Just finished Ever17, so I thought I’d make a review.
Basic info: Ever17: The Out of Infinity was released in Japan on August 29th, 2002 for the Sega Dreamcast and Sony PlayStation 2 home gaming consoles. In May of 2003, it was released for Windows-based PCs, which was shortly followed by a localization and North American release in December of 2005. A Sony PlayStation Portable port was released in 2009, followed by the Microsoft Xbox 360 remaster in 2011 and mobile phones in 2013. The only North American release was the 2005 PC version, though english patches for PS2 and PSP versions exist.
The game is part of the Infinity series of visual novels developed by KID and Kotaro Uchikoshi, the latter of which more famous for his work on the Zero Escape series. This visual novel has many themes consistent with Uchikoshi’s writing, such as a present or near-future setting, plot twists, time travel and time loops. Ever17 was the first of his works to use the formula that made the Zero Escape series so successful, as the previous game, Never7, was more heavily focused on the main character’s relationships with the heroines.
Setting: The game takes place in an idealized 2017 and 2034 just off the coast of modern-day Japan. I can certainly understand why the vast majority of your army would have bolt action rifles; but why weren't a small percentage given repeating rifles or shotguns for when you got into the trenches? In WW2 almost every major power was willing to give a small proportion of their men close range smgs; and various countries seemed to recognize the need for close range small arms with inventions such as the MP-18; Thompson gun, or the Villar Persoa.

