with suggestions.
I have an xbox one controller + a wireless adapter plugged in, steelseries headset, MSI rtx 2070 super, amd ryzen 7 2700x, idk if any of this plays a role but just extra info. I have almost 4000 hours and this issue didnt start until sometime around november of 2022.
If anyone has a permanent a solution to this, i'll give you a big ol kiss on the noggin.
Error as shown in event viewer
Thanks yall <3

2023.02.03 05:38 Choice_Complete Why isn't this tek popular? (Ethanol, vinegar and sodium carbonate)

Hello, all.

I have been looking for my first tek to try out. I have been reading for hours and from what I can gather, most people recommend just doing the classic teks that use naphtha/hexane/heptane/etc with lye. I understand this gives better yields, it is more tested and in the end the product should be mostly pure, so there is not much concern for toxicity.

However, I found this tek: https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=30501, which talks about using edible ethanol, vinegar (although some posts further down recommend to not use vinegar) and sodium carbonate. In my case, I can very easily get edible 96% ethanol and baking soda, as in just getting them in stores in my city for cheap (about $6 for 1 L ethanol), whereas sourcing lye and heptane would cost me around $25 total for both. This tek seems pretty straightforward, eco-friendly and uses edible ethanol which sounds pretty safe even if I mess up and there is somehow some leftovers of that in my final product (I'm aware that the end product of the other classic teks is supposed to also be completely safe).

Does anyone have any experience with this tek? Or know why it is not more popular? It seems people had good results, by looking at that thread I linked above.

