2023.02.03 05:22 echo_ridge_creator New zombie game idea

I know this might belong better on gameideas but it is for more mechanics and features while mines just a brief summary of my storyline so far.
A virologist artificially mutates rabies with several other diseases. The resulting disease is released in Chicago and quickly spreads throughout the Midwest and southern Canada and turns the dead back alive. These zombies are not the stereotypical zombies, however. Biting and scratching are not your only concerns as saliva can also spread it so if you get spit on, you will turn. They can also run, jump, climb, and communicate with each other. They will almost always stay in hordes and will slowly evolve to be stronger and more durable, meaning that at first, a broken hip can kill then but near the end, headshots won't even work.

2023.02.03 04:53 anonsad2666 Shuttle Timing

Hey! So it’s my first forest and I’m flying in solo from az to Chicago. I plan to take the shuttle Wednesday from the airport to the grounds, and leave on the 12pm shuttle back to the airport. My my flight leaves at 7:30 Monday. The shuttle estimates a 4 and a half hour trip. Anyone with shuttle experience, is this a good enough time to get to the airport? Last thing I want is missing my flight Monday. I’m not sure if there are any traffic issues with leaving Monday or anything.
Thanks, and happy forest!! 🌳

2023.02.03 03:59 steelandsilverr Part Time RA

Hello, there's an opening for a part-time Southwest ramp agent position near me at the largest airport in my city. I currently work a full-time 3 12's healthcare job Fri-Sun and am off Mon-Thurs.
I'm interested in working the ramp part-time. Can anyone answer if part-time receive flight benefits the same as full-time at southwest?
Also, how does it work with part-time - is there a certain amount of shifts I pick-up each month. If so, how many shifts do I have to work each month or each week? Can I pick them up randomly as I please as long I meet the monthly requirement? Can you pick up whatever shifts you want that are open for the month or do they give you set shifts every week?
Would I be able to work for example one shift a week part time? At my medical job, part-timers are required to pick-up at least 2 shifts a month and that can be any 2 open shifts. I'm wondering if this part time job will be like that.
One more question, if I love the job and want to transfer to full-time, will that be an option and easy for me to do once I'm hired?
Just trying to figure out how part-time works and if it will work with my other job before I apply. Thanks!

2023.02.03 02:02 nogoodwil Itinerary ver 2.0 - Mar 6th to Mar 19th (Kyoto - Osaka - Hiroshima - Nara - Kinosaki - Tokyo - Nagoya - Shimoyoshida)

Hello,
I'm trying this again after making some changes. It's my first time traveling to Japan and I want to be sure I don't miss out, but I also want to be sure that my plan is viable and that I'm not adding too much. I know some days I could add more* depending on which area I'll be at and I'm open to suggestions.
Kyoto (Mar 6th to Mar 10th)
Osaka (Mar 10th to Mar 14th)
Tokyo (Mar 14th to Mar 19th)
The way I planned out this itinerary is so that we visit the "more popular" attractions during weekdays and avoid larger crowds (better for photography).

2023.02.03 01:54 Acrobatic_Emu_2787 I (32f) is tired of my girlfriend (24f) mom (47f) which is making my anxiety worse

My girlfriend mom is the type of person who irks my nerves. Her mother birthday is today (January 27th) and she wanted to visit her daughter. We live in Oregon and her mom lives in Georgia.
We received a text 2 weeks ago with a screenshot from her with her flight information. She never told us of an exact date but she always stated that she wanted to visit us. We were always told that she will come for a 3 day weekend (Friday-Sunday) and she will live in a hotel. We said okay because we work on the weekdays and we would not be able to hang out with on the days we work.
So this shook us because not only did the flight come out of nowhere but she was here from Friday until Wednesday. And her flight is at 6 in the morning.
I told my gf that this is inconsiderate because why would she do this?! She expects us to drop her off at the airport at 4 when we have to be at work at 7. It takes us 2 hours to get to the airport she needs to be at.
She told us that she will get a hotel but no she’s on our living room futon running the heater all day.
She also brought her 4 month old puppy to our home. I have a 6 yo dog but she’s trained and was approved my the leasing manager. The dog has been barking non stop since Friday. She doesn’t want my dog on the futon that she sleeps on daily. She doesn’t want my dog near the crate that I’m letting her use. She complains about walking up three flights of stairs to our apartment but we told her months ago that we don’t have an elevator. So since she had a procedure on her back 2 days before getting here; we have to take her dog outside. If we don’t…the dog will poop/pee in the house. Sometimes on the floor or the pee pad. Which she places the used pee pad in the garbage can. Which to no surprise left the apartment smelling like pee.
She also has been saying some off the wall crap about foreign food. She said she prefers American food because it’s not cooked by foreigners. Which…doesn’t make sense!
She constantly not respecting my gf and it’s upsetting. Looking on the outside…I feel sorry for her but…I can’t help her.

