2023.02.03 06:20 madmag23 English Premier League 2022/2023 Gameweek 22 Prediction

SATURDAY 04 FEBRUARY 2023 (GMT +7)
Chelsea vs Fulham
It’s been a crazy January transfer window for Chelsea as they have spent over £300m to strengthen Graham Potter’s squad. The first test for the freshly looked Chelsea side would be when their London rival Fulham visits Stamford Bridge this evening. The visitor will go into this match on the back of two back-to-back defeats in the Premier League against Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. Marco Silva knows it will be another tough test for them facing a much stronger Chelsea side and it is interesting to see how he will approach this match. After three consecutive defeats in all competitions, Chelsea is currently unbeaten in the last two games (W1 D1), scoring one goal while keeping two clean sheets in the process. The home side will be boosted by the return of Reece James, Ben Chilwell, and Raheem Sterling as they have recovered from their respective injuries. It also remains to be seen whether the new guys like Enzo Fernandez and Noni Madueke will get their debut or not in this match. Meanwhile, the visitor has no fresh injury concerns as everyone has come back fit for them. Fulham might win the reverse fixture a month ago, but I believe Chelsea will get the three points this time.
Prediction: 55 – 45
Everton vs Arsenal
This match between Everton and Arsenal will be the first game in charge for Everton’s new manager Sean Dyche who is tasked to revive Everton’s campaign this season after struggling under Frank Lampard. Everton is currently 19th in the league and is without a win in their last 8 league games prior to this. The supporter of Everton would hope that the arrival of Sean Dyche would help them to improve their performance in the league to avoid relegation. But they are disappointed that Everton did not manage to sign anyone in the January transfer window even though they have the money from the departure of their academy graduate Antony Gordon to Newcastle United. Facing the league leader Arsenal will be a big test for Sean Dyche. Arsenal has been very solid this season and is a strong favorite to win the Premier League this season. They even add more quality to their squad in the January transfer window after the arrival of Jorginho from their rival Chelsea. Despite getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City on Tuesday, Arsenal will be determined to put things right in this match to extend their lead at the top of the table. And I back them to deliver.
Prediction: 40 – 60
Aston Villa vs Leicester City
Unai Emery’s magic is happening at Aston Villa at the moment. The revival of Aston Villa upon his arrival is there for everyone to see. They are currently undefeated in their last four games in the Premier League (W3 D1) and slowly establish themselves in the mid-table position. They will welcome the visit of Leicester City who struggles after the restart of the campaign as no team has lost more games than them in the Premier League (L4) or won fewer points (1). They try to solve that problem by signing Harry Souttar from Stoke City and also Victor Kristiansen from FC Kobenhavn in the January transfer window. The latter made his debut in the FA Cup this week when Leicester beat Walsall 1-0. He looks set to retain his place as left-back but Harry Souttar won’t be available for this match as he is still recovering from his injury. In the same fixture last season, the home side won the game 2-1. They would love to repeat the occasion in this match and there are good signs that they would be able to deliver three points for their home fans in this match. It is expected that Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins would lead the line again for Aston Villa in this match and both players have scored one goal in their last two appearances for Aston Villa. Should they fail to score goals here, the new signing from America Jhon Duran might play a part here.
Prediction: 55 – 45
Brentford vs Southampton
Southampton’s terrible run of form continues after they failed to progress to the final of the EFL Cup after getting beaten by Newcastle United in the two-leg semi-final. Their performance in the league has also been worrying after losing seven of their last eight games in the Premier League (W1). Still stuck at the bottom of the table, they will travel to Brentford Community Stadium tomorrow to face Brentford, a team that is currently unbeaten in their last five games in the Premier League (W3 D2). Moreover, Southampton’s most recent visit to Brentford ended in a bad way as they were thrashed to a 3-0 defeat last season. The goals were scored by Kristoffer Ajer, Pontus Jansson, and Yoane Wissa. The home side will be encouraged by that positive result last season and we can expect them to approach this match positively and go on all attacks from the start of the match. The visitor has added Ghanian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana to their rank and he might get a place on the bench here. But they will be without Kyle Walker-Peters who went out injured in their last game against Newcastle United. On the other side, Brentford has no fresh injury concerns ahead of this match and Thomas Franck will have the luxury of fielding a really strong XI here. I expect Brentford to continue their unbeaten run after this match.