2023.02.03 05:38 Gullible-Nature8522 Gears Town

Gears Town
Prescreen-
Electro City is a story of tiny creatures called megawatts who live in our power grid. They travel inside our power lines and live in power stations and transformers. One day a blackout from a thunderstorm threatens everything they hold dear to them. It's up to Frizzy and her friends to travel across the world to save her town. They travel inside power lines, internet cables and under the ocean to find the creator of electricity. With his help they can save Frizzi's town.
----------------
Frizzy here! I've lived in this magical wonderland called Gears Town my whole life. It's full of old-time folks that wear these big straw hats and cowboy boots. We are in the desert after all. It's a small, quiet town with loud people. Spittoons, saloons, wooden old western shops, and our local dog named Rusty Bolts. It's dusty, rough, and full of sand, but with a little shine, I think this place could really start to look up. That's where I come in. Frizzi's the name my family gave me because, well, I'm so frizzy. I rip things apart and build them bigger, better, stronger, and shocking! The rest of my family doesn't really see things the way I do and although we don't share the same interests, I believe one day I could show them the future. By the future I mean the internet. That thing has got it all. Funny videos, crazy people, new and interesting ideas that could really change my town for the better. I can just see it now. (Funny daydream moment of the town in the future)
In my town there lived a colony of furry little creatures called megawatts, that's us. These crazy charged creatures were always jumping around and conducting currents all through the town. Town by town these little furiously cute creatures lived in each and every electrical transformer. You know those cylinder things way up high on those wooden poles by the side of the road. Those little buggers created our entire infrastructure that built the world. Before that there were the ashes (Little fire guys that dripped ash). They were en-caged in these old lanterns and had to be lit every night. (Picture British ashes with posh accents). They used air to travel from lantern to lantern. (Hot air balloon and zeppelin transport with hand gliders and old TVs in their lantern community inside the lantern) (steampunk, kind of magical fairy dust people) Thankfully, those guys are gone, they were so rude. Now with the advancements of Sizzlman Frankbuzz (benjamin franklin) (show him flying a kite and getting shocked as an ash creature) and nikola teswatt (Nikola tesla) we can connect all these communities together to create something even better! The mighty and extravagant Giga City! This city was the substation to the whole process, I'm talking shiny streets, cool cars, and anything your heart desires. (Chrome city with greenery)
These guys made everything possible for the Megawatts and their smaller towns. The city was gigantic and filled with fun and cool things to do. Zipping trains that could just float in the air suspended by magneto creatures. Roads buzzing with the energy of the city. This was no slump, but the magic really happened where it all began, the power plant. This place is the mecca of life itself. It was like the IKEA of the world. Whatever you needed, they had it. Everything stemmed from this place. We all praised the big, towering stacks cutting the clouds in the sky. Nobody was ever allowed to go there but every night I would look across the city and imagine what they could be doing there. What a dream that could have been. (daydreaming). Well, back to my normal routine. I'm a sky climber. I change out lights for the digital creatures. These towers are so high you could see the entire coast. I even get to talk to my buddy Digi. He's like a messenger for the giants(humans). His whole family does it. My Mom says I can only travel in my hometown, but I imagine what it would be like to see the other side. (Dark clouds closing in the distance with lightning and thunder) I better get home, said Frizzy.
I slide down the rope that secures me to the radio tower as the thunder starts to shake and rumble the tower sending rumbling through the metal surface. I Zipline down to electrical wires hanging from the tower which go to the ground. I'm on my way home as I grind through the lanes on my electric roller blades. All the lights on the street level (inside the wire streets) start to dim as lightning slams into the dry desert ground. I shoot my hook gun and grapple onto the lights avoiding falling debris. Almost home, I just have to get there before our town closes the big metal doors as they brace for the storm's impact. I slide under the vault doors and make it into our town center. My house is just down the road. I fly into my bedroom window as the whole house is going under lockdown with sheets of metal locking us all inside. The storm rages as we rush to the basement. Over the radio we hear our mayor comforting all the citizens of Gears Town. A piece of wood and shrapnel cut into our ceiling in the basement and water dripped from above. The lights sizzle, dim and everything fades to darkness. We fell asleep on the couch in the basement surrounded by water beginning to flood.
The next day we woke up and put our house defenses offline. As we all gathered to the town center the mayor of the city said on the intercom that nobody was allowed to leave the city center or beyond. Nobody in our town had electricity and our colors were beginning to fade.(from yellow to black).(faint yellow now). I can help, I yelled out to the crowd. My parents told me I couldn't go and it was too dangerous to go anywhere. I had to do something or everyone and everything would crumble. Our town was losing power drastically by the hour. Flowers were wilting and our home was starting to glitch out. I couldn't just sit here and watch everything vanish. I ran to the back of the wall behind the bushes where I used to sneak out at night to hang out with digi. I jumped on my rollerblades and set off as fast as I could. The highway roads were crumbling and overgrown with vegetation. There I saw the Surges. Dressed in brown with rust covering their metal robotic bodies. One of them yells out "intruder alert," and I jump into the air with my hook gun and grapple onto the street lights. The surges start shooting net guns to try to capture me. They seem to feed off of electric creatures as I spot little yellow guys in their circular bellies. Nice try guys! See you never! I made it up the rope and to the signal tower where digi was. I tell him everything and we make a plan to find the inventor of electricity to save my home town. We travel down the slide inside the cell tower where Digi has his car waiting. It's unlike anything I've ever seen. The streets are full of tvs and colors. Everything is chrome and shiny with trees growing from the ceiling downward. People are traveling alongside us in these vacuum tubes so fast. We make it to his house to gear up and look up where to find the inventor of electricity. His room is filled with computers and tiny walking robots. Even his dog is a robot made of tiny robots. You could change the walls of his room by pressing a button. Now we're at the beach, now we're in the city, now we're in space. Digi showed me everything I have ever dreamed of. On his 3d computer he found a link to the inventor of the internet. All the way in a place called Great Britain. "That's where we need to go, Frizzy," said Digi. From there, we put on our cool tech suits and set off for a journey of a lifetime.