2023.02.03 00:27 Skribll I started hunting two Chicago area serial killers tonight... wish me luck.. {Part 1]

For some time now, bodies have been found and subsequently pulled from the waterways of Chicago. The Chicago River and Lake Michigan both, have been the frequent sites of multiple body recovery operations. To a lesser degree, the Des Plaines River, has also seen a share of the death in the greater Chicago area. And it is not just the waterways, the city itself has had a rough go of it for a long time. The city has also had more than a fair share of serial killers over time. From the infamous, H.H. Holmes, to the despicably evil, John Wayne Gacy. Throughout time their have been many a serial killer to roam about the streets of Chicago, Illinois.
Two months ago, I made my mind up and then packed up what I would need for an extended time away from home. I loaded up the truck and off I went, on my way, along the highways of America, from the far south of Florida, to the northwest, to Chicago. I decided to begin an adventurous, and possibly quite dangerous endeavor, an attempt to assist in the location and capture of one or more of the Chicago area serial killers. There is definitely, at the least, two of them, of that I am sure. And they have had Chicago in their grip of fear for a long time.
The first of them, dubbed and known to law enforcement as, The Chicago Strangler, is likely responsible for up to fifty unsolved strangulations since the year 2000 or so. And the other, an unnamed shadow, a nobody, that could be anybody, is likely responsible for the deaths of many young men and a few young women in the Chicago area. Most of which were young adults, and more than a few, were known to have visited clubs or bars in the River North nightlife district area of the city.
And so, that is the area I had chosen to begin my investigation of sorts. I am setting in my vehicle at the moment, and as I write this I can't help but think to myself, that any one of the people walking the sidewalks and walkways around me could be the one. Any one of the people, inside any one of the clubs and bars in the area, could be the one. And again, I am about to enter that world, enter the hunting grounds of one or more serial killers. I know how stupid the idea is, but I can't help how badly I want to be the one that leads the authorities to stopping this monster.
Early on I stopped in at the local police precinct, I let them know that I was in the area and what I was up to. So that under any circumstance where I may have to come into contact with local law enforcement they are keenly aware of my presence and intentions. And obviously they attempted to warn me away from what I am doing. My whole life I have been curiously infatuated with serial killers, studying the cases, diving headfirst into the world of true human monstrosity. People without conscience, viscous and murderous, victimizing everyone and everything they can in life as they make their way through it. Evil on a primal level exists in the hearts of mankind, and these men and women, these serial killers, let it shine out.
I intended to observe from the shadows of the clubs and bars, watching and waiting, for any obvious signs of a predator stalking it's prey, in the light of the hope of wrangling in another helpless victim. And maybe with a little luck on my side, I can be the one that puts a stop to the madness of this demented soul. And if not this one than perhaps the other, the Chicago Strangler. More than likely an older man, taking into account the length of time that victims have been, or could've been, attributed to that particular killer. Even if he, or she, had begun their killing near or about the year 2000, and had been say 20-30 years of age at the time. They would now be in their forties or fifties, and of course, could be even older, or perhaps even deceased at this point. Somewhat recently, the California based serial killer and rapist, dubbed The Golden State Killer, was caught through genealogical database search information, and he was deep into his seventies at the time of his capture. This among other reasons, led me to the beginning of my search, here in the River North nightlife district.
The likelihood of the alleged and purported serial killer, still operating in the River North area, is far more likely than finding the person responsible for the strangulations that have plagued Chicago for so long. That person could be anywhere and hasn't been tied to any particular geological location or area. This one has fortunately, and there is always the chance that because of this, they may have moved on to a different hunting ground. But why change what has been working for you right? This area has been the perfect hunting grounds for this particular killer and I imagine they will continue to exploit that as long as they possibly can.
I was going to go into the Tunnel tonight, but I decided to switch it up and start in the Underground Cocktail Club. I'll be heading in here in just a minute, after I finish smoking this cigarette. It's a shit habit I know, but I do love it so. I'm sorry but my nerves are fried already and I haven't even made it inside yet. I don't want to go in jumpy or looking like some kind of scared kitten setting in the corner of the bar. The cat lady that slammed up against my driver's side rear window sent me over the edge.
