Friends, I am so ready for your downvotes! But I feel stuck in-between. I mostly enjoy the “big maps” on Infinite, but also I often hate doing BTB with 12v12. I just want to do back-to-back, “big team” games with a more reasonable 6v6 or 8v8. What are the options? Is there a place we can go to get away from random matchmaking, and just play the good shit?
Possibly a google sheet or some way to get a HUGE list of gamertags who are in the same boat? Or different boats on that same canal.

When we define a 95% confidence interval, we are effectively saying that we are 95% confident that the true value of the parameter we are estimating is within that interval. And we also say that if we repeated this data collection we just did a billion times, then 95% of THOSE confidence intervals from each of our billion experiments will also wrap around the "true value".
My question is, why are we so confident that our first stab at defining that interval was a good one? There's still a 5% chance that the one data collection we did actually missed the true value. Like if the true mean is 2.50, and our CI was (2.21 - 2.39), we'd say that we now expect that repeating this experiment a billion times should give confidence intervals that seep into that 2.21 - 2.39 range 95% of the time, but the other 5% of the time, it's gonna be a CI that's 2.40 or higher, or 2.20 or lower, and those results will be wacky and wrong! But see the problem here? The 2.40 and above is actually CORRECT and our first experiment screwed it all up!
Am I interpreting this correctly? I guess I don't really see why we describe this confidence interval in these terms. I would think that any given CI, in a frequentist paradigm, would need to be interpreted like "there's a 95% chance that we successfully found the true value, and if we did, it's somewhere between 2.21 and 2.39", as opposed to saying "in a general sense, 95% of our 95% CIs will capture the true mean, which is just a general statement that says literally nothing about the accuracy of this CI so this is all superfluous and pointless to say." I've been reading about bayesian vs frequentist interpretations and I see this a lot:" 95% CIs just mean that 95% of the CIs will capture the true value." That's all well and good, but that is just a general statement about CIs, not about OUR CI, and people want to know what it actually means, don't they?
Does this make sense? It's been a long day lol. To try and summarize as best I can, I feel like I should be able to define my frequentist confidence interval by saying "there's a 95% chance that the true value of the parameter is between these two values. The remaining 5% chance is that this window missed the true value." Is that a fair interpretation?

I was watching the home going service for Tyre Nichols yesterday. The reverend Al Sharpton said he had, "never seen a tree eat its own fruit."
I thought it a strange saying. Then I was just thinking about trees. Specifically, my grandmother's trees. My grandparents had this little homestead out in the country before my grandpa passed. I loved that place. It was a place where I was rooted in the land and the place that was a home to me.
My grandmother had persimmon trees in the yard. Each year, the tree would give beautiful fruits. Sometimes my grandmother would collect them, but there was such an abundance of fruit, the tree would blossom and give its fruit to the land and creatures.
It was amazing because the fruit would bring butterflies that would visit during their migration to eat their fill to gain strength before continuing on their journey.
Smaller creatures; rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks would benefit as well.
When I was thinking about this, I realized that the tree does eat the fruit that falls. It's not obvious, but a subtle and beautiful part of the life process. The fallen fruits feed the tree itself and the network of trees that are connected to it.
This is a passive process of course because trees are trees. This happens with all trees that bear fruit and change with the cycles of the seasons.
I guess many people don't see into the life of trees. The trees aren't hiding anything. The trees aren't savage. The trees aren't tearing limbs from their own body. The trees aren't breaking their own branches.
The trees are just being trees. They feed. They fill life and the living. They don't waste their seed.

In this forest, there are falling acorns that bounce around which the player needs to dodge. All,
As promised, I've been noodling through how to make the community more interactive and get all of us engaged and involved through some type of contest; while I'd like to do something small rather quickly for everyone, what I'd really like to do is GO BIG and give away a SOME PAIRS OF CUSTOM REDDIT-THEMED Cowboy boots! I'm not sure how many of you have seen the Communityfunds subreddit (give it a look) but I feel like our niche little community has grown so much in the last few years that we should give it a shot! I've got some ideas ginned up for fostering a spirit of competition and togetherness while promoting our Sub to the World!
So what does cowboyboots need from you? I'd like to borrow some of your collective brain power and help kick around some design ideas, identify (reasonably priced) custom makers, as well as some more basic ideas for the contest such as what would constitute a winner (e.g. most up-voted post), or if we go with a more generic sweepstakes theme and choose winners at random based on subscribers/submissions which might help open up the pool of contestants to those who cannot afford boots themselves or do not have the means to seriously get into the hobby, potentially giving everyone an equal chance at winning a really spectacular prize. I can see some Snoo-inlay black shafts with a user or subreddit name across the back and some wicked custom hand-stitched toe bugs...
This is meant to bring us together and empower Redditors so I can also imagine a scenario where we'd bring the community together in a virtual event of sorts and possibly bring in a western personality/YouTuber to have a live contest and read out winners during the event, or it could be something more low-key where we simply pick the names out of a hat and present them in a stickied post but I like the idea of bringing a few hundred of us together! I do tend to think big though, so I'll willing to work as hard as folks are willing to engage on ideas.
I've got some thoughts and price ranges jotted down as I work through the submission form and we certainly need to think about risks and challenges but I'd love nothing more than to see this group continue to thrive. None of this happens without an amazing community's support; if we get sufficient interest we can make this into a real thing!