We took Digi’s car to the train station and set off. We got our own room full of snacks. I explored the train as it took off into the sky traveling at the speed of light. So much to see on the outside. (Fiber cable is clear). (Details of places). Projectors and screens showing moving pictures of different places around the world. One of them called "Japan" had cherry blossoms with the pedals falling down on the screen and the pedals were 3d so they were falling into the train through the moonroof. Digi told me of the places in stories that amazed me. Not even Digi has been this far before, goodbye small-town USA, hello the world. Suddenly, all of the lights in the train turned blue, the conductor over the speaker saying fasten your seatbelts, we are going below!!! and we plunged straight down. I grit my eyes closed as Digi laughs at me. I open my eyes to these colorful creatures called fish. So many of them are in big and small groups. Our train finally hits the bottom when the conductor says over the speaker, welcome to the Atlantic Ocean, Dinner is served! Our train lights up and everything around us starts to open up. It's like a huge city highway underground. So many stores, types of weird people. On the outside huge fish and octopus in neon colors. We fall asleep on the train to tranquil sounds and jellyfish floating above us. (Train has a moonroof).
I wake up to breakfast and Digi stuffing his face. Over the speaker I hear next stop, Ireland! Digi and I looked up on his laptop of the things in Ireland and found funny videos. Our train was coming into the station. We got off at the stop but nobody else did. It was like a ghost town. A man of the ash people in a funny uniform with a bagpipe walked up to us and we started saying "yorgin torgin noopie googie." He then started dancing up and down making weird sounds with his instrument. One of his eyes was googlie. Digi hit the top of his head which resets him, and his eye went back into place. He said to us, "whater youus want hmmmm?" We told him how we needed to get to Britain, and he said, "Ol righty over here Yun snappers." He led us to his house which was on a brick road. Looking to the outside we only saw lanterns. No internet or electricity. It was odd but also pretty cool. His house was steampunk with gears and cogs and a smokestack coming out of his house. It looked like a shoe but full of machine parts. He sat us down and drew up a map. His steampunk cat jumped up on the table and greeted us. He stabbed the map and said, "right er here is what you want." He showed us the routes and told us to be careful of the dragons and elf people along the way. He threw his map back in his big treasure chest and showed us to the top of the transport tower where we saw a hang glider and a zeppelin and a hot air balloon. This is how you go, he told us. We picked up the hot air balloon and made off. On the land were goats and farmland. The winds started ramping us and it pushed us off course.
Crash, thud, our balloon was stuck on something as I get up to take a look outside. (Looks out over basket) I look over the edge to see a giant tower as our air balloon gets snagged on the side of it. We jump off as the balloon deflates and we land on the top of the tower where we see some fellow watts towards the middle of the tower. We approach them as they have dinner with an impeccable view. Digi taps on the man's shoulder and asks him where we were. He points to the city and says in a fancy accent with a bit of a mumble, "you are in the grand city of love, food, and dreams. You, my friend, are in France! We need to find London sir, I said. London my dear boy, London is very far, said the French man. He told us to come sit by him for some food. Yum static and protons-light particles, as they float in different colors around the dish like fireflies. He tells us how to get to London. We borrow his cool electric motorcycle and zip down the tower in the power lines. We see everything in the city. I snap pictures for my scrapbook. Digi and I come across a surge with enemies coming straight at us as we drive to our destination. Time for a detour Digi yells as he pulls a wheelie and jumps onto the internet wire down below us. We crash down into the tunnel sending us into a crazy vortex and we accidentally get sent into a house as we slide into the ethernet port of a nearby computer. We ding around inside the wire and get thrown into a laptop connected to the wire.
The light around us in the tunnel instantly goes into darkness. We are knee deep in beautiful baby blue water heading down the tunnel. We venture towards the end of the tunnel which is illuminated by an eye searing bright white light. It becomes more apparent the farther we walk towards it. We stand at the end of the tunnel looking down. Below us is a glistening waterfall flowing thousands of feet down into a green and mossy ravine with black sands. The ravine leading to a metropolis of lights and a mega city. We jump and glide through the air with our hang gliders. The air hitting our faces filled with mist from the waterfall and flying insects high in the sky. We look to see where the ravine leads to in the distance as we approach closer.
"This place looks wild '', it's a city built with 100 levels of towns and highways. Half all chrome in the city and half wildlife. Green trees growing in the sidewalk and vines growing on the chroma buildings. Everyone here is full of so much color. Everyone is wearing business suits and riding on sport bikes leaving rainbow trails behind on a blue led highway. We see a bike rack and borrow a bike and drive around looking for our way out of here. We stop off at a diner and take a seat. We overhear someone talking about the world beyond us as everyone ignores him. The cook behind the diner shouts the man's name demanding him to leave, "Stop with your nonsense Glitch!" He takes his coffee with his sign that reads "There's a world beyond, I've seen it". We follow the man outside where he is sitting on the street corner by his stuff. We approach him and ask him who he is and if he can help us. His face lights up and he tells us dreams of a world beyond this place. He tells us his name is Glitch and that people call him that because he can't do anything but dream. Glitch said he was born to dream and see the world. He was the result of a computer system glitch. (He was a malfunctioning digital creature who acted funny and glitched a little like someone was zapping him. (He has a hole in his shoe with a toe hanging out, he wears