Head down and absorbed in writing this, I wasn't paying the proper amount of attention to my surroundings. Some lady with a cat in her arms slammed her body up against my car at the rear driver's side of the truck and hollered something undecipherable. It scared the hell out of me I'm not going to lie. As she wandered on down the sidewalk mumbling obscenities I believe, she struck me as crazy. But then who am I to pass judgement or assume her mental capabilities. She definitely was strange though, and she definitely scared the shit out of me.
I'm going to use my phone to update you all periodically as I go along. Publishing the finished post at the end of the night. Hopefully that way, all of you will be informed as I move along, and if anything should happen to me, there will be a record of my movements for law enforcement to follow. I will post once a night from here on out, twice a day if possible, as much as possible for sure, but I will document as much as I possibly can every time. Anyone that seems suspicious, anything that seems out of the ordinary, if I notice anything worth noting I will write it down and share it immediately.
Ever since last weekend, I have been a little spooked, I have been trying to take precautions and avoid any chance of me becoming one of the, "disappeared". And I've decided to share my movements with as many people as I possibly can. What better way, than to just share my story as it plays out in real life. That way if anything should happen to me, there will be an extensive public record of what led to my demise. I'm supposed to be meeting up with a couple again tonight. I met them a couple weeks ago and we've hung out here a few times since then. Usually they bring this other girl, the girlfriend' cousin I believe, if I remember correctly that is.
And just to document my reasons for being, "spooked", as of late. I want to share a few other things really quick. There is a man, early, possibly mid thirties, dark hair and eyes, six feet in height, that has come into the Underground every other night for the past three weeks. Well dressed and obviously has money, always buying rounds for people at the club. He has a habit of sorts of approaching singles at the bar and striking up conversations, buying them drinks until he strikes out at the end of the night. I keep wondering about him in particular, I've even had two nightmares about dark not quite shapes hovering over me in my sleep. And I swear every time I've awoken from that nightmare I have thought of that man at the bar. Why I do not know, but something about him just rubs me the wrong way. The thought that he could be the serial killer stalking the area, and that he's just out here like that trying people at the clubs every night is terrifying, sobering even.
And the nightmares themselves, of which I've had several different kinds. Have taken an immense toll on my psyche, and put a serious dent in my resolve to see this thing through if I can. If they start to come to me every night, I don't think I will be able to hang any longer. The mental weight of the night time terrors on top of the genuine threat of death in my personal endeavors, is starting to have a real effect on me.
Not to mention the fact that they just pulled a fresh one out of the waters just last month, a young Polish man I think. Oh well, up up and away, or so they say. It is currently, 9:46pm, I am heading inside now. Fashionably late as per my usual modus operandi. Hereafter, I will mark each subsequent paragraph with the word, "Update", followed by anything noteworthy at the time. And then at the end of the night tonight I will post whatever I have written down as my first entry into this saga. Wish me luck.
Update: #1. It is now 10:58pm and I am just finishing up my second beverage of the night. A horrid affair, they ordered me a Tequila Sunrise, and it was absolutely gross. Worst drink I've ever had, and according to a quick google search, it's on a couple lists for worst cocktails of all time. I'm gonna order me a scotch on the rocks with a coke on the side to wash it down with. If I can get the girl's attention again that is, it is quite busy in here tonight. No sign of the mystery man as of yet.
Update: Its 11:44. The man from before is here now. I've probably had one too many too fast, but I'm still gonna keep my eye on him from the back booths of the bar. Hopefully it won't be too painfuly obvious, I dont want to spoook him in any way or tip him off that I am watching.
Update: It's 12:31pm and I'm definitely not feeling well. I should of paced myself better. I only had four drinks, but I've drank them pretty fast as they came to me. Or five drinks sorry I forgot the shit drink that they bought me. looks like a cab for me tonight. The man from before has been locked in with another man at the front of the bar since shortly after he came in. I've been watching him as diligently as poss.
Update. Theyve offered me a ride home. thats good but they said i'll have to ride along while they drop off the cousin chick. She has tto be back at a particular time i guess no big deal there. Thats alright. I ain't on a tight schedule myself. Its 2 in the morning now. So we will be leaving soon I guess.