I'm almost crying as I type this and I really need some advice. So, I (29/30) always had issues related to my personal life. Never had a LTR, things wouldn't last for me at all. Come from a broken family and always used to be into older men. Anyways, so I met this guy (40), who treated me very well. He didn't give up on me as soon as other men did. There were a lot of cultural and religious differences between us. I'm an international student in the US and he's an American. He agreed to my boundary of no sex before marriage (which was very hard for so many men). He was previously married(married for 7 years, together for 10) to his ex wife who cheated on me and they divorced (luckily no kids)
Anyways, this man treated me better than other people did. We decided that if we're compatible, we will just get married within an year and not date too long for religious and legal reasons.
Our dating time period was pretty good. He had moved on to a new city (from where his ex wife lived), cut off contact with her, he had deleted her and the family on Facebook long before. They weren't meeting or anything when we were dating. However, he had NEVER blocked her. Despite the fact that they had no kids, he never blocked her. And she would call him occasionally (once a month or so), and they would still talk and share life updates etc. At first I didn't really care or even pay much attention to that.
But the more serious we got, it started bothering me. I started feeling that his ex was actually staying in touch to get back together (possibility of it), and when he filed for divorce, she and her family tried their best to convince him to forgive her and not go that route. This stuff started bothering me.
Anyways, soon after, we got engaged and I told him to set boundaries where you should NOT call him especially when there are no kids involved. She created some drama on Christmas (by calling and texting him and his parents). And he blocked her from all platforms and promised me that he will never pick her call or keep any line of communication open.
Now we are married (less than one year of meeting each other), but for some reason I can't shake the feeling off that he hadn't blocked her and was picking up her calls after HIS divorce and even when we were dating. He had kept that line of communication open. He justifies by saying that he just wanted the alimony process to be done smoothly (which ended during our engagement/Christmas drama by ex), and he didn't want the divorce case to be reopen (so that he doesn't have to pay her any more money). He got a good deal as he didn't lose half his assets or even quarter of it. He's very smart financially and his ex wife wasn't. So he says he wanted to keep things amicable until alimony is over so there is no problem. That's why he never blocked her number but also never initiated contact with her. Now he says that since alimony is over and we're married, he wouldn't talk to her. I feel like I had to show a lot of my emotion to create those boundaries.
I just can't seem to trust him. I feel very insecure and jealous that he had kept the communication open. I feel suspicious constantly that he will unblock her or start talking to her (he never blocked her on his OWN, until I told him to). I constantly go through his phone just to make sure there's no contact.
How do I shake these feelings? It's causing a lot of tension between us and we're newly married. I almost regret marrying a divorced man (when I was never married). 2023.02.03 05:04 Vampirebitez That One Time Me and My Friend Found a Weird Tree
It all started one morning. I looked outside and saw a tree that wasn't there before.
I just woke up, checked my news app and saw a bunch of articles about how people in my area vanished, ate breakfast, and looked out the window to see a tree that wasn't there before.
The tree had a thick, stark white trunk and bright red leaves. It didn't look like any species I'd seen before. At first I shrugged and assumed it was just some weird statue someone put up to mess with me.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how stupid I sound.
I called up a friend of mine, Jay, who specializes in botany.
I dialed their number and called them. "Hey, Jay?"
"What, Tom?"
"I just have a question."
"Okay, shoot."
"Is there any such thing as a completely white tree with bright red leaves? I found one in my yard."
Jay was silent for a few minutes. "Not that I know of? Are you messing with me?"
"Just come over and I'll show you. It's pretty weird."
"Okay, be there soon." Jay hung up.
I waited an hour, occasionally checking to see if the tree was still there. I eventually heard a knock at the door.
I opened to see Jay. Jay looked very much like a tree. Tall, thin, and with curly hair like leaves. They wore glasses and always had a water bottle in hand at all times. They had a duffle bag of what I assume is their sciency stuff.
"Now, where is this weird tree?" Jay asked.
I guided them to my backyard and presented it.
Jay was left slack jawed and adjusted their glasses. "Holy shit, you were right."
I playfully nudged their arm with my elbow. "And you thought I was messing with you!"
Jay walked up to the trunk and felt its bark. They rubbed their hand up and down.
"Weird. This bark, if it is bark, is oddly smooth. And it's probably not just the wood because it doesn't have splinters. Just smooth and dry." Jay said, scratching their chin.
I walked up and felt it too. It felt less like wood and more like a dry bone.
"I'll get a ladder."
I went and grabbed my ladder and set it up at the base of the tree. I climbed up and looked at the leaves.
The leaves weren't like any we have seen. It looked almost like a Christmas light but was around the size of a small pickle. I picked it and examined it. It felt like some sort of sac rather than a leaf and it was warm.
It pulsed and I dropped it out of disgust, nearly hitting Jay with it. The sac leaf popped like a water balloon and a red liquid poured from it.
Jay looked up. "Dude!"
"Sorry!" I shouted back.
Jay sighed and picked up the remains and put it in a plastic bag.
I picked another sac leaf and made sure to keep my cool this time. I climbed down and handed it to Jay.
We both walked inside and Jay got their set up ready for examination.
Jay took the popped sac and put it under the microscope first. Jay observed it and looked confused.
"Strange. These don't look like plant cells. They look more like animal cells."
I handed Jay the intact sac and they took a small blade and squeezed the liquid out of it onto a slide. They looked and I saw their eyes widen.
"Holy fuck…" They mouthed.
"What?"
"These are blood cells. Human blood cells."
I couldn't believe it either. "What?! How?"
"I don't know! Maybe we discovered a new tree species or something!"
We both took a moment to process our discovery.
"So, we discovered a weird blood tree. So, what are our priorities? Get rich or kill it with fire?"
Jay furrowed their brow. "Let's learn more about it and decide from there."
We both got the proper equipment and went back out. We got tools from my garage, more sample bags, and a gun just in case.
I got back on the ladder and looked at the leaf sacs again. They appear to be attached by what are probably veins. The more I looked, the more they pulsed and throbbed and appeared to be getting fuller.
Jay decided to take some wood for analysis. They tapped a hammer and chisel against it. It was hollow sounding like the inside was empty.
Jay kept tapping until they chipped away some desirable pieces. They heard some moans combined with a wet sloshing noise. Jay decided to peek inside.
I heard Jay shriek like a little girl and I climbed down immediately.
Jay was sitting and freaking out.
"Dude what's wrong?!"
Jay could barely speak, they just pointed and blathered about something horrible inside the tree.
I peeked inside and I couldn't blame Jay for freaking out.
The inside had some sort of organic mass of flesh. It had a bunch of eyes, ears, mouths, noses, and limbs. It was attached to the ceiling and floor by veins, like a morbid cocoon.
A red, vine-like appendage grabbed Jay by the ankle and tried to pull them in. I grabbed my gun and shot at it, allowing Jay to be free and run back inside with the samples. The tree made a horrible shriek.
I ran back inside with Jay and locked the door.
We both were panting and shaking. I looked at Jay.
"Kill it with fire?" I ask between breaths.
"Kill it with fire."
Jay looked at the fragments. They took one out and examined it.
"This is bone." Jay mumbled.
"Maybe we should call a priest while we are at it. And maybe a therapist because we might need one." I said jokingly to ease the terror.
"Destroy the weird meat tree first, then therapist." Jay scolded.
We both devised a plan to destroy the blood tree. We both went out to grab as many propane tanks and gasoline cans as we could.
I used a lawn mower attached to a rope to safely push the tanks to the tree.

It seems likely that she would have decided Lil'E was better off without a father and initiated the split, though I suppose it's also possible that it was a mutual decision, depending on how power-hungry Satan had gotten at that point. He may have decided to cut his losses, as it were.
There's also the theory that Satan cheated on Lilith, which I've seen thrown around this sub. While it's not impossible, I don't like this theory very much. Partly because the only strip that could even vaguely stand as evidence is the engagement one (which as I've mentioned, does not vibe with established lore), and partly because I'm tired of the "men are scum who will stick their dick in anything warm and female-shaped" narrative that Sinfest has been propping up since 2011. Let's give Satan's general failures as a husband and as a father some depth, yeah?

So without further ado, here is the timeline as I have managed to piece together:

- At some point, Lilith and Satan both live at the Devil’s Mansion - their names are carved into the pavilion, and we see a flashback of them walking towards the mansion together. Lilith does not appear to be pregnant (tho it’s hard to tell from the back).
- In the present, Tangerine stumbles across a fully-furnished nursery in the mansion, with a family portrait including Satan, Lilith, and an infant Lil’E, and drawings of all three of them done by a small child. We later see this same drawing and several of the toys in the Vault. There is a bed, not a crib, so the previous occupant was probably old enough to be independently mobile.