Prediction: 55 – 45
Brighton vs Bournemouth
Roberto De Zerbi’s side continues their excellent form as they beat Liverpool 2-1 in the FA Cup on Wednesday. That is the second they beat Liverpool in the course of two weeks. They are currently unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions (W4 D1) and will have a good opportunity to continue that run of form when they entertain Bournemouth at Amex Community Stadium tomorrow. The visitor’s recent poor form saw them getting beaten 10 times in their last 12 games in all competitions (W1 D1). They also hold the worst defense in the league as they conceded 42 goals from 20 games, an average of 2.1 goals conceded per game. Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil has a big homework to improve on that and facing Brighton which is famous for its attacking performance will be a big test for them. To address their defensive problem, Bournemouth has signed Ukrainian center-back Ilya Zabarnyi from Dinamo Kyiv and Matias Vina from AS Roma. They have also signed Hamed Junior Traore from Sassuolo and Antoine Semenyo from Bristol City to improve their attacking unit. One big task for the visitor in this game is to try to stop Kaoru Mitoma from his red-hot form. The Japanese has been very impressive in his recent appearances for Brighton. He scored four goals and created one assist in his last six appearances for Brighton. Bournemout’s right-back Adam Smith will go head-to-head with him in this match and I back the Japanese to continue his excellent form for Brighton in this match. Should be an easy win for Brighton here.
Prediction: 60 – 40
Manchester United vs Crystal Palace
Without a win in their last two games in the Premier League, Manchester United will face the challenge of Crystal Palace, a team that they can only beat once in the last five meetings with them in the Premier League (D2 L2). But this time, the confidence will be high at Old Trafford as they just progressed to the final of the EFL Cup and are winning all of their last five home games in the Premier League. Marcus Rashford will be the main threat to Crystal Palace’s defense in this match as he has 11 goal contributions for the Red Devils in his last 10 appearances for them (8 goals + 3 assists). Another player that will be important for Manchester United in this match is Bruno Fernandes who has 7 goal contributions for them in his last 10 appearances for them (3 goals scored + 4 assists). The absence of Cristian Eriksen will only make his presence in Manchester United’s midfield more important in the upcoming games. It is also worth noting that Jadon Sancho and Antony Martial are back fit for Manchester United and could play a part in this game. On the other side, Crystal Palace will miss Wilfried Zaha and Joachim Andersen in this game due to injury. But Patrick Vieira’s side manages to strengthen his midfield by signing Albert Sambi Lokonga from Arsenal and also Naouirou Ahamada from Stuttgart. It remains to be seen whether they will have their debut here. The home side’s recent form and the return of Jadon Sancho and Antony Martial would be a differential here.
Prediction: 55 – 45
Wolves vs Liverpool
Still at 17th position in the league and having the same amount of points as Bournemouth at 18th position, Wolves are desperate for three points and they will try to do that when they welcome the visit of Liverpool to Molineux Stadium tomorrow. Both sides have met two times in the FA Cup last month and Liverpool has the advantage with one win and one draw. Interestingly, Liverpool’s win over Wolves in the FA Cup is their only win in their last six games in all competitions (D2 L3). Last time out, they were beaten 2-1 by Brighton in the FA Cup. Determined to put things right, Jurgen Klopp’s side would give them all to get back to winning ways in this match. It is worth noting that Liverpool has won each of their last 11 Premier League games against Wolves so they will be confident to extend that positive record here. However, Wolves will not make it easy for them. There are notable improvements under Julen Lopetegui and he has signed good players to help Wolves in the second half of the campaign. They just sign Joao Gomes from Flamengo to add more quality in the central midfield area after he also sign Mario Lemina two weeks before. The arrival of Pablo Sarabia also adds more quality up front. This will be a tight game and I think the spoils will be shared in this match.
Prediction: 50 – 50