Update. We are leaving the bar now. Walking to their mini van. They parked just down the street so, be otw home in just a few, Im posting this now since it's the end of the night and I'll start where i left off again tomorrow afternoon. Later all.
So where to begin, I guess I'll start with the hospital. I woke up in the hospital this afternoon, and I had no idea how I ended up there. It has started to come back to me, and this unposted writing has helped put everything back into perspective and back on a timeline. The last thing I really remember was opening the sliding back door on a mini van before everything went black. If it wasn't for a bystander, and coincidentally the man that helped me, was the same man I was watching like a hawk in the bar that night. Him and his boyfriend I guess you would say, or his guy friend. I don't know about that, what I do know is the two of them were apparently leaving the bar just after we left. And they happened to hear a sound like a yell from just up the road and came quickly to see if something visually coincided with what they had heard.
They saw what they described as a man laying in the road next to a van, and two people standing over them with the back sliding door to the van open wide. They yelled out and startled the two people standing there over the person, and the male ran around the van and jumped into the driver seat and the female jumped over the man laying in the road and into the back of the van. They saw another person in the front passenger side as the van peeled away from the area. And they said it was a miracle that the van didn't completely run the man over laying in the road and kill them. Though the van did appear to run over the leg of the person laying there. They ran over to check on the person and called 911. They were brought down to the station and questioned before being sent on their way. I got the information from a detective that was here in my room when I woke.
I woke to the realization that my leg is broken. I have a cast on my leg and a hell of headache. I have a total of 8 staples in the back of my head. I decided to leave everything I wrote from the last night out at the bar and to just ad this to it. For what its worth perhaps this will serve as a stark warning, not to go out looking for evil unless your prepared to deal with it when you find it. And don't be dumb enough to let your guard down and get intoxicated whilst doing so. The detective I spoke with thinks I was drugged before I was offered a ride home. And that if I hadn't been extremely lucky to have someone hear what was going on and end up scaring off the attackers. That I would likely, very possibly, be the next person being fished up out of the Chicago River or Lake Michigan.
I was apparently hit from behind. And they obviously intended on loading me into the van they were in and driving me to a secondary location. From there who knows what would of come next, or what kind of hell I would have found myself in. The detectives said that a van matching the description I gave was reported stolen earlier in the day, same day that I was later attacked and almost abducted. So whoever these people really are they are working as a team, and they are smart enough to use stolen vehicles to commit their crimes. Two women and a man. I do not know their names, the names they gave to me are obviously going to be fake names. I've been through 3000 mugshots and they aren't in them. So these people are not on the record as most criminals are. They have remained out of the light and live in the dark shadowy drunken world of the North River district.
I came here in search of a serial killer. I think I may have stumbled onto a group of them. Either that or by some crazy coincidence, in the same area that a serial killer is using to hunt down their victims. Some random group of people groomed me for a couple weeks, got me to let down my guard, and then drugged and attacked me. Then they tried to abduct me and take me off into oblivion never to be heard from again. I barely escaped this situation with my life. And now I know, and they know, that they let me get away. And I guarantee they will be wanting to find me and take care of me, if they are smart enough to do all of this, then they are smart enough to know as long as I am out here, they are in jeopardy. That I can visually identify the three of them.
Please, listen to me. If you are in the Chicago area, please do not go down to the River North area to party and hang about. Party at home with friends or something like that. This area is more dangerous than you could possibly know. If it weren't for an absolute miracle, I would be dead right now. I couldn't be luckier. And I am begging you to stay out of that area, there is definitely a killer or group of killers operating in the area. And until they are caught you are taking your life and putting it into the hands of the worst kind of human beings when you put yourself in that area.
Once I have healed I will be going back for sure, I plan to set in my vehicle and watch for the same people who attacked me to show their faces in the area again. So that I can have them put where they belong and put a stop to their madness. Once again, wish me luck.