a cap on his head that is worn and owns a little cat named Leo) (Leo is a fat Chinese cat) He was unlike any of the other people here which acted like robots with no expression. We told him that we believed him and that we could help him see the world beyond here if he would help us try to find the outside world. He told us that he knows of a way but it's very dangerous and he needed our help to make it out. He said we had to venture up the 100 stories by climbing the mountain on the side of the 100-story building. This was the shortcut as we couldn't get into each level without clearance. The man brings out hiking gear inside of his tent in the alley and hands us the gear. We all get the gear on and walk to the mountain. Climbing it with the cold snowy files brushing across us. (Mountain is snow but instead of snow its white papers/files of a computer) We walk for miles and climb up with pickaxes and rope attached to our belts. Swinging across like in tomb raider we jump to a cliff to get around the dead end. We find a hut and a snowmobile sitting beside it. Me and Digi get on and the man gets on the skies attached to the snowmobile. He yells with joy and laughter as we shred the mountain. Digi yells look out! A rumble starts to make our snowmobile swerve and the man behind yells avalanche! We try to outmaneuver it, but we get buried.
I wake up frantically and look for Digi. I can't find him and I'm alone and scared. (The static electricity around him turns blue) After hours of searching, I break down and cry. I look into my backpack at the scrapbook that I was putting together and look at the Gears Town people, Digi, and other moments. I say to myself, I'm sorry, I couldn't make it. I fell asleep in the nap sack I packed in my backpack. I wake up to laughter and a light. I follow the light guided by the aura borealis. The laughter and sounds get louder and louder. I see a campfire and logs beside it with glowing marshmallows over it. (Marshmallows are light particles that look like it) It's a cute little black and white cat with spots. I'll call you Muca. I thought I heard Digi though. You did, said Digi behind me. I turn around with a smile and hug him. I thought you were a goner. The crazy man jumped from under the snow papers under me and said, same here sparky. I was so glad to see them. What do we do now I asked? Both of them said they didn't know. Muca looked at me and pointed with her nose in a direction with a funny noise showing us that she wanted us to follow her. We follow Muca to a weird glowing hole in the ground near the top of the mountain. Muca points down and smiles. Thank you little one. Muca jumps into my backpack, and we slide through the hole in the ground. We fell down onto a train. We see signs everywhere on the sides pointing to Britain. Yes! We are on the way finally.
Passing the blue ring tube, we hit a mega slide and are launched into the air. We land in the digital tube and make our way inside the directory, the telephone booth. We run across the index and look up electricity city to find the creator of electricity. He is somewhere in the district called clock Mod City. Digi points to the only clock in sight. It's a giant Clock tower. That must be it, Frizzy replied. We jump on the telephone buttons dialing the location in and get sucked into the phone. It takes us to the underground ancient sewers of London where we see another civilization and then we shoot to the top of the tower. There we see clocks everywhere and a long hallway with cool artifacts. We knock on the big door to see the inventor of electricity. No answer. We walk inside and see a robot man made of clock parts. He tells us the inventor hasn't been seen for years. We came all this way to help fix my town, we told the man. He said the inventor told the robotic man that he was expecting Frizzy would come and to tell him that he was the key to the future. The robotic man gave him a book showing him everything the inventor worked on and everything that the future would hold. He saw battery designs, cool looking windmills and a device that would generate lightning to use as power. The clock man/robotic man was the future see-er and told Frizzy that he was going to do things that the world has never seen before. The clock man then said there's no time to waste and opened the roof of the clock tower which had a giant satellite, it sucked them into it. The clock man said you are the key Frizzy, while he threw them an artifact, saying you'll know what to do with it when the time comes, it's what you have always done. They turned into particles and beamed into outer space where they saw little space guys as they were beaming to the satellite in the sky. They saw the past and future as they were getting beamed up. (Past and future for Digi and frizzy so digital stuff and electrical inventions). They made it to the satellite where they saw another civilization of creatures who had a city there on the satellite. They were then re-directed by the satellite through a toll way with a really lazy person who let people into the major highway. They made it past the tollway and to Gears town after they told the person where they needed to go after they paid the tollway. Beamed back down to gears town. They ran away from the surges and Frizzy looked at the artifact and saw a Wi-Fi symbol on it. Frizzy looked to the sky and it clicked. The radio tower Frizzy exclaimed! They raced up to the tower in the Nic of time before their whole town was destroyed. Digi held them off and Frizzy inserted the artifact into the radio tower which sent out shock waves fixing everything. The Surges disappeared, the towns turned vibrant again and the power plant turned back on. (The power plant was slowly fading off). They go back to the town center in Gears town and Frizzy is congratulated along with Digi. Everyone is so curious about Digi because they have never seen a creature like that. They were both given the keys to the city in a ceremony and Frizzy was given the Lightning bolt which could open the Power plant. The mayor of Gears town told Frizzy he earned it. Make us proud, he told Frizzy and Digi. They went to the power plant and saw that in the control center it was the inventor of the electricity with pictures of him everywhere and his knickknacks on the table with a note that said, Reach for the stars Frizzy.
--------------------
Digi and Frizzy worked together on so many projects there. Created so many inventions. Frizzy came up with something called the fusion reactor which made an artificial sun on earth that could generate endless electricity for everyone. They invented wireless electrical poles. Everyone from Gears town mixed in with the people from the big cities to a new place called Atlas where they all lived together. This was A mega substation city. Frizzy invited Digi and everyone they met on their way to London to a big party. They lived in peace and had a blast together. End of story. (Show funny and cool stuff after.) (Fill in parts later if other characters join in power plant for different ending)