2023.02.03 05:49 Fredzurm Stereo noob can’t get his records to sound good :(

Hello, I am having issues with my receiver outputting from my turntable. Its volume is dramatically lower than if I were to be playing a cd through my disc changer, or if I was watching a movie. I didn’t think much of the volume differences until I started comparing albums on vinyl vs. cd though…
Bass through my connected subwoofer is, there, I guess… but kinda sucks with my records Vs on cd, which in turn is great.
Then I then started to notice almost a faint “hiss” after each lyric ending with a “sssss” sound on vinyl.
Could this be something to do with the receivers built in phono preamp? The previous owner of the receiver told me he used a preamp but when I called a record shop to talk about it, I was told a receivers built in preamp is generally better than a standalone. I don’t want to get a preamp to be even more dissatisfied with the sound from my records.
While I love collecting and listening to my records, admittedly, I only have hand me down equipment so I totally get that I need to invest for the best quality, though I don’t know where to begin. At one point I was thinking a new phono cartridge, then a preamp. Could anyone shed some light on this for me? I’ve been hesitant to buy any new record’s because of this, which in turn is bumming me out…

2023.02.03 05:13 Keanu__Gaming__xD [EFFORTPOST] WHY JAMES HARDEN SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ALL STAR

In this essay, I will defend the argument that James Harden deserves to be an all-star over Jrue Holiday and Demar Derozan. The criteria for being selected as an all-star can be subjective, but in this scenario, we will consider individual statistics as well as team success. To begin, let's consider James Harden's performance this season. In 34 games played, he has been instrumental in helping lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference. Harden has been an offensive juggernaut, averaging 21.4 points per game on 44.9% shooting from the field. Not only does he lead the team in points per game, but he also ranks first in assists with 11.0 per game, showing his versatility and unselfishness as a playmaker. Furthermore, Harden's efficiency as a scorer is evident in his True Shooting Percentage (TS%) of 61.9%. This statistic takes into account 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws, and is a more comprehensive measure of a player's shooting efficiency. In comparison, Jrue Holiday's TS% is 55.5, and Demar Derozan's is 60.0, indicating that Harden is a more efficient scorer. Another important aspect to consider is a player's impact on the offensive and defensive end. In this regard, James Harden stands out with a 124 offensive rating and a 115 defensive rating, which measures the number of points a player produces or allows per 100 possessions, respectively. Jrue Holiday has an ORtg of 114 and a DRtg of 112, while Demar Derozan has an ORtg of 120 and a DRtg of 116. These statistics suggest that Harden has a greater impact on both ends of the floor, making him a more valuable asset to his team.
It is worth noting that Harden's ability to get to the free throw line is also a testament to his offensive prowess. He averages 8.6 free throw attempts per game, a significant number compared to Jrue Holiday's 2.0 and Demar DeRozan's 5.8. This indicates that Harden is not only a threat from beyond the arc, but also has the ability to get to the rim and draw fouls, making him a difficult player to defend. In addition to individual statistics, team success is also a crucial factor in determining all-star status. The Philadelphia 76ers are currently the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference with a solid record of 33 wins and 17 losses. Demar Derozan's Chicago Bulls are the 10th seed. While Holiday and Derozan have been solid contributors for their teams, it is evident that Harden has had a greater impact on his team's success. To conclude, James Harden is a dominant force on both ends of the floor and has been instrumental in leading the Philadelphia 76ers to a top-3 seed in the Eastern Conference. His impressive individual statistics, including a high TS%, high ORtg, and ability to get to the free throw line, make him a more valuable player compared to Jrue Holiday and Demar Derozan. The coaches select all-stars based on a combination of individual statistics and team success, and in this regard, James Harden stands out as a deserving candidate for the all-star roster. In light of the above discussion, it is clear that James Harden should be an all-star over Jrue Holiday and Demar Derozan.