2023.02.03 00:18 Puzzlehead-Pisces2 27 years ago on January 31st 1996, thirteen year old Rachel Mellon Skemp vanished after spending the day home alone with her stepfather. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Rachel Marie Mellon Skemp was born on October 13th, 1982 to parents Amy and Jeff Skemp in Melrose Park, Illinois. At the age of 3, her parents divorced; her mother remained living in Bolingbrook, Illinois while her father relocated to Dallas, Texas. In 1985, Amy began a relationship with a man by the name of Vincent Mellon. Vince moved in with Amy and Rachel and together the couple had two children: Jason in 1988 and Ashley in 1990. They all lived on 612 Melissa Drive in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
Rachel was a bubbly and bright young girl, always smiling in spite of her unstable home life. In 1990, Vince pushed Amy down a flight of stairs during an argument, prompting her to file a restraining order with the police. She later dropped the order and reconciled. The police were periodically called to their home for domestic violence, and there was one instance where Vince angrily threatened both Amy and Rachel. In the spring of 1995, Rachel ran away from home, citing that she was afraid that she would be blamed for something that her siblings did. She slept outside of one of her friends' house and the next day called her step-grandparents to take her home. In the summer of 1995, Rachel went to spend one month with her father Jeff in Dallas, Texas. While there, she begged her Uncle to help her move to Texas, believing that she would be better off in the custody of her father than with her mother. Rachel returned to Bolingbrook later that summer. The last day that Jeff heard from his daughter Rachel was on December 25th, 1995.
By the fall of 1995, Rachel was a cheerful and smart 7th grader at B.J. Ward Middle School where she'd been an honor student. She excelled in reading and writing and was popular at school, described as being silly, joyful and with an amazing sense of humor. Rachel had a best friend, Carrie, whom she remained close to until the time of her disappearance. She was passionate about recycling and the environment and had taken up an interest in music, dancing and singing. She babysat children in the neighborhood and aspired to one day become a teacher.
On January 30th, 1996, a day before her disappearance, Rachel was seen crying by her locker which was extremely uncharacteristic of the usual upbeat and happy teen. She told her friends that she had been feeling unwell and had a problem which she would "take care of" herself.
The following day, January 31st 1996, was a day of strange circumstances. 13 year old Rachel decided to stay home from school that day due to a sore throat. Accompanying her at home was her unemployed stepfather, Vince, and their German Shepard, Duke. January 31st was a particularly frigid day; -20 degrees Fahrenheit and snowy with gusty high winds. At 10:45am, Rachel, wearing a pink sweatshirt with yellow pants and red slippers, phoned her paternal grandmother Lucy Skemp to thank her for the Christmas gifts she'd sent. Lucy stated that the phone call lasted about 5 minutes and towards the end of the phone call Rachel got very quiet. Her grandmother asked, “Is he there?” referring to Vincent, and Rachel replied, “Yes,” before stating she had to go. According to Vince, after the phone call ended he and Rachel played Nintendo for roughly an hour or so before she returned to her bedroom to take a nap. He states that the last time he saw her she was in her bed "wrapped in a blue blanket".
At 2:30pm with Rachel still napping, Vince claims that he stepped out to take the family dog Duke out for a walk. He left the front door unlocked. During the 30 minute walk, Vince claims that Duke slipped out of his collar and began chasing a rabbit in a nearby field. Vince then left the dog, believing that he'd find his way back to the family residence, and returned home at roughly 3:00pm. He claims that he did not check on Rachel when he returned home. At 3:15pm, Rachel's younger half-sibling Ashley returned home from school, noticing that Rachel was not home. A real estate agent who saw Duke running up and down the street recognized that the dog had belonged to the Mellon-Skemp residence and returned the dog between 4:30pm and 5:00pm. It was not until 5:00pm when Amy and her son Jason got home that the Bolingbrook police were called.
When the police arrived hours later and searched Rachel's room they were stunned to discover that her coat, shoes, wallet, purse and Walkman were all still in her room during such a brutally cold snowstorm. Her blue blanket that she'd slept in was missing as well as the two pillows she had on her bed. Police checked the door and found no signs of forced entry. They questioned Vince about the multiple scratches and cuts that were on his arm, to which he replied that he was doing car work earlier during the day. An extensive search of the area was done on ground, air and water using geothermal images and drones, but still no sign of Rachel turned up. Her bank account had been untouched and the airports were checked to make sure that she hadn't ran away to Dallas to be with her father. Still, no sign of Rachel.