Summary
----------------
A giant storm causes the power plant to malfunction and causes a blackout and surge (bad guys) to invade and take over the creatures' cities and towns. The main character has to work with the other villages to travel across the world by internet to uncover how to fix their hometowns. Under water lines where he travels and across the skies by Wi-Fi and older communities where he gets stuck in Ireland with the ash community and needs to find a way to England where it all began with a reference to the creator of the internet. Picturing America as the cowboy west in Nevada (his hometown) and the big cities of New York. He also ends up in Japan. The creature looks like that country. All furry creature balls but different face features and outfits.

2023.02.03 05:38 Argatlam K-96 Improvements open house

Today, at the NCAT off Webb Road near Jabara Airport, KDOT held its open house for the K-96 widening and associated improvements. I attended in person.
They had a rollplot of the K-96 corridor spread over multiple tables, surrounded by poster boards giving details of proposed designs for each interchange, the National Environmental Policy Act process, and possible mitigations for increased noise. Some, but not all, of the material on display can be downloaded in PDF format here:
https://www.k96improvements.com/open-house
Material not available online (as of this writing) includes the rollplot and the boards dealing with noise.
In brief, this is what KDOT proposes to do:
Since K-96 would be upgraded more or less within its current footprint, I expect the right-of-way acquisition to be minimal. However, I could see there would be takes at Rock (for a larger interchange footprint and the 32nd Street relocation) and Webb (the proposed westbound exit ramp would clip part of the airfield at Jabara Airport). The posters dealing with noise noted that KDOT considers mitigation, such as sound walls, for increases of 10 dB or more. I will be surprised if any are provided because a doubling of traffic would roughly double sound power, translating to only a 3 dB increase at noise receivers whose distance to the freeway lanes will not change.
We do not currently have any DDIs in Wichita, though there are plenty in metro KC. The DLTs proposed for Woodlawn and Rock would be the first in Kansas, though one of the representatives present noted there are existing examples in Liberty, Missouri and North Carolina.
There were TV crews present, including for KSN (Channel 3).