In addition to his impact on the game, James Harden's ability to play multiple positions is a huge asset to his team. His versatility allows the 76ers to have more options on offense and defense, giving them an advantage over their opponents. He has proven that he can play both guard positions, as well as handle the ball and initiate the offense. This makes him a valuable asset for any team, as he can play multiple roles and contribute in different ways.
It is also worth mentioning that James Harden's leadership and unselfishness on the court is a major factor in his success. He consistently puts his team first, always looking to make the right play and finding his teammates in the right spots. He sets an example for his teammates to follow, and his leadership and selflessness has been a key factor in the 76ers' success this season.
In comparison, Jrue Holiday and Demar DeRozan are solid players, but they do not bring the same level of versatility and impact to their teams as James Harden. Holiday is a solid point guard, but he is not as dominant. DeRozan is a skilled scorer, but his inefficiency from the field and limited impact on the defensive end make him a less valuable player compared to Harden.
It is also worth mentioning that James Harden has a long and illustrious career in the NBA, and his track record speaks for itself. He has been named to the All-Star team ten times in his career, and has also been named to the All-NBA First Team three times. He has won the scoring title three times, and his exceptional playmaking skills have earned him the assist title twice. This experience and success at the highest level of the game cannot be ignored when evaluating his all-star credentials.
Harden's reputation as a clutch performer cannot be ignored either. In clutch situations, where the game is within 5 points in the final 5 minutes, Harden has been a go-to option for the 76ers. His clutch shooting and playmaking ability have helped his team secure important victories in close games.
In conclusion, James Harden's impressive individual statistics, impact on both ends of the floor, team success, and reputation as a clutch performer make him a deserving all-star candidate. His long and illustrious career in the NBA is also a testament to his exceptional skills and abilities. When comparing him to Jrue Holiday and Demar Derozan, it is clear that James Harden is the superior player and should be selected as an all-star.

2023.02.03 05:07 DragonfruitOdd1989 Moment of Contact (Oct. 2022) - The Compelling Follow-Up to 'The Phenomenon' by James Fox

Trailer: https://youtu.be/pE7hVSlk7Zw
James Fox has done it again. "Moment of Contact" is a brilliant follow-up to his previous film, "The Phenomenon." While "The Phenomenon" offered a comprehensive overview of the UFO phenomenon, "Moment of Contact" delves deep into one particular close encounter case from Brazil, a story that many may not be familiar with.
One of the highlights of "The Phenomenon" was its finale, which presented compelling witness testimony about the 1994 close encounter of 60 children with a UFO and its occupant at the Ariel School in Zimbabwe. Fox expertly blended archival footage with new interviews with the now-adult children, making for a powerful and unforgettable segment. "Moment of Contact" takes this same approach and applies it to the 1996 case in Brazil, dubbed as "Brazil's Roswell."
The film tracks down all the people involved in the case, including a witness who had never spoken about his experience until now due to direct threats from US agents. The story is brought to life through a combination of archival footage and recent interviews with the three girls who were the first to see one of the beings that wandered into the town. The military personnel who captured the aliens are also interviewed, investigative team is threaten to be shot by a major witness to the event adding another layer to the already compelling story.
The large number of witnesses, including those who saw a UFO searching for the occupants, make it a difficult story to ignore or debunk. "Moment of Contact" is a must-watch for anyone interested in exploring the possibility of extraterrestrial life and their interactions with humanity.
The after credits contains more content with more military and governmental witnesses going on the record with the existence of videographic and photographic evidence is teased.