A notable item that was uncovered during the police raid was Rachel's diary which contained a haunting entry from August of 1995 in which she described how her stepfather Vince came into her room and began kissing her and touching her inappropriately in order to warn her about "how predators behave" and what characteristics she should look out for to be safe. They also uncovered an out of print book which deals with father-daughter incest as well as a steak knife stashed underneath Rachel's pillow.
At 6:00pm, Rachel's 13 year old best friend Carrie along with 4 other friends trekked around the neighborhood in the cold, wet snow calling out for Rachel. They spent an hour outside with their flashlights checking the local park and going up and down the streets until it had became completely dark outside. Carrie states that at that point they had all huddled together and began crying, realizing that there was no sign of their friend. Jeff Skemp, Rachel's father, had received a telephone call from his father stating that Rachel had gone missing from her home. Jeff quit his job in Dallas and moved to Bolingbrook Illinois, hoping to aid in the search of his daughter. When he went to the Mellon-Skemp residence he went into Rachel's room and laid down on her bed in disbelief of what had happened to his daughter. He put on her Walkman and the song "Hand in My Pocket" by Alanis Morrissette had begun playing. He smiled as he remember that Rachel stated during her visit to his house last year that Hand in My Pocket was her favorite song and that she was now listening to alternative rock instead of her usual pop music. Jeff cites that while at the Mellon-Skemp residence, he confronted Vince about what happened to Rachel, to which Vince replied "someone must've snatched her while I was out walking the dog". Jeff has kept the same phone number since 1996 in hopes that one day Rachel will call him. The case had gone ice cold, with no sign of Rachel and no leads or tips in the case.
In January of 2000, four years after Rachel's disappearance, a grand jury obtained a warrant to receive Vince's DNA samples. On January 29th, the cops picked up Vince from his home and held him for nine hours at the Bolingbrook police station. During that time, Vince pled the 5th Amendment when questioned over what happened on the day Rachel disappeared. He then surrendered samples of his blood, saliva and hair as part of a first-degree murder investigation. He also took at least one lie detector test, which he failed. Amy was also questioned by police down at the Bolingbrook police station, but maintained her theory that her husband was innocent and that she believed Rachel was still alive. She passed a lie detector test and since then both Amy and her husband Vince have refused to cooperate with law enforcement regarding Rachel's disappearance. Amy and Vince also refuse to hold any memorials in memory of Rachel and do not make any efforts to bring awareness to her case. The grand jury investigation ended in 2000 without any indictments handed down.
Amy states that she got rid of all of Rachel's belongings and donated it to a Goodwill in 2000. That same year, the Mellon family relocated to Joliet, Illinois. Amy, Vince and their two children moved to Tennessee sometime in the mid-2000's and Vince has since then had numerous run-ins with the law, including domestic violence charges for fighting his son as well as drunk driving charges. In May of 2002, the city of Bolingbrook planted a tree and plaque at a park right across the street from Rachel's house in her memory. Bolingbrook PD has stated that they believe without a doubt that Vince killed Rachel, but they cannot prosecute him due to a lack of evidence.
Rachel's father Jeff and her best friend Carrie continue to bring awareness to Rachel's strange disappearance. In 2021 Rachel's friend, Carrie, wrote:
"25 years....I can't wrap my head around it. How is this possible? I feel like I say this every single year, but 25? January 31st will be that long since you just vanished. This date will forever be the day that changed me. It will forever be the day that I have had to learn to live without answers. Live with questions and doubt. Live life raising my own kids without you. I pray so hard constantly for answers. For closure. For the doubt to go away. And for you to be brought justice. Rachel, you are forever in my heart! I can still hear your voice when I see pictures. I can still remember your smile that lit up a room. I can still remember how smart and beautiful you were inside and out! Please take a moment and think about if your best friend just vanished. Or your own daughter, sister or anyone! And to have no answers!?!? NO ONE should have to live with this. SOMEONE KNOWS SOMETHING! Please keep Rachel in your hearts and prayers as we approach yet another anniversary... 25 years. Rachel, I will NEVER give up. Love, Carrie"
The police still consider this an "active case" and are open to any new leads. If you have any information in regards to the January 31st, 1996 disappearance of Rachel Mellon Skemp, please call the Bolingbrook Police Department at (630) 226-0600.