2023.02.03 05:37 IndominousDragon Horror books are boring

I've never been a horror book Fan. Movies? Sure why not. But the books are like ODing on sleeping pills.
There's a movie coming out soon (something about a Cabin idk, typical scary movie thing) but i just realized that my BIL had the audiobook playing in the car for a road trip a few months ago and omg it was the poorest written thing ever.
Granted this is probably more to do with the author, but the fact that it got picked up for a movie is ridiculous. There are so many more deserving books not wasting time on this.
There was absloutly zero cohesive voice/narrator for the story. (Not the person reading it for the audio book) It starts 3rd person POV of a 7 yr old. The most descriptive 7 yr old that has ever existed. Like wow. It was like a Jr high student trying to reach a 2000 word count by deepthroating a thesaurus for the 1000 words they had. It was painful to listen to.
THEN no warning, jump to POV of the adoptive dads. Not just 1, it flip flopped between both of them for the duration of their chapter. 1 would talk and you get the internal monologue, the. The other would talk and suddenly you get his internal monologue as well. Both of which are making assumptions of what the other is thinking and how they feel. Most confusing thing ever.
Then i fell asleep for a couple hours.
Consciousness regretfully blessed me once again to that ear tourture. Now we got some little group of bad guys that rolled up on the little fams vacay in the middle of no where. Unknown number of people. For a while it was 2 dudes and a lady. Then suddenly a new guys name would pop up. And again we are hoping POVs like it's an Olympic sport, while throwing in the 7 yr old for some pizzazz.
Sleep was my only escape.
BOOM 💥 back again. The most confusing fight/struggle I've ever read. (And let me tell you. I own over 200 books, all fiction variations. I have been in the trenches of online fanfics and this scene easily hits tops 5 most confusing scene)
I remember counting, lil fam=3, Baddies=5/6. Lil fam is a couple dudes and a 7 yr old that are all painfully city people with no outdoor skills and ZERO fighting skill. The baddies out number them but also still some how almost lose? 1 dies i think. There was 2 guns out of all the people present and 1 of them was in the car of the lil fam ??? Wut?
Oh and don't forget we are still POV hoping the ENTIRE TIME. There's a whole damn point when one of the dad's monologues to themselves about said gun and how much he didn't want it but his husband did and his thoughts on that. Whole ass flashback.
Idk if they ever finished it but it felt like it took years off my life trying to listen to that.

2023.02.03 05:37 HairyThrowawayAcc My friend is caught up in a weird rental scam

Hello everyone. On a throwaway account because this has some identifying stuff. Please try to be kind, I know a lot of this stuff is infuriating. I was upset too.
I live in the San Diego area. I have a family friend who has been having trouble with what is likely a rental scam. My family friend doesn’t have employment except for occasional babysitting when her kid is at school, but it’s a small kid so they aren’t at school very long. Dad is not in the picture. She’s undocumented (her kid is not).
She got an eviction notice from the people she was renting a room from on January 1st because their son was moving back in. She had 30 days to look for a place for her and her kid. After many rejections, she found a room on Facebook Marketplace. She messaged the guy and went to go check it out. It looked fine to her, and she was desperate to find housing for her kid, so she gave the guy first month’s rent ($850 cash). She gave him the money on January 25.
Of course, something was fishy because the dude kept posting the ad. I messaged him and he let me come check it out, same room. Place was hardly furnished, rooms were messy, and he somehow had 4 pitbulls in the apartment, though he said they were his brothers and they don’t live there (hmmm). I told her about this, and on January 27, she asked him if she could get the key already. He texted sure, on Feb 1st . We wanted to see how this played out. Feb 1st comes, and he says his “family member” died. Typical. He says he can give either the key or the rent back on Feb 2nd. Family friend asks for the rent money back. He says ok. Well, today he says that he had a family emergency, can we wait another day? We give up. He’s just giving us the runaround. Contact has ceased for now.
How is this dude comfortable with letting people into his apartment all the time? Could it be he’s just renting a sublet and he’s going to disappear soon? Or he lives somewhere else? He is most likely using a fake name as well. When I drive by his place (I’ve been snooping around and the unit is easy to see from the street) I see lots of different crackhead-looking folks going in and out, as well as unsuspecting tenants-to-be checking his place out.
It’s obvious she got scammed and is very distraught because she has no income except from government support. She’s staying at my place for the month, but I don’t have a lot of space, especially for a growing kiddo. She says she realizes how foolish she was by ignoring all the red flags, but she was scared of being homeless with her kid. She says she’ll go to the county office to see if she can get hotel vouchers because she doesn’t want to impose. I feel bad for her but don’t know how to help her. Police have told us we can file a report but most likely nothing will happen. We’ve accepted we will most likely never see that money again. My questions are:

  1. Should this go to small claims court? We have a lot of text screenshots, voice recordings, and pictures that I sneaked when I went to go check it out. She also has a picture of a very shoddy rental agreement (it’s on a scrap of paper) that has their signatures indicating that he accepted the $850. I'm concerned it's not enough and it'll be a lot of he-said-she-said.
  2. If we tell the landlord what will happen? We’re worried the dude's just going to disappear once he realizes he’s been found out. Can the landlord legally tell us the dude's real name? Apparently subletting is not allowed in those apartments, if that is what he is doing.
  3. We’re worried about her undocumented status getting in the way with seeking legal action. Is this a valid concern? She doesn’t have a bank account either, if that matters. She’s fluent in English.

He said he belongs to the Mormon church. Friend said she did see some missionaries eating inside when she went one time (wtf?). Would it be advisable to report him to his church? Kind of grasping at straws for anything to hurt him, I guess. Though I doubt he's actually part of the church...
I just don’t want anyone else to get scammed by this loser, especially desperate people like my family friend. San Diego is already a difficult city to find housing in.
Thanks for reading all of this. I appreciate any advice or general support.

2023.02.03 05:36 shade0220 How does your company handle Cloud Oracle Administration?

Howdy! Recently my large corporate company has been teetering on the edge of who handles their Cloud Oracle responsibilities and I was just brought into their Identity Access Management (IAM) team who is surprisingly responsible for a large amount of it including all daily and weekly tasks like integration errors, users with no jobcode, etc. They had a team member who had the sole duty of everything Oracle move departments and haven't been able to keep up with the tasks as nobody knew the duties but her. After learning the duties it has come into question whether the administration of this is our team's responsibility.
Our team completely sets up the test and stage environment when it is refreshed to the point of changing the colors/fonts/css and preset style options (they want it specific?). Not to mention all of the auditing reports that need to be made and whatnot. I'm new to the team so I don't feel like I have much of a say but when I moved to the Cybersecurity team, specifically for an IAM role, I didn't think we would be in charge of such a system set apart from our main authentication method which is SSO. My coworkers are using this as a catalyst to try and get it out of our team's responsibilities because it takes so much time and want to put together a manifesto of sorts to explain why our ERP team should be responsible for it's own system. Mind you we are a larger org so everything is very much in sections so it's always a who is responsible for this kind of thing.
TLDR: Who the heck manages Oracle administration (or similar) at your organization if you use it?

2023.02.03 05:36 Mortamass New Bristlenose Pleco w/ bent fin + deceased Cardinal Tetra

New Bristlenose Pleco w/ bent fin + deceased Cardinal Tetra
Went to a new LFS yesterday (as my previous LFS shut down). Purchased 2 Bristlenose Plecos to add to my tank. The day before buying them and the day of, I tested the water parameters and had no issues. Upon integrating the plecos into my tank, I noticed one of them has a bent pectoral fin on its right side (refer to photos). I am curious what everyone suggests, should I be asking for a refund or not. Is it a genetic defect or something more severe like fin rot?

On top of that, I also found a dead Cardinal Tetra behind my filter intake this morning. Very odd timing that I would have to asssume is associated with the new plecos as I have not had any issues with my fish lately. I have included some photos of the Cardinal Tetra, curious to know if there's any assumptions to how it died?

Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: I did notice a glowlight tetra go up to the plecos bent pectoral fin and maybe poke/bite it?