2023.02.02 23:55 throwaway6363846 First timer in Paris, really stressed and confused!

So nearing the end of this month I’ll be travelling to Paris for a few nights, I’ll be landing at CDG airport on a weekday morning and flying back from here 5 days later, I was going to hire a car but I’m not a fan of the big deposits they require running into the thousands! Airport shuttles are £150 and I can’t justify that.. can someone explain like I’m a 5 year old the best way to travel around ie from the airport to hotel etc? If there’s no alternative I’ll probably be cancelling the flights and driving from the UK as the flights cost £400, Thanks!

2023.02.02 23:29 mydogeatspoop2023 Not sure why anyone would want this animal in the house

Live-in girlfriend decided last year to foster three puppies, and we ended up keeping one of course. Aussie Shepherd mix. He was a cute puppy, of course. I didn't really want one but my daughters wanted to keep all three (!!) and girlfriend wanted at least one, I wanted zero, guess who gets to take care of a dog now?
Now he is full grown, but we can't let him off the leash in the house because:
A) he chews everything. Carpet, furniture, his own leash, even the wall trim on the baseboard. Let him outside and he chews the deck railing, electric cables, digs up the bushes in the yard, etc. We have to keep him tied up with literally nothing near him that cannot be chewed. He has to have toys nearby or he will chew through the walls.
B) he poops everywhere. Hershey squirts half the time because he can only eat one type of dog food without getting an upset stomach. I dread walking around and finding more poop puddles. The carpet is ruined. Our carpet has little brown stains that won't come out no matter how much we run the carpet cleaner. It's disgusting and I don't even go in half the rooms of the house now because he has pooped whenever he gets off the leash. Also he likes to eat poop, and walk in it and track little poop-prints around. I never take off my shoes in my house.
C) he chases the cats, and wants to kill and eat them. Cats were here first, and weren't bothering anyone. He has developed an affinity for cat poop, and will dig in the litterbox if he gets off the leash.
D) he also barks constantly, if we put him outside he barks and annoys the neighbors, if he is inside he barks at the cats or for no real reason. Pretty much all bark all day.
So I have realized this creature is basically beyond useless, and will probably never leave his crate or be allowed off his leash. If you pet him you got to wash up afterwards because he always smells like dog or his own poop. We bathe him about once a month.
That leaves me with the conclusion that all we have done is purchased a large wild animal that is useless beyond words, expensive (about $200 a month for food and pet health insurance), and cannot be trusted with basically anything.
I don't have any sheep or need home protection, nor am I blind, nor do I work at an airport or the border, so I have no real use for a large canine creature.
The only thing useful that he does is eat cat poop, meaning there is less of it to scoop, and that's only if he can get to the litter box unsupervised.
So, maybe other people have different experiences, but for me this is just ridiculous. Stuck with this wild animal in my house that I never wanted.

2023.02.02 23:22 LogicalVelocity11 Canadian in US flying from Chicago to Orlando

If you are Canadian and have a driver's license and a First Nations status card, will that do for ID to fly within the US? We are driving through the border to Chicago and he can get through with his status card and a blood quantum letter from his band. Just hoping we don't run into issues at the airport to board our flights.

2023.02.02 23:19 migliukee Looking for Incheon hotel recommendations

Hi, everyone!
I’m looking for recommendations for hotels near the airport in Incheon. I have an almost 24 hours layover and want to remain relatively close to the airport.
The hotels inside don’t work great with the timing of my flights, so I’m trying to avoid them.
Thanks in advance!

2023.02.02 22:54 Puzzlehead-Pisces2 On January 31st 1996, thirteen year old Rachel Mellon Skemp vanished after spending the day home alone with her stepfather.

She was popular at school, described as being jubilant, joyful and with an amazing sense of humor. Rachel had a best friend, Carrie, whom she remained close to until the time of her disappearance. She was passionate about recycling and the environment and had taken up an interest in music, dancing and singing. She babysat children in the neighborhood and aspired to one day become a teacher.
On January 30th, 1996, a day before her disappearance, Rachel was seen crying by her locker, which was extremely uncharacteristic of the usual upbeat and happy teen.
At 2:30pm, with Rachel still napping, Vince claims that he, during a -20 degree blizzard, took the family dog Duke out for a walk.
They also uncovered a steak knife stashed underneath Rachel's pillow.
